But I'd say that also indicates they don't want to draft a QB because regardless of trading up or staying put. They could put most of that money $15-20mil to good use elsewhere on the roster. 22 and beyond are all playoff teams set with QBs. IMO this was just click bait for Bears fans and media pundits with no logical basis whatsoever.

Take the kid from William and Mary. In fact he may end up a 2nd rd pick. He has all the tools. What I saw on film last night he already is we’ll set as a run blocker. Pass pro is good but that’s poor competition. Definitely needs a year of seasoning. If you grab him and let him and Kirian compete for LT next year with the loser the backup I think we’ll be fine.

Edmunds and Edwards. There’s no reason for Johnson to think he has to get all of the roster fixed this year. If you look at the two year horizon then BPA becomes more likely at LB should someone they really like fall to say Rd 3.

Simmons couldn’t do anything but wiggle around at the pro day. He’s out of the first round for me. That’s not out of the first for all teams per se. I just see more value for the Bears with so many other options in the first.

I’m seeing more mock drafts with the Bears selecting a DT at 10. As much as LT would be nice I haven’t seen one yet worth drafting over a likely Pro Bowl DT. Despite the depth in this draft there is a significant drop off after the top 3 DTs. Whereas DE sees a drop immediately after Carter. The DE you get at 20 won’t be much different from the one you can get at 39 or 41 albeit with varying athletic traits.

I've already been saying we should draft Nolen at 10 so I can't call him my sleeper pick. For me he's the ideal pick, with Kenneth Grant the backup choice. One thing about the stats of Graham vs. Nolen.... Graham lined up next to Grant. Nolen had some very good players aligned with him as well but not a top 20 pick. For my "let's fire Poles" pick: Shemar Stewart. Classic looks like Tarzan plays like Jane choice.

Only in Chicago can we go from "we've needed a Pro Bowl OG for years"... to 3 weeks later.... we can trade our All Pro OG this year because we've trained his replacement in 6 mo. It's all theoretically possible but I think my odds of winning the lottery and buying the team are better than the odds of this team building a rookie into a Pro Bowl OG by wk 8. I'm hoping Poles prefers to keep good Oline depth for an entire season, and maybe even into the playoffs, over having a 4th Rd pick.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Membou be the first Oline off the board. It's all a roll of the dice this year for first Oline drafted, probably the most unclear it's been for some time. I'm already seeing some mocks with him in the top 10.

The number one value I want this year is seeing Caleb Williams stay on his feet. Two we are not a good team especially not on offense. I don’t really view us as being in a position to trade away any depth. I too was ok keeping Tev on short deal while we drafted his replacement. Sadly, nobody ever offered me Thuney for next years 4th in those discussions. the Bears are not going after big FAs next year. Keeping Braxton as a depth piece this year can still net a comp pick down the road albeit delayed gratification.

I agree we need a good WR3. Neither FA WR so far fits the need.

Yeah, I'm still frustrated by Brisker's injuries because I really liked his talent and energy on the field. His health is top priority.

Pickens might well show something in training camp but I'm not at all optimistic. If for no other reason because he almost never flashed on a positive play. Tyler Scott is still what he was in college, a semi-fast in-a-straight-line WR. He's not that quick in his cuts IMO and still struggles with his release at times. He also does not have great hands. That said even if we end up cutting him I expect he'll stick around the NFL for a few more years. He offers just enough to be someone's 5th WR/returner. I don't really think OZ is an upgrade per se I just think he fits better what Ben Johnson wants on his routes (ala Amon Ra).

Yes. Let me add I’ve watched Georgia vs Texas and Alabama. I see too many plays where he’s just blocked. There’s no counter move. Whereas someone like Scourton just keeps battling.

We don't need a skinny little ILB, just take the highest graded DT in the draft at 10 (per NFL.com). I did watch some highlights of Jalon Walker plus an entire game against Alabama. I like him, just not at 10 and probably not in the first round at all given our needs. As much as I like his quick twitch around the pocket IMO he's more of an accessory pass rusher. He gets controlled a lot around the LOS. If I'm dropping back to around 20 and I go edge i'd be taking James Pearce Jr. who also has enough athleticism to drop into coverage a bit but offers more at the LOS. If we have the horses up front on the Dline we don't need a 1st Rd ILB behind them to shine.
