yeah, great complimentary picks by Poles. Our biggest need now is Edge, but i dont think anyone left is gonna be a world beater. I figure we will sign a free agent to a one year deal (Ngakoue? Clowney? no one long term)
The first pick tomorrow is going to be in high demand. I would take advantage of that and trade down to get back a low 5th or high 6th to replace the pick we traded earlier.

I LOOOOOVE POLES.
This dude gets it. OL, DL, CB, DL. He’s killing it.
Agreed. This draft is incredibly solid so far for us. Do you start looking best player available for the rest of the draft?

I love this pick. He's a plug-and-pay RT, who should be the starter for the next 10 years.

Found this draft interesting. A 7 round mock with the writer, Bears Insider Josh Shrock from NBC Sports, giving his take on what he would do if he were Poles. Love D Wright in a rd 1 trade down.
I traded down in my mock to get Wright. I would love this draft but I would pick a QB late (6th or 7th round) - someone like Max Duggan.

I used Brugler's draft as a reference as well but I traded back with Pittsburgh giving up 9 & 53 for picks 17, 32 and 80. * is where the pick matches Brugler.
17) Darnell Wright, RT, Tennessee
32) Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State
61) Sam LaPorta, TE, Iowa
64) Derick Hall, Edge, Auburn *
80) Zach Pickens, DT, South Carolina
103) Xavier Hutchinson, WR, Iowa State *
133) Luke Wypler, C, Ohio State *
136) Sydney Brown, S, Illinois
148) Kobie Turner, DT, Wake Forest *
218) Evan Hull, RB, Northwestern
258) Max Duggan, QB, TCU

I'm sure it was a cheap signing for depth at LB and a good ST player. Still, good move.
Agreed. I wonder if he's a replacement for Houston-Carson, who they have not resigned yet.

Poles will have a tough decision if Carter is there at #9. On one hand, you don't want to miss on your 1st round pick (the first time you have had one since taking over as GM) so you take a pass on a guy who is sliding down the boards. BUT, there is a possibility this guy is the next Aaron Donald. If so, it would be a brilliant selection. This pre-draft meeting with him is critical.
I'm not worried about the street racing episode. He wasn't racing. He wasn't drunk. He cooperated with the police. If he wasn't a celeb FB player, it would have never even been in the news.
The only thing I want to know is where his head is now? Why wasn't he better prepared for his pro day? Is he struggling because of the loss of his friend? The adverse publicity during the combine? The reports of him slipping down the draft boards?
My guess? He has worked his ass off, played a brilliant career, and now sees everything he strived for falling apart. He needs help.
I agree he needs help. However, he didn't cooperate with the police initially. He lied on several occasions.
His talent is tantalizing but it's a hard pass.

Poles is a breath of fresh air compared to Pace simply from a press conference perspective.

I agree with you. Some on the forum are celebrating his departure. Not me. I think it was a mistake to allow him to leave.
Yes, maybe Herbert shines as RB1. Yes, maybe we draft a RB that becomes a Pro Bowler. But maybe that is too many maybes.
Poles came from KC and they don't spend money at RB. He didn't draft Monte. Love the kid and hate to see him go (especially in division) but we need to trust Poles and Cunningham have a plan.

I absolutely love this trade. Masterful work by the front office. The fun begins on Monday.

Trading back makes sense for us but what player will a team want at 9? Hopefully Carter drips to 9 and we get to make that decision.
If Richardson or Levis drops, we can definitely trade down with someone like the Titans.

ARob is available, he had some good chemistry with Fields, not! Who is going to willingly trade for that dude after seeing him taking every play off that he wasn't targeted?
Hard pass.

The other aspect that hasn't been mentioned is the fact he lied about his involvement/location on multiple occasions, which speaks to his character. That is a huge concern to me.

There is no way they trade Fields. They want to see how he plays with another off season and a better team around him. I agree with Pix. He'll prove himself and will be the Bears QB for the next 10 years.

Listened to an interview with Rick Spielman this morning. He worked directly with Warren for years. Said the Bears have made a fantastic hire and that Warren will definitely stay in his lane letting Poles run the football side but that he would be there for him to advise and consult when necessary.

It is considered a great stadium. I'm thinking, the Bears need one about 80-90k given the huge market they dominate. Go big or go home!
I don't think it will be bigger than 70K.

Roquan is a talented football player. But to get paid that kind of money, you need to affect games. I dont see the turnovers or critical tackles for loss from him. He's just not that dominant of a player. We did the right thing.
I'd pay Ray Lewis $20M a year.Agreed 100%.

I am shocked the McCaskeys have finally done the right thing - hire an external with experience to run their organization. This is huge.

The thing is, you gotta upgrade RT, C and possibly a G. Whitehair is aging and injury prone and I simply do not trust Jenkins to man up and be a pro, even though he's really good. So, we have three positions that need pushed/upgrade before Jones. That many will be a complete mess to practice and evaluate before they can begin to gain any continuity. Just don't like it.
Jones is the only player on offense that took every snap last year. He's starting at either left or right tackle for us next season.

first... for me it is WAY to early to say poles is any where near a bust. this year we broke this team right down to the bare ground. it needed to be done for once in the last 40 plus years. we have struggled every year trying to plug the individual supposed blue chip player in to make us a contender. this has NOT worked and in reality unless you get really lucky it won't work for any sustained credibility.
even if you let this season slide, we are NOT going to contend for a S.B. in 23. there is just to much to do with what poles has been left with. what we should expect is not a super bowl run but see the bricks laid for a solid foundational team going on from 23. that said... if the foundation starts to crumble and we can't see a light at the end of the 23 tunnel then it's time to be concerned about poles. just not yet.
second... lets get back to reality on our draft picks and free agents. nearly every player drafted needs a three year window to really evaluate what his potential is going to be going forward. you should see improvements each year, that is a given. but traditionally the second year is the let down for most draft picks because more is expected from them than as rookies. that has been my observation.
speaking of rookies, that these players are not performing like pro bowlers at season end is completely understandable. they are going to wear down quicker than seasoned vets. the season is considerably longer (now 17 games compared to 16) than college and the practices and conditioning is or should be more intense also. they are physically and mentally wearing down in the last quarter of an nfl season.
what you should be seeing is how much potential is really there for each rookie during the next 3 years and what role he is going to play with the team if he sticks.
Agreed 100%. It's way too early to judge. If we are at the same place at the end of next year then we have a serious problem.

? Likewise. It finally happened. Although, that's only part of my dream:
- Tankathon
- GM trades down and stockpiles picks like the '90s Cowboys
- GM drafts 99% from dominant programs in major conferences (i.e. no Trubisky types)
- GM focuses draft/FA strategy on OL/DL. The cornerstone of the team. It's time to pick/acquire these positions until there are zero holes.
- GM deprioritizes LB & RB in draft. Those dudes can be found later way more often. **Cough** Kwiatkowski **Cough** Sanborn
- GM tells HC to join the 21st Century and prioritize passing & pass blocking. I love watching Fields take off, but I'd rather see him around for 15 years throwing for 4K a year.
Agreed with all of this.
