  1. Another sleeper safety. Daren Stone. Ive actually heard he is moving up quite a bit on people's boards, and could sneak into the first day. 40" vert, 11'5" broad jump, runs in the 4.5's, and really lays the lumber..... Made some nice plays on the ball in that vid. Really nice run support, and shed blockers with ease when up on the line.
  2. So the guy who is supposed to be picking for the 9ers hasnt visited in over a month, and has 1 post. Just pick for him mods, and move on.
  3. Maybe the same deal + Rocky Mac coming our way. I for one, certainly wouldnt turn that down.
  4. He said he thinks someone will want to trade up for those guys, not us pick them.
  5. Second day safety sleeper Melvin Bullitt. I saw his pro day times, and was wondering about him, so I asked my friend at a draft site who scouted a lot of A&M games, and he said the kid lives up to his name, he flies around the field like a bullet. He said he's definitely raw, but his reckless play would look good on St while he is being groomed for a few years. Sounds like an ideal fit for where we are now with our S position.
  6. I love this idea. I just got home from the gym, and I checked out another site and this is up. Very good news. Maybe a second day pick from Wash would get things done now? I know everyone has a hardon for Okoye, but I'm a little less impressed by him than most. I would love to trade down from the #6 and look at Pat Wilis, or Griffin, or Nelson, or any number of mid first rounders. Either way, I know JA has us locked in. About Meriweather. I love the kid on the field. He is a badass mark who's motor always seems to be in a higher gear than everyone around him. However, off the field he is also a badass, and a has gotten into serious trouble on more than one occasion. While I would love to have him on our team on Sunday, I'm not so sure Lovie and Co. would like to deal with/worry about another Tank situation the other six days of the week. Now Griffin is also a stud, and has none of the baggage that Meriweather brings to the table. I think Lovie would like to add this Texas product to our secondary, and so would I.
  7. Go find me ALL these articles that cite JA. Please. I see one case of JA making a genralized statement about what the team can do with DMan(never said he'll be shifted to CB, he said he can play CB, he said he can also play safety, so by that I can say JA confirms DMan will be playing FS), and a bunch of articles, and you, saying our team has said they plan on moving Brown back to FS if he is healthy. That doesn't add up to anything more than specualtion. I'm not going to fight over something you can't prove, and I can't disprove, because this is just getting into a big pissing match, which I can live without. Mea culpa.
  8. And yet again your reading comprehension amazes. Did you even bother to read what I quoted in your statement and commented on in my first sentence? I was commenting on how you said.. "And if you haven't seen anything about Manning being tried at cb, try ANY paper." which I put in quotes, and responded to by saying... "I never said that. Apparently reading comprehension isnt your strong point........." I stand by this statement. Also, the JA quote just goes on to prove what I'm saying about media blowing up quotes, and these reports mushrooming on vague and speculative statements. H esays Dman can play CB, fantastic, Ive heard that since last season, saw it from his tapes in college, read it in scouting reports, and so on. That quote doesnt even hint to the fact that he will be ousted from FS to play CB regularly.
  9. Mike Brown is a great defensive player. He IS one of the most important players to our D, and that showed last year, but he ISNT a FS. He is an in the box safety. Playing him at FS at this point of his career would be no different than what the Skins did last year, when they made the big mistake of putting Arch at FS. Playing a great player out of position doesnt help our team, it doesnt matter how great that player is.
  10. Never said that. Apparently reading comprehension isnt your strong point. I said I read it in an article, that was PURE SPECULATION. Manning very well may be utilized at a dime back, but taking him out of the position where his future should be, and where we need the tools he brings, and putting him in a less than ten down situation a game isnt something that helps our team now, or in the future. I have enough faith in Lovie and Co. that they realize that too. I read pure BS being repeated in multiple news sources every day, in every sport, and I see this as no different than that very same speculative BS. One guy hears the Bears may be trying Dman at CB this year, and it mushrooms out to all the leeches and they put it in their article, and so on and so forth. Larry "google" Mayer can speculate in his article all he wants, he is the Bears.com staff writer, and I'm sure some people think that makes him somewhat of a good source, but his track record is out there, and I'll leave it up to you to judge what he says by looking at what he has said in the past. I'll just say this now, putting Mike Brown back at FS, and sitting down DMan, doesnt help our secondary one bit, it just makes it slower and worse in pass coverage past 15 yards.
