2nd Team

Featured Replies

Just throwing this out there , it was mentioned on the radio the other day that Chicago is the only mega metropolitan area not to have a second team. The Halas family name carries weight in the league I believe  as long as Virginia is alive I can’t imagine someone breaching it, but isn’t it time for a second team? Just some offseason scuttle butt to kick around.

They are not adding any new franchises out in the NFL, so what team is in the position to want to change cities? None. Best scenario is the Bears buy Arlington and put in a big enough enclosed stadium to host a SB.

Agreed. That doesn't mean one can dream.

Peace

I would not want a second team in Chicago. We had the Cardinals years ago and now they are in AZ after a while in St. Louis. If you feel like you need a second team to root for cool, there are plenty of AFC teams to pick from. Back in the day (circa 1992) I liked the Chargers as a second team to follow as when playing super techno bowl everyone was a bears fan and we had to take turns being the Bears!  So I’d take Stan Humphries, Anthony Miller, Marion Butts, and Eric Bieniemy, to name a few when I couldn’t have the Bears.
