  1. Anderson has been one of many bright spots on this team this year. Sorry to day goodbye to Michael Haynes who never lived up to his potential. Glad we got Anderson and hope that he continues to kick ass all season long.
  2. I agree, overall this game was pretty well played. A couple of minor mistakes that were easily overcome. 4-0 is a great way to start out the season and it looks like we should make it to at least 7-0 without a problem. Then the three weeks on the East Coast. Two of those should be victories with little doubt however, with the way New England played today at Cincy, we'll have to see what happens. I am also a little nervous about playing both NY teams in the Meadowlands. So far so good and it helps to make a pathetic baseball season easier to forget.
  3. Maybe that is why they are who they are on ESPN2. John Clayton is not much and Mike Golic never had the career that his brother Bob did and who knows anything about the other Mike? Saying something like that is really freakin' stupid to be little the defending league MVP. Either way it looks like the game just got a tad better for the Bears becoming 4-0 however, Holmgren is still one helluva coach. We'll see how good Lovie and company really are come Sunday night.
  4. I agree with you on this Bomber. We'll just have to wait and see what the game plan is on Sunday night, especially with Shaun Alexander out with a broken foot. I just hope that Peanut wakes up and plays a complete game on Sunday otherwise we are in for a long night.
  5. Finally someone who gets what I am saying about the defense. There are issues that need to be addressed before some team out there exploits the weakness on "D". Yes we have one of the best defenses if not the best defense in the league and is it so bad that I want to see more than what has been shown so far? I think not. I understand that we have not given up too many points this year, I just want to make sure that the strongest part of the team does not fall apart. The offense appears to be coming around a little bit with Grossman at QB and the Special Teams have been very good as well. We are known for our defense and I only want to continue to see improvements. Sunday night will be a huge test for this team and I hope for the best results from the entire team. May we be 4-0 at the end of the day on October 1st.
  6. Mental mistakes create opportunity for the opposition. People need to learn to look at the whole picture with their heads and not their hearts. I love this team until the day I die, I just do not like huge mental mistakes that remind me of the players that I coached who played semi-pro or minor league football. The players are the creme of the crop and are the best and to have such glaring mental breakdowns leaves me wondering what will happen against a true contender. Sunday the First will tell a lot when Seattle comes into Chicago and most likely brings us to reality.
  7. After today's game against the Vikings are you all convienced that this "D" is still as good as everyone thinks? Even Ogunleye feels that the "D" has not had a solid effort. Too many mistakes again today and we're lucky that Minnesota struggle a little bit more then we did. Next Sunday night is going to be a real test as I just watched the first quarter of Seattle's game against the Giants and Seattle is winning 21-0. The mistakes we made so far are going to be exploited by Seattle next Sunday night. We are in deep trouble unless we realize that we need to have a mistake free game and no mental breakdowns.
  8. Again, two blowout wins against two very bad teams. Both games should have been shut outs, and giving up as much yardage as they did in both games leaves me a bit concerned. This defense should be number one in the league not number 10. Mental errors are costly and it shows that there may be some weakness in the "D".
  9. Does it seem that the defense is not as strong as it was last year to anyone else? It just seems that there is something missing and that they are still giving up too many big plays for yardage, and thankfully not for scores. What happens when we go to Minnesota on Sunday, and then go against Seattle the following week? Will the "D" be strong enough to make a statement or will we get lit up against these two teams. It just seems that the "D" does not want to make the statement to help everyone forget about the '85 "D" that just dominated everyone.
  10. Problem with C Benson is that he has no respect from his teammates at this time still stemming from his hold out a year ago. There seems to be more of an effort of everyone involved with TJ in the lineup versus C Benson. CB needs to eat crow, humble himself to his teammates and go about his business quietly and earn the respect to play. He also needs to trust his teammates as well and he has already stated that he does not trust the team.
  11. Giving up 230 yards to a journeyman quarterback, commiting a pass interference by not playing the ball and playing the receiver, having the opposition run up and down the field and having to make plays to stop them. A complete victory is where there are no mental errors, offense looks incredible, and special teams has a field day. No mistakes what so ever and complete domination of the ball is what helps to make a complete game.
  12. Too much left in the season. This was not a complete victory. Still to many mental breakdowns and not enough getting the job done. Things look good so far, at Minnesota may be more difficult than expected and then we are home to the defending NFC champs. Let's talk again after we get through week four.
  13. Will the young players ever learn no to give bulletin board material to the opposing team. Roy Williams is a marked man and which defensive back or linebacker administers the hit, it is yet to be determined. Would love to see a crossing pattern over the middle and Urlacher lay out Williams. Proability is that it will be Mike Brown with one devestating hit. Will make the Laydowns wish that they still had Charles Rodgers.
