  1. "Spurriers job wasnt to prepare anyone. College coaches are trying to win not preparing players for the NFL. Grossman has been in the national football league for 4 years. To even discuss his role in a bad game against the Dolphins is crazy at this point in his career." from Drunk Bomber I agree that college coaches are doing their best to win however, someone has to be accountable for players knowing and practicing the fundamentals of the sport. This is something that Ron Turner, Wade Wilson, Lovie Smith, Steve Spurrier and Grossman's high school and pee-wee coaches should make sure that Grossman knows and never forgets. To say that a college coach does not prepare the superior athletes means that every coach in the world does not want to advance themselves as well as their players. I know that when I was coaching a couple of years ago, it was my desire to make sure that the players I coached remembered the fundamentals, excelled in the specific plays designed to help them shine so that they would be able to get to the next level. I also wanted to go undefeated all the time however, on any given day you might loose. Coaches want to do their best and want their players to do their best. If someone forgets the fundamentals, the coach has to take the time and reiterate those fundamentals. That is where success starts and ends. Everything else is just something to expand on the fundamentals. Grossman looked like someone who forgot the fundamentals for the second time in three weeks. I have not believed in Rex's ability since he was drafted and for the Bears to hold fast that Rex is the man, makes me wonder if this team will ever be better then making the playoffs and losing in their first game. We'll see how this team responds as a whole after the loss; going on the road against the Giants, then at the Jets and finally at the Patriots. If the Bears do not win at least one and preferably two; then all the hype that they have enjoyed for the first half of the season will prove only one thing, The Bears Are Not A True Contender.
  2. Yet no one is able to tell me one quarterback out of Steve Spurrier's system that has done well in the NFL. Yes I understand that Grossman is basically a rookie and attempting to do his best however, fundamentals should be well known at this point not to throw off your back foot. Six turn overs by Grossman for the second time in three weeks makes me wonder how good we really are. Defesively we are still one of the top if not the very best in the league however, putting the opposition on a short field makes for a long day for everyone.
  3. It is becoming more and more clear that those who have always thought Sexy Rexy was worth a damn better get used to the reality that with a strong opposing defense that Rexy justs SUCKSY. Grossman proves to me once again that he does not belong in the NFL and that Jerry Angelo wasted a #1 pick to obtain this goof that is a Steve Spurrier player and nothing more. I have said before and will again, name one quarterback out of Spurrier's system that has done anything worth while in the NFL. Additionally the play calling by Ron Turner leaves a lot to be desired. I think what ever Turner had before he left Chicago to be at Illinois, is definitely lost in transition at Illinois and since returning from Champaign. So who do you want to QB the Bears as well as a quality Offensive Coordinator? Griese should have an opportunity to see if he really is worth anything as the backup and who knows what is out there in regards to the available offensive coordinators. From what I have seen the two of the last three weeks, something needs to be done because we may get the bye week again in the playoffs however, there is no way we will make it to Miami playing as poorly as we have against Arizona and Miami.
  4. 6. Matt Trannon, WR - Michigan St. | Ht: 6-6 | Wt: 235 Got the speed guys with Berrian, Bradley (if healthy), Currie (if healthy), and Davis. Got the possesion guy with Muhammed. Got the possesion and big redzone target with Gage... wait a second, Gage has not shown anything in the NFL. A big project reciever is needed, and Trannon is a great redzone target at 6-6. Being a Michigan State fan thanks to my wife, Trannon would be one helluva addition to this team. He plays all out and heads up football. It is a lot of fun to watch Matt's intensity on the football field as well as he plays basketball after football season as well.
  5. Since I do not live in Chicago, I am glad that it was switched to a prime time game. Especially when I lived on the West Coast, it was a pain to get up and head to a bar at 9:30 am and want breakfast and all they would have was lunch. Even here in Omaha, it is not a guarantee that the Bears are on locally. With this switch and probably the game at New England as well, it will be nice to be at home with my family.
  6. It is official, Mike Brown has been placed on IR and is done for 2006. The Bears are going with Todd Johnson as his replacement however, I do not think Todd is the answer. What do you think? Should it be Todd, Chris Harris, Brandon McGowan, Cameron Worrell or should Jerry Angelo make a trade to bring someone else in?
  7. Can someone find their number for me, please? Thanks. Hurricane, the studio line that I found on their website is 312-332-ESPN (3776).
  8. It definitely is a bummer to hear that Mike is out once again. Wish there was some way to keep him healthy all season. It just seems that he continues to have things happen lately. Fortunately Chris Harris is ready to come back for the game against the 49ers. We'll see who Lovie thinks will best help this team in Mike's absence. It also appears according to the the Trib's website that he had surgery and he may wind up on the IR which would eliminate the playoffs for Mike.
