  1. Any way Poles played this team this year was going to be a losing season.  No money and only two 2nd round picks.  Pick the two best OL or WR drafted with our DB's picks and we would be no better off.  Questions everywhere and will be even more after this season sadly.  Most had hoped they would know what they had in Fields this year.  Looks like it will take at least two.

  2. The only thing I have seen so far is that Justin is worse that any starting QB right now.  According to most preseason accounts the only thing that mattered this year was the improvement of Fields.  Based on that criteria this season in a failure so far no matter the record.  Lots of games to go to see improvement.  So does the coaching staff stop playing to win or just let Fields live or die by his ability or lack of getting the passing game going?

  3. As a homer fan I am again picking the Bears to win.  Last week I said 23-13 because of the D and Lances lack of game experience.  Can't say that this week with Rogers.  But he does have little to no chemistry with his WR's.  Again, the other team is better on paper.  But I think because it's just the 2nd game of the season they have a good chance to pull off an upset with just hustle and guts.  Yea and about 23 points will be enough

I dont think we kicked their ass at all - if they had the coach that we have theyd have destroyed us.

Im really happy we won - I love it, and I see good things ahead for this team, but we all saw the O line getting destroyed, and the lack of run stopping on D.

We have a long road to go, but for the first time in a LONG time, we're actually on the right road at least.

They scored three TD's in a half and made Lance look like the guy hadn't played a meaningful game in years.  Held a so called SB quality team to ten points.  Thats not just bad coaching by the Niners.  Seven point underdog.  No, they kicked their ass when it mattered.

  5. I'm not goin to be so calm.  After almost a year of every talking head telling us how much this team sucks.  They just kicked the ass of a team 95+ said was a superbowl team.  Yea first week.  Gee maybe we get better?   F yea

LOL, well this year 0 is gonna lead to year 1 of the hard hitting fearsome Bears era, during which we will regain the all time wins - loss record over the Packers.

Well the human race survived.  So there's that to go on.  And I like your ending better.

I think we will see individual players ascend, and flashes from them, but we will also have holes. By week 12 we will be screaming about one or two names - holes that the NFL has learned to exploit. But we will also know if Fields is the guy, and who around him will be part of our future. Then with that info, we go into next season with draft picks and more salary cap room than any team in the league.

    This is

Now, if by some chance, all the players ascend, and the coaching is solid, and Fields is the guy, then we might surprise a bunch of people. But even if the first scenario is the outcome, we are on track to building an actual team.

I'll be rooting for the team to win, but I'll be watching where the strong and weak parts are, and as long as the good stuff remains consistent, then we will know what we have, and what we need.

    year 0.

There was a movie a long time ago named that.  It did not end well.  Panic in the year Zero

  9. With all of the churning and rotating of this roster all off season.  They had not a lot to go with when the took over.  But it just gives me a creppy feeling for this season.  I like what they are doing but how high is the floor truely?

I am so excited for this season, even more than 2019 after coming off the 12-4 season. I didn't know what the problem was, but felt like Trubisky was never the answer (who knew it was Nagy too at that point).

This season is so different. Fields really feels like the guy and we are about to have our first franchise QB (drafted) since Sid Luckman. To think, Fields really didn't have an offseason last year as QB3 and QB play requires a ton of preparation and he got none of that last year. Now he comes in with an entire offseason with Getsy, an actual NFL scheme, and with enough quality around him to succeed. As long as the O-Line is not a jailbreak on every play, he will be fine.

There are so many new faces, I am excited to see them all. Can Brisker and Gordon live up to the hype? Can Braxton Jones really be a starting LT? Was Velus the right pick? What will Morrow look like next to Roquan? Can Jones be that guy inside?

With the returning guys, can Fields take the next step? Can Kmet become an elite TE? Is Mooney a true WR1? How will Monty look in this scheme? Can Quinn get double-digit sacks again? Can Gipson get better with more reps? Is Jaylon a Pro Bowl Corner? Can Jackson return to his pre-injury days? What does a mad Roquan play like? Can Jenkins and Borom anchor the line? How will Santos kick on Bermuda?

I don't even care about the record. I don't expect them to make the playoffs and would be happy with 7 wins. Anything else is just icing on the cake. I just want Fields to cement himself as a top 15 starter with top 10 upside, reduce his turnovers and sacks, and have a very solid Year 2.

Most of us have posted here for a long time, so we kinda know each other.  This is the administration and approach I know I have wanted since Jim Finks.  And it looks like it's being done the same way.  Up front!  I love what I see.  It's weird because I feel like I'm validating my football life through this admin, yet have nothing to do with it.

Yes the most hopium I have had since 2019 also.  But that turned out to be lost hope.  I think we have found some front office and coaches that are looking forward to building a long term team.  Not just a one year shot.  I had a ton of hope after 2018 and Nagy seemed to say all the right things.  I thought we had found our long term coach.  It was a good start but he had no idea how to build an offense or team going forward.  And pace only thought of his job.  I think this bunch knows they have at least three years and are laying a strong foundation brick by brick.  Progress vs wins this year at all position groups.  But winning would also be great!!

Yes.  This has been the longest week for a week one I can remember.  I feel optimistic for this season.  I want more that Fields showing good progress   I want to see at least a half dozen other players who are lower draft picks or one year signs.  I this the FO did good this year and I would like to see them do similar next year.  Don't just spend money because you have it.

I meant half a dozen winning starting jobs going forward.

  13. Start of training I had little hope for this roster.  I'm not sure if my excitement for the start of the season is just fueled by all the changes but I have more hope now then before.

  14. I think Jenkins still believes he a tackle.  But he knows he's not getting that with the Bears at this time.  I don't want to trade him, now..  Let him play guard for a year and then see where he's at.  I don't think he will be less of an asset next year.  Suck it up, kick ass and you could be the jewel in a trade etc.  Or be an anchor on a bears line for years?