  14. It was a great way to start the season by destroying the Pack and giving Farve his first shut out as a Packer. Not enough red zone quality offense. Overall the game was pretty enjoyable to watch.
  15. The sad part is that there are a lot of people who listen to the writers of S.I. Personally I rely on Street & Smith's Pro Football Preview. The best part is that Don Pierson previews the entire NFC and has stated again that the Bears will most likely go at least 10-6 if not 11-5. I agree that the offense is not stable, especially with Ron Turner back in control however the defense will more than make up for the offensive short comings. Kick Off on 2006 is less than 48 hours away and I feel sorry for Farve having decided to come back. I think Urlacher will finally get the hit that he wants on Brett. Detroit at home after that and in Minnesota for week three. We should be 2-1 if not 3-0 to start the season.
  16. It might be nice however, who in the hell is going to pass to any of the receivers? Besides that Ron Turner definitely is not what he once was as an offensive coordinator. If fact lately Ron's play calling has been just that offensive. Jerry Angelo thinks is knows something about football and player evaluation, yet he still has not returned us to where Jim Finks & Jerry Vanisi had us through Mike Ditka's era as head coach. That's another thing that Micky McCaskey screwed up on, firing Da Coach. Lovie is only able to do so much without talent. Glad that the defense is worth a damn. The defense will continue to win games for us.
  17. The problem that I keep having with everyone on Rex Grossman is that they all think he is an NFL quarterback. Grossman played his college ball at Florida for Steve Spurrier. Spurrier created one hell of a college program with a college effective program. Being in Florida, Spurrier was able to recruit some decent talent to play within his system. I do not remember any skilled position player that had a successful career in the NFL after playing in Spurrier's system. Spurrier himself failed miserably in the NFL for an egotistical owner. I do remember how bad of a quarterback Shane Matthews was in the NFL, Danny Wuerful was not much better and everyone thinks that Grossman is a superior athlete. I just do not think that Grossman will ever amount to anything as his stats in college were inflated based on the system that he played in. Additionally, having become injury prone so far in his career continues to prove to me that he is not all that he is cracked up to be. Griese was a good pick up by Angelo however, we need to find a true quarterback and have an offensive coordinator who will create a good game plan that will lead to offensive success.
  18. This team being forcasted to go 14-2 and winning games by blow outs means to me that you must have been using something illegal when predicting how the season should go. Too many lopsided games, games being won that will most likely be loses once the season plays out. Realistically 10-6 or 11-5 is obtainable and Griese will wind up starting a lot sooner in the season then later. Grossman is not a quarterback that will ever be successful in the NFL and Orton bombed his senior year at Purdue. The defense won most of those games last year and will again this year.
  19. I watched that game against the Chargers last night and got to see how things looked. Defense was stellar again and special teams was adequate enough to score on a kick off return. Then there was the offense which again was disappointing to me. Everyone continues to say Grossman is the starter however until the end of the first half, Grossman looked pathetic. On his final drive he went 4 for 4 and then threw into double coverage and got picked again. Reminds me of the home opener against Detroit a couple of years ago when he was attempting to pull out a win and threw a pick to seal our fate. Griese looked good again with the second stringers and got a touchdown. Orton came in right after that and was just all right. I am not convinced that Grossman is a true NFL quarterback and he still has not proven that he should be the starter. At this point I would have to say Griese should start, Orton second and good ole' Rex bringing up the rear. I am also not convinced that Ron Turner remembers how to be a coordinator after his disasterous tenure at Illinois. Two more preseason games then it is on to Green Bay to defend the NFC North Title. Just hope that the offense gets on track and we have a decent quarterback leading the way. One and done in the playoffs is just not acceptable.
  20. Believe I found this talk forum from being a part of myspace.com. I am a native of Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg and currently live in Omaha NE. There are only four teams in professional sports that I really care a great deal about, The Cubs, Bears, Bulls & Blackhawks. Even with living in SoCal for 18 1/2 years never would give up rooting for my teams. I have enjoyed these groups so far and hope that they will add CubsTalk to the mix. I am also a contributor to the Bleacher Banter, independent newspaper for Chicago Cubs Fans.
  21. It is a little frightening that we are headed into another season and yet we still do not have a quality quarterback. Jerry Angelo banked on Grossman being something however, name one quarterback that did anything in the NFL after being at Florida in Steve Spurrier's system. We all know how well Spurrier did as a head coach in the NFL as well. I know of at least two busts in the NFL, Shane Matthews & Danny Wuerful. Griese may be all right however, everyone is still convinced if Grossman stays healthy, the offense will be all right. I am just not sure as I continue to watch other players we should have drafted have stellar careers, Dante Culpepper and Byron Leftwich just to name a couple. What do you think? Who should start this season or is there a trade we are able to make to get a quality quarterback?