  11. This a purely speculative article, like I said, please show me where The Bears say this.
  12. I guess Espn was a little early, or wrong, in their report about us signing Tyrone. LINK and Larry "google" Mayer confirms...
  13. Please tell me what moving Dman to CB where he plays 5 downs a game in the dime does to help our team. Sorry not buying it. Bottom line, we NEED Mannings athleticism in the FS spot. Brown came in running a 4.55, and I'll give the fact that he played MUCH MUCH MUCH faster than that on the field, but since then he has lost a lot of his speed, and I highly doubt the Bears would consider downgrading in speed at the FS position. Again, how the hell does moving Brown back to FS, where we moved him out of in the first place because of injury and to play to his strength, and putting Manning on the bench help this team. I love Mike Brown, he plays the rover SS better than almost everyone Ive seen play the position, but the thought of moving him back to FS makes me sick. You say youve read about the Bears saying theyll move Brown back to FS, please show me a link. Again, I'm not buying how it helps the team in the slightest by putting Manning on our bench. Manning did a very good job for a rook, and it only hurts us to move him this early in his career. He needs work on his angles and consistency, and he'll get that with PT and reps, but I am not worried in the least about him playing FS for us next to a guy like Brown or Arch.
  14. Let me get the Falcons. I'll take LaRon Landry if it's all good. Give the Phins Alan Branch too and move on.
  15. This is very much a 5th Safety contract. Length of deals doesnt mean squat, minimum bonus, minimum vet salary=ST Safety. How does it sound like that? I havent heard that from one person inside the Bears claim Brown will play, or is even capable of playing FS anymore. We already moved him from FS to SS a few seasons ago because of injuries. I read ONE article claiming the Bears would consider moving Dman to CB, in complete speculation saying it would help our contract negotiations with Peanut and Vash, and now it's been blown up by pretty much everybody. Now a few years laters and a few more injuries(all leg injuries at that), what sense does it make to now move Brown back? I'll repeat what I said, neither Brwon nor Arch is capable of playing FS, and Manning is the future of that position for us. Brown is a great in the box SS, he has lost too much spped to even be considered playing deep, not to mention it takes him out of his element where he thrives. There is no upside to mving Dman to CB, and there is a big downside, like making the FS position, MUCH slower, MUCH older, and injury prone. I'd honestly rather see Chris Harris at FS than Mike Brown, but then again I think Harris looked good against the pass last year, and that was about the only thing he did consistently well.
  16. This doesnt do anything of the sort. Tyrone is a 30 YO backup/ST, fifth safety. Neither Brown, nor Arch can play FS, I like Harris, but Dman>>>>Harris IMO. Manning did a very good job as a rook. He needs more reps against top competition, and everything will come in time for him, because he certainly has all the tools, just not the top level experience or angles yet.
  17. I like adding depth to our secondary. HOWEVER, I still REALLY hope we don't pass on adding a young S to our squad with the golden opportunity we have with great depth at the position this year. I know were going to add a young OL, so thats not a big worry, but with adding two guys at SS already, I'm getting a little nervous about us passing on adding to our future there.
  18. From Larry "google" Mayer....
  19. Wow 7 picks in 10 or 12 days depending on how you look at it. I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and say you guys dont get through the second round by the time the actual draft occurs. You should really put a 36 hour time limit on the first.
  20. Someone just pick for the Queens. Everyone says Gaines Adams, but 3 DE 1st rounder in 4 years is kind of scary.
  21. Well scratch that... The Falcons just traded Schaub to the Texans for a swap of first rounders, and the Texans second rounder. Time to adjust the order mods.
  22. Let me get that Texans pick. The guy who has it hasnt been here in a month, so Id guess he wont be making his pick. I'd be more than happy to snatch it up. If the answer is yes. The Texans will grab Adrian Petereson. Despite signing Ahman Green to an abortion of a contract, his value is too great here to not get him. Plus they'll be shredding Greens contract in a season anyway. Landry would have been the way to go, but safety is deep enough this year to get good value in the second.
  23. Im really surprised you guys didnt have any time limits or set days/hours for picks. Ive tried leaving open times for interactive drafts before, and they never work out.
