  1. So lets say you don't have Knox. The wide receiving corps currently is: Marshall Bennett Hester Weems Sanzenbacher Am I forgetting anyone? At the very least, that means you need at least 1 more wideout. If you think weems is more of a 6th (which I've seen some people say; e.g., his value is on special teams), than that means you really have 2 spots open. However, with the money the Bears are paying Hester, I could see the argument Hester shouldn't be anything worse than a 4th. Which means I'm 50/50 on whether they will add 1 or 2 more wideouts. They could always go 1, wait till closer to camp when they have a better sign as to what Knox will do, and pick up someone that is a veteran cap casualty around June.

With the risk surrounding Forte, this makes more sense. If you get a guy like Bush, at what point do you see what kind of trade market Forte has? Say you have Forte, Bell, Barber. That is a pretty solid backfield and you might get a 2nd plus another pick for Forte (and save some serious coin). I haven't thought it all through and I'd prefer to keep Forte, however, lots of things to think about.
  3. There is a rumor running around that the Bears are talking to Royal. He had almost agreed to a deal when another team came out of left field. Cutler mentioned he talked to Royal yesterday as well. I put the odds at 50/50 that he ends up with the Bears.

Tania Ganguli ‏@taniaganguli Mincey just walked in. Said he was 5 minutes from signing with the #Bears when Gene Smith called and talked him into staying #Jaguars

Bell isn't what I'd call a banger. His style is very similar to Forte and he's most definitely not a short yardage back. Bush is that short yardage 3rd down guy. He's better than that though so I don't know why he'd pick the Bears.

Interesting. He's a good rb but no idea the Bears would be interested in throwing that much coin at a rb.
  7. Yep. Its official, he's signed.

Chargers resign Gaither, so you can cross him off the list.
  9. No way. Bennet will be nothing worse than a #3 for the Bears. THe major problem is the Bears are going to be paying Hester a lot of money to return punts.
  10. Lot of talk that the Bears are still looking at wideout. Not sure if it will be via FA or draft. They indicate that there is still concerns about Knox and that also was a big reason the Bears made this move.
  11. There are some thoughts that Hester, who is due a 10M roster bonus, might be traded.
  12. Per espn radio 1000.
  13. Adam Schefter ‏ @AdamSchefter Filed to ESPN: Lions reached agreement with WR Calvin Johnson on a seven-year, $132 million extension that includes $60 million guaranteed.
  14. Technically we didn't win anything last year because our QB got hurt. There were other flaws to the team but this was one of the best teams in football last year (or at least playing like it) prior to Cutler going down.
  15. Most people talking about signing multiple wideouts were talking about signing multiple cheaper wideouts vs. signing Vincent Jackson and trading for Marshal. Or signing Vjax/Colston.
  16. - Pretty excited about Marshall. - Indicated he talked to Marshall yesterday and Marshall is very bummed about the incident and perception but Cutler said Marshall is a good guy and Cutler will do what he needs to keep him out of the club. He said don't be too quick to judge Marshall though - When talking to Marshall said they needed to be patient and he's going to have to work and get familiar with the offense, etc. - They talked a bit about Weems, he didn't know much about Weems - Talked about Eddie Royal signing with the Skins and Cutler interupted saying he had not been signed, indicated he'd love to have Royal on the Bears but it was dependent on if the price was right. - Indicated Knox was working hard to get back.
  17. Marshall might have punched a girl in the face (depending on which report you believe) and he's been stabbed by his wife and had multiple other incidents. Now I'm not aware of Marshall's past incidents involving him as being violent. Briggs had 1 incident in his entire career. I've never heard him involved in anything else ever.
  18. I think Moore would remain the nickel db regardless.
  19. Bucs spending a lot of money. I still believe this is too much money for a guard but what do I know. Either way I don't really think the Bears were ever really serious players in the Nicks sweepstakes.
  20. Mincey resigned with Jacksonville last night to a 4 yr deal.
  21. I'm fine with bringing him in. Bears need depth and he's a solid corner. He's just very injured. Unless of course the year off of football helped him.
  22. He is a very good special teams player. I wonder what the cost was.
  23. Briggs has never had an off the field incident with exception to what probably was a DUI. Again, not something I condone but not even in the same arena as the type of crap most athletes get in trouble with.
  24. To point out, this happened yesterday, so I'm assuming a lot of stuff is still out there. I'm not surprised the Bears didn't know (if that is the case).
  25. This could be terrible, especially because the Bears, even if a deal is nixed (and it turns out to be serious and he gets suspended...not to mention it makes him a giant problem), the Bears would have missed out on all of the top wideouts.
