Belichick hates Caleb and has already made public criticisms at Poles for ignoring his OL. Without Brady, he was a disaster in New England. I absolutely want no part of him. I'd rather have Pete Carrol, if we're going down that road.
-
I'd be surprised if Brown isn't still calling plays. If he gets the HC job, it'll be because of the job he does with Caleb. Unlikely that he'd willingly give up play calling and risk Caleb looking bad, which would end any semblance of him landing a HC job. Whoever the assistant HC is right now should take some of the load of Brown's shoulders during these remaining 5 weeks and allow him to spend as much time as he needs with the offense. Wins and losses don't really matter right now. All that matters is Caleb.

Thank god! Thomas Brown made the interim. Exactly who it should be.

Adam Hoge just said on his podcast that he doesn't think a decision has been made yet on Eberflus, and that it could take until Monday morning to have final confirmation. The press conference was earlier than normal, and we know the Bears love to dither on obvious decisions that most normal people could make in a fraction of the time (see the Shane Waldron firing).
-
If it's going to happen, it'll be tomorrow. I won't believe it until I see it, but you have to think someone in that organization has to care enough to make the switch now. The team is done with Eberflus. The players are speaking out, and now the national media has made them into a laughing stock (again). If it doesn't happen, it never will. This is as bad as it has ever been. Worse than Trestman, worse than Fox, worse than Nagy at the end. For once, can things just be different?

I've predicted 10 wins each of the last two years, lol. Although, in fairness to myself, the Bears lost 3 games in historic fashion last year that would have given them 10, and this year, there's been at least 2. Having Matt Eberflus as your head coach is worth at least 3 extra losses a season.
-
Ah, yeah, that makes sense. Speaking of Stroud: I still have high hopes for Stroud, but his struggles make you realize that nobody is a finished product, even after 1 great season. Same can be said for his OC, Bobby Slowik, who was a hot name in last year's cycle. Consistency is really important for coaches, too.
-
I knew he had to be close to some sort of record, but I didn't know Kyler Murray was the record holder. I thought CJ Stroud broke it last year.
-
Maintaining that 2:1 TD/INT ratio and keeping his interceptions in the single digits would be a nice achievement for a rookie season.
-
I lean towards a Lions blowout, but I honestly wouldn't be all that surprised if the Bears won this game, either. They almost always play the Lions well, even when they've been terrible. No Hutchinson; Lions are historically not very good on Thanksgiving.. We'll know pretty early on what kind of game we're getting. I just hope Caleb can continue to play well against elite competition.
-
Welp, we're 2 games in and Thomas Brown has now coordinated the two best games of Caleb's career in consecutive weeks against two great defenses.
-
If it weren't for the 6 drops, he would have had close to 400 yards passing, too, on top of everything else he did. Bears have their QB. Daniels, again, with another bad game today against a rotten team. Nix has played well, but Caleb is still the most talented and best quarterback of this class if you give him respectable coaching.
-
Suffering through the Eberflus era is like if Denver held on to Hackett for 3 years and missed out on Sean Payton. Worst coach in the history of the franchise. Worse than Fox or Trestman.
-
They didn't already have Odunze before they traded for Allen. The draft came afterwards. Had they not traded for Keenan, and then somebody else took Rome before #9, every Bears fan would have been livid at Poles for not doing enough to give Caleb talent to work with.

Biggest Surprises and Disappointments 2024 Edition
Bears4Ever_34 replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
Jets have to be the biggest disappointments in years, probably since the Eagles "dream team." I didn't see either PIT or MIN playing as well as they have, given their QB situation. Mike Tomlin, once again, showing you why he's a top 5 HC. If Eberflus was the coach of that team, their record might be flipped. DAL and JAX was somewhat predictable, though maybe not quite to this extent. JAX lost Ridley and were already trending in the wrong direction at the end of last year. DAL pulled a CHI and brought back a lame duck HC who everyone thought was getting fired, and then lost Dan Quinn. Frankly, they've been beating up on their crappy division for years. They were due for a course correction. -
Week 12 Official Game Thread - for the 3 people watching

If Caleb comes out of this game without a turnover, he should be given a medal. Most likely will be the toughest test for him this season, given what Flores likes to do. I expect a very similar gameplan to today with a lot of screens and quick passes to avoid catastrophic sacks. -
This is one move I don't fault Poles for. I hated the Bates trade. At least Allen was coming off a career year, albeit at age 32. For a 4th round pick, I felt like that was fair compensation at the time, and the Bears didn't know if they'd be able to draft Odunze yet. Obviously, it's turned out to be a terrible decision, but didn't hate the reasoning behind it. It's bizarre how the drop off could be this significant in 1 season right after the best season of his career. Has to be the heel.
-
Maybe. It helps that he's 2 years older and has Sean Payton. He's having a good year, but doesn't possess any special traits. They've been doing a lot of the Commanders stuff with the short passing game, but Denver's defense has been great all season.
-
I still think when he's been at his best, he looks more dominate than any of the other rookie QB's have looked. The deep ball accuracy is the only glaring issue I'd put squarely on him. It needs to substantially improve. That said, the coaching deficit between Eberflus and Quinn/Payton cannot be overstated. It's bottom 5 vs top 10.

This organization always invents new ways to lose games and freak over their young quarterbacks. Caleb should already have 2 come from behind wins already as a rookie and his head coach blew both of them, just like he blew the 3 games last year with Fields at QB the year previous. Defense, once again blows a late lead. QB does his job saving the defense by getting them into FG range, and then, of course, their kicker fucks it up and the HC, mismanages the play before by punting on the opportunity to gain a couple more yards before calling a timeout. Packers are the luckiest organization ever. I'm convinced they could try to lose against the Bears and still win at this point. They were outplayed for the majority of the game and still won. freak them, freak this franchise, and freak Matt Eberflus. I can't wait until we never have to see him and Poles again.

Hey, at least Jayden Daniels is starting to come back down to earth a little bit He really hasn't been very good since coming back from his injury.
-
With Billings out, this feels like a game Lafleur will try to run it down our throats with Jacobs. Wouldn't be surprised if they gained over 200 yards on the ground. All I care about the rest of this season is mitigating as much damage as possible on Caleb. That means limiting his pass attempts to keep him from getting killed and running the ball more than 50% of the time. Just get him into next season healthy so Ben Johnson or Kingsbury have something to work with after the inevitable coaching reset in January.

Detroit is such a well oiled machine right now that if they weren't in the division, they'd be an easy team to root for. I've really admired what DeMeco Ryans has done in Houston. Big fan of what they did drafting Stroud and pairing him up with Will Anderson. They were an embarrassment after the Watson scandal, and within a year, they've become SB contenders. It's amazing what can happen when you hire a good coach. The Bears should try that sometime.
