  1. I'm in the same camp, MadLith. I've had it with these guys, especially Lovie. And I'm sure we'll be even sicker if the guys who come in as replacements all have ties to old Lovie Smith days.
  2. 1. I don't know that Olsen has really improved, per se. 2. I think the WRs have been there more than once, and just needed a competent OC or stud QB. Enter Cutler, without the competent OC, and results happen. 3. Regarding who could have done better than Lovie this year given the limitations in personnel, are you serious? Half the coaches in the NFL probably would have done better, because they wouldn't have had a limp-dick OC, and they wouldn't have been wedded to the horrible idea of the Cover-0. As others have said, the best part is that Lovie and Co. are on a short leash this year...as they should have been before this season even began.
  3. Good article, Connor. But I read the most important piece in the subtitle, "He's a proven coach with ties to Lovie Smith and organization." That's what it all comes down to. It's less about getting someone good, and more about getting one of Lovie's boys.

    Martz?!?!?!

Other thoughts about Martz: -After Detroit let go of him, they suddenly became the only team to go 0-16 in NFL history. -While in Detroit, Shaun McDonald and Mike Furrey put up huge numbers. Read those two names again. -Kevin Jones, yes, the same one who has pretty much never looked all that great since college or good since his rookie year, had 93 receptions during the two years with Martz -Kevin Jones, yeah, the same one, had arguably the best year of his career in 2006, and still had a great year in 2007 considering he was injured and had to split some carries with TJ Duckett -Kitna put up 39 TDs and 42 INTs in two years with Martz, while playing with an OL arguably worse than Cutler's THIS YEAR, and an overall team that was inarguably much worse. -In SF, the combination of Shaun Hill and JT Sullivan put up 3700 passing yards, 21TDs, 19INTs, and were significant for the only times in their careers. SHAUN HILL AND JT SULLIVAN! Both of those guys are bums, and they're lucky to even be in the NFL. -Frank Gore went for over 1000 yards rushing with Martz. -Yes, Vernon Davis regressed while Martz was the OC, but let's look at these facts: 2007: QBs were Trent Dilfer and #1 pick Alex Smith for 13 games, that Hill scrub for two games, and Chris (LOL) Weinke for one game. So, that is 13 games of competent QBs. 2008: QBs were SHAUN HILL AND JT SULLIVAN! 2009: QBs were SHAUN HILL and #1 pick Alex Smith. Guess what? You know all those TDs Vernon Davis got? His breakout season? 3 TDs from that douche Shaun Hill, and 10 from Alex Smith. I propose the idea that Martz may have limited the TE somewhat, but the TEs were much more limited by the scrubs at QB during the 2008 season. ----------------------- In short, his positives still outweigh his negatives in my opinion. I'm crossing my fingers hoping the Bears get him.

    Martz?!?!?!

With all that said, nobody can argue that his offense, IN DETROIT, with JOHN FRIGGIN KITNA, put up huge stats. Now just imagine what he could do with a MUCH better QB in Cutler. Is there a risk? Sure. But isn't that risk just as bad, if not worse, with some lame one-year guy who'll come into Chicago with his "big break" in coaching? Or even worse, a guy getting the shot because the Bears front office knows he'll be a Lovie Smith whipping boy. I think so. Take the bad with the good, good with the bad. Turner ignored the WRs for the most part, and didn't do much to help the TEs or RBs either. With Martz, at least the Bears would get maximization out of the WRs. And since Olsen is essentially a big WR, I'm hoping that Martz has learned from his mistake with Davis in SF. Once again, it's a risk I'd be willing to take for an offense that is nearly guaranteed to score 30+ a game. Will there be risks with Martz? Yes. Will there be more with him than with others? Yes. But think about the benefits and detriments, the floors and the ceilings. With Martz, both are high. As I see it, Martz's floor is higher than the majority of OC's floors, and his ceiling is leaps and bounds about others. Turner couldn't hold Martz's jock strap, and Shoop couldn't hole the cup. Since this is more than likely a one year experiment any way, let's shoot for the moon. I'm sick of the Bears not going for it. I'd rather see a team that goes for it, tries to take risks and destroys the other team, versus the "hold'em close and hope to win in the end"-approach from Lovie and company.

    Martz?!?!?!

