  1. Are you at the game? Because the view I have on TV doesn't show guys wide open. It looks like the WRs are covered and Cutler is under pressure.
  2. Whatever. You're delusional. This is only game two and you have probably already called out Martz at least ten times, if not more. I ripped Martz early last week and you ripped him at least three times during the game thread. You can't straddle both sides of the fence, and then act like you were high-fiving Martz the entire game.
  3. Johnny Knox = Still quitting on routes. One bad, one good. Unfortunately, the bad sets up perfect INT opportunities for the D. BTW - Third QTR with a 10 point deficit is not the time to totally abandon the run, regardless how horrible the blocks are.
  4. There is no surprise what ANY defense is going to do against the Bears!! You have to be dense not to realize this. They're going to blitz, send extra guys, pressure, drill Cutler. That is the plan for every freaking team in the NFL when they play the Bears. And nothing on O can be done, other than running (which I want more of), if the blocking is not there or the WRs are getting open. The entire first half, other than a few plays, was Cutler being pressured and/or Cutler utilizing mobility to stretch out a play while waiting for a WR to get a step. Believe what you want about the Turner/Martz thing. You rip Martz every week, multiple times per week, and multiple times per game thread. The only reason you'll change at this point is because I've called you on it. I didn't rip Turner that often, regardless of how often I ripped him.
  5. Draw play = Called. Worked fairly well. Screen play = Tried to call, but the D pressured Cutler and blew up the blocking set up for the screen. Quick slant = Got Bennett injured. I agree he should change things up, particularly there should be more running in situations like this. But to pretend like he can do much about how shitty the WRs and OL is playing is just nonsense.
  6. You're right. The difference in this game is one mental mistake by the Bears' secondary. Otherwise it's pretty even and the Bears probably have the overall edge.
  7. I don't love him nearly as much as you hate him. You rail on the dude when it's VERY apparent that there isn't a thing he could do to help the offense. At a certain point you have to realize that A] There isn't a single WR on the team getting open, and B] The OL isn't performing very well since Cutler has been under pressure the entire game. And when the OL DOES hold up, which isn't often, see A. The big difference between Martz and Turner, other than the disparity with which I ripped him and you rip Martz (I didn't rip him nearly as much as you rip Martz) is that Martz puts in plays that would confuse and surprise the opponents' defense if the Bears' players held up their end of the bargain, while Turner put in plays that surprised absolutely no one, could be called pre-snap by the average fan, and demanded perfect execution from the offense in order for success. The former can succeed when the Bears' O doesn't perform perfectly because there may be defensive confusion; the latter can't.
  8. Things I like about the D this game: -Stuffing the Saints in the Red Zone Things I don't like about the D this game: -The performance by Brees is starting to remind me of what Manning did in the Super Bowl.
  9. Dude, WTF did Martz do to you? Did he touch you in improper places when you were a youngster in peewee football or something? My goodness it's ridiculous how much you irrationally hate this dude. If the WRs are getting blanketed, and the Saints have a free rusher on every other play, there isn't much Martz or Cutler can do on pass plays. Other than that quick hitter like the one to Bennett earlier in the game that almost cost the Bears a starting WR, there aren't many options.
  10. Agreed. Which is why I said what I said about Faulk. It's not like he was going to say, "Ya know, Forte needs to take that deal. The players are way too greedy now. Especially Briggs."
  11. If you look closely at the long screen pass to Forte, there were three defensive players who got blocked by Clutts. Nice to have a fullback.
  12. Note: What the hell else is Marshall Faulk going to say? These former players still talk to current players, and they certainly aren't on the side of the owners.
  13. I can't believe he has the nerve to whine about highlights while acting as the coach of a team that regularly got blown for about 15 years by the media. Behind the Cowboys, and maybe now the Patriots, there is no other team with as wide a bandwaggoning fan-base as the 49ers, and it's at least partially due to the overwhelming media support they received year after year after year.
  14. haha. Yes. Politics is out of the question. But I just don't believe we can ever know what a player on a different team would have done if he were on the Bears.
  15. Now that is difficult to argue with. There was definitely a difference between this year's week 1, and the entire last year. Still, 5 sacks is too many. If this OL even improves to average by the end of the year, and can keep Jay clean the majority of the game, the offense will continue to torch opponents and the Bears will be VERY difficult to defeat.
  16. That is kind of my point, lemon. And I get the thinking. I just don't agree with it. Omiyale may have started, but he was atrocious and probably should never start again. Spencer was not really even wanted by his former team. Louis is not a stud by any means. He may not even be average. And Webb showed last year - and yesterday - that he is below average at best. I hope they improve, but 5 sacks per game is way more than the team averaged last year, and that pounding cost the Bears, and Jay Cutler, dearly.
  17. The question mark at the end of this thread title is appropriate, because Colon tore it during Week 1 for the Steelers, and there is no way of knowing if the same injury would have happened were he in a Chicago Bears uniform. There are a billion things that would have had to be similar (play, opponent, angles, speed, hydration, etc.) and we just can't say that he would have had the same problem here. It's not like he had a history of tricep problems or something.
  18. Yeah, but you have to take that with a grain of salt because Tony Siragusa is nuclear-level retarded and is wrong just as often as he's right. There's a reason he doesn't get to sit in the booth with the big boys, and only part of that reason is his body odor. And let's not forget Webb got more help on his side than did Carimi...who is also a rookie. It is no surprise that Webb sucks. The Bears should have found his replacement in the offseason.
  19. Couldn't agree more. I'm very pleased with the play of all but one player from yesterday. Other than Webb, there is no reason to hand out passing grades to every other player on the team. And the DL should get a reward of some kind.
  20. I'm pretty much in agreement, I just wish the Bears' FO would have given Tice one more tools to work with. Marinelli got multiple tools added to the toolbox, even had enough to let a potentially decent tool go. Right now, however, it looks like the DL will be destroying QBs all year. IF that pattern continues, and the front four get consistent pressure, the cover-2 defense will work wonders this year.
  21. Let's hope. As far as I'm concerned, he is the only player on the entire team who didn't have a good to great game. He was pressured often, got beat multiple times, and had penalties.
  22. HAHAHA! Love it. I keep asking why the Bears don't get respect. I wonder if they'll get it now? They DOMINATED the Falcons. Even with the flaws the Bears had, they showed they are better in every facet of the game than the Falcons. What is even better is all the "which team will regress this year" predictions. Nearly every single person includes the Bears in their list. What now? They just curb-stomped the team that many picked to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
  23. Game MVP: D-Line. Melton, Izzy, Reed, Big Toe, Peppers, Okoye...OMFG. They are going to cause havoc all year and castrate opposing offensive game plans.
  24. LOL. Just wait until Marion Barber gets playing time.
