August 10, 201510 yr comment_149394 Wells was a 6th round pick in this years draft. Pats are a pretty good drafting team. Wells is freak athlete who, if coached up properly, could be a guy. Runs a 4.4. Came from a damn good Mississippi St. D. Kinda liked Groy, and the move comes with a little surprise after an Ola injury. Guess they still have Leno, Fab, and Grasu/Montgomery as backups (along with Ola when he returns). Report
August 10, 201510 yr comment_149395 I literally had no idea who Ryan Groy was until today, and I saw he started 3 games last year. lol. I wonder if Fangio is toying around with the idea of converting Wells to SS. He is a little undersized at 222 LB's to play LB'er at the moment. Report

I believe I read somewhere that Fox has moved safeties to LB but perhaps they can go the other way with him.....Haven't read too much on him yet but he certainly has some speed to burn coming from centerfield. I'd say he just plays some ST while they mold him. Gotta get him in the weight room for sure. While his 4.44 speed would have ranked him 1st at the combine, his 15 reps would have ranked last by 3 reps.....that said its much easier to get stronger vs faster imo. Should be an interesting guy to follow. Report

August 11, 201510 yr comment_149399 Wow, Wells was the 2nd pick in the 6th round (Pick 178), not bad for an undrafted player. He is comparable in size to Chancellor and has the speed to stay with WRs and TEs. Report
August 11, 201510 yr comment_149400 So...NE drafted him, but they also traded him. Watch Groy turn into a probowl RG...just saying ? Report
August 11, 201510 yr Author comment_149401 Fun fact, hes 80% blind in one eye. Could be why he was a non prospect come draft time. I watched a video from when we was drafted and the reporter said he scouted 503 players...wells wasnt one of em. Report
August 11, 201510 yr comment_149403 It appears this is nothing more than a move to help special teams. This guy isn't big enough to be a LB nor is he good enough in space to play DB in coverage. One of our primary special teams players, McMannis has looked very good at CB so he might be taking a step back from some special teams roles. Maybe not exclusively but if he's playing on defense he might not thrown out there on every coverage unit. Another key piece from last year's coverage units, Cornelius Washington, is getting pushed around at his new DE position. Although he has shown some good things in pass rush, some other Dline players are challenging him for a roster spot. As far as Groy, reportedly he's struggled in pass protection this camp. It sounds like ahead of Groy we have Leno, Ducasse, Grasu, and Ola (that's assuming the starters are Bushrod, Slaus, Montgomery, Long, Mills). Fabuluje appears destined for the practice squad. Nobody is talking about how Pace managed to trade an OG who likely wouldn't make the roster for a 6th Rd pick from the Patriots. That's pretty good value for a guy who was likely to get cut and if Wells doesn't make the team we haven't lost anything. Patriots have to be concerned about their Oline depth or they'd have waited for more camp cuts and given up nobody. Report

August 11, 201510 yr comment_149405 Regardless of the outcome, the team must be pretty happy with the current O-Line to make a move that would reduce our quality depth. Also, I like the fact that Pace is working and making connections with other GM's. In regards to a trade with NE always ending bad, I would be more concerned if we were picking up one of their overpriced vets. Report

Isn't big enough for OLB but hes just a few pounds away from playing around Bowman and Willis size for ILB. When Bread about him, it sounds like hes a pretty good JACK prospect. The JACK for those who don't know is the ILB who does it all, the jack of all trades. Report

September 5, 201510 yr comment_149941 He looked good yesterday playing with/against bums. Don't think you can read much into that, but I do know that he looks exceptionally fast to be playing LB'er. Report
