  1. There is always something missing from the glass chicago. I choose to trust it will be filled with something and it might be enough to be satisfied without being full. I choose to look at what we have. -Hester is fast and capable of magnificent things. He scares opponents. Jay can get him the ball... -Olsen may be the biggest secret weapon we have and I am interested to see him show up. -Forte, able to do it all and makes it look good. I think he can keep doin it. -Pace, Williams, Kreutz, and a RT that has done it before. -Marinelli, known to be "the best" D Line coach there is. -Pro bowl players on Defense, where infusion of youth and speed can make a big difference, a draft on the way.. -Special teams that top the league. these are a few of my favorite things...
  2. Maybe, but when did Jeff George "in his prime" have a chance to play for his childhood team and benifit from the commitment to special teams and Defence AND a running game that Jay is gonna get? It takes All that. Just like Jay said in his interview. it takes offense, defense, special teams and great coaching. We will get to find out about our coaches but now we finally will have an offense I believe. A QB like this with a young RB like we have, and the support that I choose to believe is above average will result in OUR BEARS having what has for so long been missing or inttermittant. I have confidence our coaches and GM can ressurect our Defence. Our special teams is second to none. The coaches get to prove themselves this year with some brand new, re-motivated horses to execute the gameplan and vision. I can't wait to watch it develop!
  3. I want to post some things I was thinking today but I can't figure out how to start a new thread. I agree that Olsen is going to tear it up this year. I read one where some scout specificially mentioned how accurate Cutler is when he throws down the middle of the field. Not that Olsen only gets used there! Jay is going to make our recievers so much better. We are in that place again where we get to find out what we have now that we have a "different" passer. This we have a new combo attempting EVERY pass this year. Hester and Bennett are both "supposed" to have "gotten it" at the end of last year. All our TE's are good. Forte is Great at everything he does! We have an interesting developing story at with the O-line but we do have compitition at evry position. 'Cept maybe C where I believe Beekman is the backup? and 4 guards. I expect Angelo to draft Defense and give these coaches a chance to do what they do. Each Defensive coach is in the perfect role for them. I don't really know the new D backs coach but I choose to give him and our hiring department the benifit of my optimism. I see us going with what we have and letting this year be a growing together and getting to learn how this group comes together as an offense. we will find out what works, doesn't work and whats missing. We've filled in a HUGE "what's missing" now I think the prudent choice is to let that become what it is to become. before making any other additions. BUT w/e. One more note on the OLine. I think Orlando will start the season and his "name brand" will lend us credibility and hope for the season. While the soap opera storyline will be when Williams comes in (how is yet to be determined) and the commitment to excellence he will bring to keep his job. I see interesting developments and opportunity on the O Line. but thats a storyline well into the future.. One last thing, These signings send down a huge message and I predict maybe even a "slogan?" for the season like "finish" that one year.. anyway, one of the quotes I say alot was, "we decided that if we were gonna be in this thing we were gona be In it to win it". I think our players will take this message from the top and display it on the field. perhaps a confidence in the front office and thier commitment to winning was missing last year? what do you think? I take my comments off of the air...
  4. bump.. it was interesting to see some old viewpoints.

    Ced

I really hope he gets picked up by anyone but Denver. If this kid had a team around him that could block for $H!+ he would be able to put up some really good numbers. I am personally quite upset with the decision to kick him after these questionable run ins with the "law" Nfo made me feel a little better with his post about Ced but unless we get a healthy Kevin Jones (who would need to learn the offense still) I am still very scared about our RB depth. That and the article about Ced never wanting to be here tempers my anger at this (IMO) hurried and shortsighted decision on Angelo's part. I can understand everyone likes to blame the RB for the failures to run the ball but you all should know by now, using denver's example, that 90% of it is all about the blockers. So if Ced is lucky enough to go somewhere that can block at all, many of you will be.. well you know what you will be. I can also understand how so many of you hate the dude so much, specially with this new rumor that he cried cause he was upset about being drafted by Chicago, and the fact that you listen to local sports radio with all the bashing I suspect goes on there. I myself can't help but identify with the misunderstood as I often find myself in thier number. It seems, all too often, that if you don't fit the standard mold that everyone is comfortable with, it matters little what you actually mean or do. If it can be misconstrued or twisted against you certain people will do it. So in that sense I am happy for Ced to be getting out of Chicago, where some of you can be hellish toward underachievers! But in the sense of my team, I hope the loss of talent is offset by some MUCH Improved chemistry! (which IMO was a huge element to our success in our 2001 year) Anyway, for the record, since I rarely post anymore (I miss the old format very much) The offensive success is almost entirely dependant on the Offensive Line for its success this year (every year). So banter as much as you like about Grossman and Forte and the recievers but NONE of them can do ANYTHING without some much improved blocking. IMHO One more time cause I know how some of you are I am OK with Ced getting fired if it makes us truely a better, more close knit team with character and unity or whatever. But it was still an overreaction that I think will be regretted sooner rather than later. p.p.s missed some of you. but not all! LOL I still won't be able to post much but I found a little time today