  9. Here's the unedited version of Green's blow up last night. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1h71vEQtCM
  10. Hell, Green even told the media to go ahead and crown us the Super Bowl Champions. Not sure I am ready for that with the offense struggling. Glad we have a bye week for week 7. Feel sorry for Green as his kicker let him down two weeks in a row after his team blew big leads.
  11. There were probably people that were a part of the Western Association of Crazy Chicagoans & Others that made the trip from SoCal as well to be there. At the height of the group, we had over 850 members strong. This might have bee a fun road trip to participate in from there. It's a little harder to get there from Omaha NE. Glad I'll be home on the 29th and at the game.
  12. I still think as well that the play calling by Ron Turner is not what it should be and glad that the defense turned it on before it was too late. Looking forward to being in the stands on the 29th. Hopefully Rex will learn a lot about himself and what it means to be a pro quarterback. We'll see what happens on the 29th.
  13. freakin shocked as hell. As already mentioned, six turnovers and yet we still find a way to win. Glad their kicker has gotten worse this season and glad Gould continues to roll. Looking forward to being in the stands on the 29th at the UFO. Feel just as sorry for Alex Smith as I did for Leinhart. Only it will be a bit worse since it is after the bye week. 6-0 baby, let's keep rolling.
  14. I agree with you on that. It just seems that these guys are too much into the money versus the comradery of being part of a successful team. I would hate to have a repeat in 2007 by having Briggs become another Marshall. Hopefully something will be worked out to keep Lance in Chitown.
  15. One of my favortite memories from that season was watching the NFC Championship game from the North Endzone. I was looking through binoculars and watched as Eric Dickerson ran up the gut, Samuri met him head on, stood Dickerson straight up and flattened him back. It was so much fun to be at that game. It was incredible.
  16. Even Don Pierson of the Trib is in agreement with everyone.
  17. Unfortunately I do not live in the Chicago Metro Area at this point. I am very much looking forward to watching the game on my 50" TV with HD and drinking a few brews. I miss the days when I lived in SoCal and it was easier to have a dinner party to watch the game.
  18. Remember they some how beat us in preseason which of course doesn't mean much. I would imagine with the way we are playing, we should do very well on the National Stage once again. Wait a minute, we have not done well overall in the past on Monday night. Time to start a new tradition of kicking some ass on National TV. I am pretty sure that NBC is already working on having the game at New England moved to the Sunday Night game that week as well.
  19. I figure until we lock in the playoffs and have ideally a first week bye again, then worry about what to do next. I prefer to keep my starters in place to assure us of having the best players available. Although if the coaches had the same philosphey as my mentor when I was coaching semi-pro ball in SoCal, then we would have rotating players at every position to bring in fresh players for each series and continue to dominate like has never before been seen in the NFL. This approach worked real well for us and in the last game he and I coached together, the defense for the game gave up negative yardage. It was a beautiful sight to watch the plan come together.
  20. I agree with you in regards to the stupidity of what is happening. Glad to see that Lovie has the team mentally focused on what is coming up next which we all know is AZ. Let's at least make the playoffs and then work on the other goals that are goals for every year.
  21. Hell the Colts should have lost to the Titans of all teams last weekend and they won by the skin of their teeth. Manning still has not won a big game and they seem to be missing the "Edge" more than they thought they would. It just does not seem like Indy is in synct at all at this point. Bears schedule definitely favors them to remain undefeated until we start the three game East Coast trips in a row. Giants could be tough, Jets seem to be playing a tad better then they did last year and then to go to Foxboro to play the Pats is never going to be easy. I would imagine that if we are still undefeated by then, we have a good chance at remaining undefeated for the season. Right now it is great to be 5-0 and hope that we keep playing good ball.
  22. Wish I would have seen this exchange, would have been fun to watch. Additionally wish Da' Coach would have leveled the druggie wide out and knocked him out. Irvin is just a flamboyant fool who ESPN thinks is good for TV ratings. Sad to say the ESPN is going down hill in their NFL coverage. I prefer Berman, Jackson and Da' Coach with Morteson adding to the coversation once in a while. I really do not want to listen to the Monday night team as well on the 16th. Do they really think that Tony Kornheiser adds anything to the broadcast worth a damn. Speaking of commentators who should not be on TV any longer, how much longer until they get rid of Joe Theismann as well. The Monday night team should be Berman, Jackson, Da' Coach and maybe some fluff as well. Trico is worthwhile however, the rest needs to be replaced.
  23. I don't know about the rest however, I am still rather partial to the "MONSTERS OF THE MIDWAY." This is what we have always been known as and just do not think I want to have something different which may detract from out tradition.