Do I like the idea of Martz? Hell yes. He would make the offense dangerous again. He would put up 30+ a game. And don't be mistaken about his time after St. Louis, because Kitna tore it up with Martz. What has Kitna done without Martz? Yeah, that's what I thought. I like the idea of an experienced OC, with a history of success, something the Bears have not had in...well, forever. Do I fear he may waste TE talent? Yes, based on his history. But it is not like Turner has maximized the talent on the roster. You guys act as if Turner was the reason for any TE success, rather than a hindrance (which is what he was). Give me an OC that makes our offense formidable again, and I can live with the "possibility" that he won't use the TE right. Of course, since he is a bonafide offensive guru, I prefer to cross my fingers and have faith that he will maximize Olsen's talent...something NEVER done by Turner.
  7. I am with you guys. I will not go to a game this year, and will not buy any gear either. I will follow the team and this retarded staff, hoping they do the smart thing for a change before the Bears become a laughingstock like the Lions.
  8. I sure as hell hope you meant someone other than Turner, like Chico, or I fear you really need to lay off the crackpipe.
  9. I wouldn't put it past either of those tools to say that. Pure sour grapes from two dickheads who have proven at best to be average coaches and completely over their heads in the NFL.
  10. The only legit part of that is the blocking part, and even that is debatable. Fast, little guys can go across the middle and move the chains just as well (see Welker, Engram, Holt, etc).
  11. If the guy getting the two or three yards is a traditional FB who plows holes during his day job, then I am cool with it. Otherwise, give me a homerun hitter nine times out of ten over a plodder who is thought of as a "short yard specialist."
  12. LOL, Sproles. The Bears have a near identical player, and he has been wasted. You don't buy a new putter if you've only used your current putter off the tee from 400 yards away; you use the one you have now APPROPRIATELY first. Unfortunately for the Bears, Turner is not much of a "golfer."
  13. Kills me to see this opinion, still. The "big chain mover" is a made up need. The little, speedy chain mover works just as well (see Wes Welker). Between Bennett, Knox, and Hester, the Bears have a Ton of weapons. Also add in the unused Iglesias and the potential is huge. Oh, let's not forget the emergence of Aromashodu pretty much fills the big WR "need" anyway. Drafting or getting a WR this offseason would be an ignorant waste (unless it is a stud at a crazy discount).
  14. I voted reluctantly for the second option, but hope the entire staff (minus Toub) gets fired. This staff's idiocy and passive approach disgusts me.
  15. I hate, HATE, the idea of getting a RB with any pick near the beginning of the draft. The idea is horrible. Forte was a stud in his rookie year, and has been injured this year. Add that to the ATROCIOUS OL, and the incompetent OC. Fire Turner and draft OL, and suddenly Forte will not only be great again, but an all star. As for a complimentary back, Bell has looked good in limited action, and we STILL don't know what Wolfe can do (thanks to Turner). But if we DO get another RB, please let us get a homerun hitter like Chris Johnson, and not a plodding big guy like Brandon Jacobs. Isn't it about time we had a guy who can take it to the house on every play?
  16. Agreed, hatred. Genuine, red-faced, rage-filled hatred.
  17. The article is dead-on, despite the fact that they quoted Jaws, a guy who clearly talks out of his ass. The fact that Turner can even reply to this article in any way in his defense is just ridiculous. I know he HAS to do it, but it's hilarious.
  18. Either way, this is for Cutler haters in general. Look at all the INTs or STFU. Jaws was plain wrong, and video proof, PROOF, is on NFL.com.
  19. I looked at EVERY INT on NFL.com, and I can unequivocally say that Jaws is talking out of his ass. Even if I am harsh, there is no way more than about 16-18 are on Cutler...which is admittedly not good. But to say 22 out of 26 are on Cutler is f'ng stupid. I defy ANYONE to look at all the highlights, read the play by plays, and rewatch games, and then try to come up with that bogus ass number Jaws orally excreted on national television. I am even willing to debate on an INT by INT basis. Jaws was just reading stat lines and box scores. No way in hell he watched all the game film and came up with those numbers. If he did, I guarantee he fell asleep somewhere in the middle and woke up during the Baltimore game.
  20. 3 good quarters, 1 bad "play it safe" quarter, and the Bears go for the kill in OT? Who kidnapped Turner? Easily his best gameplan all year. It flowed, kept the vikings off balance all night, and gave us a glimpse of what this ofdense can do with an OC calling a competent game (and an OL playing well). Bear Down!!
  21. Could this breakout game be the first towards Aromashodu becoming the Chicago version of Brandon Marshall?
  22. I won't even take the bait. You're clearly being stupid just to get a response. See Connorbear's reply about announcers if you want the real answer.
  23. I give a crap because I am a Bear fan, and get sick of the lazy reporting that causes people to ignorantly base opinions on stats and stats alone.
  24. The pick this game is all Cutler. He tried to force it. But to argue on the side of Jaws in this regard is highly ignorant. Nobody can tell me only two or three are on others, and the rest are on Cutler. Sounds like Jaws is analyzing into things like the "almost INT" stat.
