If the Bears HADN'T traded for Jay Cutler, and you now have 20/20 hindsight, what would you have done with the draft picks?
I see that I don't have to reply. I would have done cartwheels with this draft, even though I don't know who Sidbury is. And I can guaran-damn-tee that two of those guys would be starting for the Bears on the OL right now...if not three.

The Emperor Has No Clothes...
I think we can all agree on one thing: Omilaye sucks, and nearly everyone on this board could get at least one sack on him in a real live game.

Nothing against Cutler, but he was not the answer
You may have coined "Zombie Smith," but I've been saying "Zombie Lovie" for a while (may have gotten that from someone on this board as well). The other term was Loathie Smith. Well, I combined them...so you only get partial credit. Zombie Loathie is the new way of referring to the Chicago Bears' current coach.

Post this to the other thread!

I'll put in my 2 cents later, after considerable research, but I'm wondering what everyone else would do. I'm not talking about picking out all the guys who have excelled this year and shoving them into the Bears lineup. I'm talking about going with the glaring holes the Bears have, and picking the guys in the most logical order. Keep the original picks that the Bears had to give up in order to trade for Cutler, and I wonder how many holes could be filled.

Very interesting thought. I'm going to create a new thread entitled, "If the Bears HADN'T traded for Jay Cutler, and you now have 20/20 hindsight, what would you have done with the draft picks?"

Have you been watching the games? The Bears may need a #1, stud WR, but that is about 10th on the list of needs. If the Bears had concentrated on OL they'd DEFINITELY be winning now, because the QB/WR/TE combo looks pretty good behind a completely terrible OL, and the RB looked pretty great last year when the OL did more that imitate five zombies from a cheap B-flick. I'll give you credit though...I will now refer to Lovie Smith as Zombie Loathie.

Starts up front
AMEN! Just look at last year's draft, pick by pick, and tell me that's not the case. The Bears passed on several good OL prospects in favor of guys who probably rated lower overall, but higher in Angelo's philosophy of drafting.

Sounds familiar. I'd say that it isn't just a recent development like you assert. I still claim that Emmitt Smith was a slightly above average RB who just happened to have the best OL in history for the better part of his career.

The Perfect Storm
The cover-2 vs. the 2009 Bengals... DL predominantly rushes around the edges, and the DTs get no push. OL gets huge push, run-blocks well, and the RB is a sledgehammer. DBs play off the ball, never bump-and-run, and cover "areas" A talented group of WRs run free through what is essentially a timid zone, while a QB with pin-point precision continually finds the holes built into the cover-2. The 2009 Bengals are perfectly built to destroy the cover-2. Perfect Storm, indeed.

Emotionally, Lovie is Spock. Coaching, he's ensign Johnson.

You gotta be kidding, dude. 1) The defense MADE the Bears pass by getting torched by Palmer. 2) The offensive line gave Cutler nearly no time to pass. Put those two things together, and three interceptions is pretty minimal.

Love how the replay of Payne's personal foul, which it was, was a direct result of a jersey hold by OchoCinco...easy on the slo-mo to see the jersey pull in his hand. And the very next play the LT gets away with a hold again. This has been on of the worst officiated games I've ever seen. The Bears are getting killed, and would be losing without this stuff, but with it they don't stand a chance.- Bears @ Cincinnati Game Thread
FINALLY!!! One of the few holds called on the Bengals offense when there have been several.- Bears @ Cincinnati Game Thread
Want to disgust yourself? Play the game I'm playing... On every play I isolate, and completely focus on Omilaye. I watch him get destroyed when he doesn't get help from Kreutz. Then I remind myself he is making a ton of money to suck more at his job than I have ever even come close to sucking at ANY job.- Bears @ Cincinnati Game Thread
I can't believe that was called when considering the nasty holds that were NOT called against the Bengals on their long runs.- Bears @ Cincinnati Game Thread
What was the point of the last pass to Hester? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?- Bears @ Cincinnati Game Thread
On EVERY play, both running and passing, the OL is letting someone get in Cutler's face, or at least getting a hand on him. NOW will people listen about this OL? It was the #1 need before the draft, and before the season, but all I heard was stuff about the WRs and other positions. This team succeeds and fails with the OL.- Bears @ Cincinnati Game Thread
How in the hell is that not holding on the RT, AGAIN! Hunter had his jersey come out@!!!! What the f*#( is going on with these refs helping make this story?!- Bears @ Cincinnati Game Thread
Wow. The play action, is KILLING the Bears. It's the PLAY ACTION! You know, the PLAY FRIGGIN ACTION...the thing that worked so well a few times for the Bears but seems to be something hated all of the sudden. This is ugly.- Bears @ Cincinnati Game Thread
The Cover-2 just plain sucks ass, folks. Period. It's passive, lame, and has built in holes for the offense to exploit every time. I'd much rather have a defense that was at least a surprise from time to time.- Bears @ Cincinnati Game Thread
FTFY- Bears @ Cincinnati Game Thread
Did you see Lovie just now firing the team up?- Bears @ Cincinnati Game Thread
Is Tillman wearing roller skates? Because, if he isn't, that is one of the worst examples of footwork by a DB in NFL history. - Bears @ Cincinnati Game Thread
