Any defense that can keep a team in the game against the Colts (until their QB turns it over for a fourth time on a play that should have been a TD for Chicago) while dealing with 5 turnovers is pretty damn good IMO.
-
And one snap (a fumble) out of 23 at one point. The defense played bad because they were completely worn down. That's what happens when your offense takes the field for a total of 15 seconds out of 15 minutes.
-
The problem is that he's done it all year long. I've no confidence that Grossman can lead this team to anything -- he's just along for the ride with the defense. The defense was on the field for 2/3's of the game because of Ron Turner's inept play calling and Rex's bad play. They let him play out his contract and then send him on his way to finish off his career as a backup.
-
Grossman is a bum. They should have open competition to see who is the best of the bad QB's on the Bears' roster.
-
That was what came to mind when I wrote that. Emmitt Smith, too.
-
Bingo. A lot of guys don't see the big picture and just see the big payday. Would they be happier playing for a SB-caliber team, as the Bears are and should be in future years, or making a few million more and being stuck somewhere like the Cardinals? And if they're stuck on a bad team, they may not keep up the same level of play because of others around them. Then, when it comes time for the next contract, they just look like a fading star. Does anyone else agree that sports agents, and especially Rosenhaus, are the scum of the earth?

Oh, come on! What are ya, some kinda closet Colts fan? Bears 97-7. Colts only score once the Bears offense and defense decide to switch sides.
-
I like the opening line from an ESPN Page 2 article: "There's a better than average chance (in fact, given that Rex Grossman is the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears, there's actually a much better than average chance) the Indianapolis Colts will win Super Bowl XLI." http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=neel/070129 Other than being balls-deep on Peyton, have any of the media experts actually given a reason as to why the Bears stand no chance?

Bear Fan Demands Tickets of Chris Harris
StrangeBears replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in Soldier Field
Harris needs to honor his word. I don't care if he's only offered 15 tickets -- get your ass on StubHub and spend some of that hard-earned money. -
SportsNation Poll - Worst SB Quarterback ever?
StrangeBears replied to adam's topic in Soldier Field
They should do a poll on the worst D to ever play in the playoffs. Of course, 2 good games against crap offenses and one game in which they gave up 34 points cancels out an entire season of suck-itude. But Rex playing ok (and better than Manning) in his playoff games is just a fluke. -

I just don't think the official and ESPN boards are policed very well. Soxtalk doesn't really have a bunch of trolls or anything because its pretty clear that they won't let that stuff stand. I don't have the time now (last semester before I graduate here!), but I might be interested in writing for next season.
-
I generally ignore the moron too but this just annoyed the hell out of me. After that little rant of his I shut off ESPN. I also refuse to read the Sun-Times.
-
Just saw him flapping his jaws on Cold Pizza about Tank Johnson. Ranting about how no NFL players have "500 rounds of ammo and assault-style weapons." I love it when people who are totally clueless about guns (and, in Jay's case, sports) rant about them.

Super Bowls Line Range From 7-7.5 For Indy
StrangeBears replied to chitownman's topic in Soldier Field
Odds makers are listening to what the public perceives. They really don't care. They just want even bets on each side so that they make ass loads of money. If the odds makers listen to the experts all picking the Colts and think that the betting public will follow what they say, they'll give the Bears plenty of points to lure some more people into betting on them. Their finger is on the pulse of the betters, not on the sportsmedia "experts" -
Super Bowls Line Range From 7-7.5 For Indy
StrangeBears replied to chitownman's topic in Soldier Field
Hey, don't blame Vegas for the lines. They're just trying to guess what all of the betters think will happen. -
I hope the media shits all over the Bears the next two weeks and talks about how this AFC-C game was the "Real Superbowl." You saw how fired up they were today and how they just took it to another level once Bush taunted them.

Gene Wojciechowski Still can't give the Bears credit
StrangeBears replied to StrangeBears's topic in Soldier Field
How can these people get paid thousands of dollars to basically just guess and then make excuses? The articles aren't even well-written usually. Oh well, I guess I'll just take solace in the face that the CHICAGO BEARS ARE IN THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!!! -
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/sto...&id=2738549 Talk about a back-handed compliment of an article. I can't wait to read the next article in his dramatic series about Bears game attendance!

AND THATS A BEARS NFC CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!
StrangeBears replied to NUKE_MINNESOTA's topic in Soldier Field
DA BEARS! -
We clearly need to be looking for a new QB
-
Meh, they get paid to sit around and "research" this stuff all day long. I'd say that they have more knowledge but much worse logical reasoning.
-
I remember them saying the same stuff about the White Sox in 2005. How'd that turn out? 4 CG's, 11-1? The "experts" are only slightly more knowledgable than you or I.
