BearFan PHX
According to my TTNL guys, Burden has signed with a fully guaranteed deal.
BearFan PHX
This is great news - I was concerned that if he didn't it would put him out of alignment with the team this year and could lead to frustrations and problems. Cant wait to see all the rookies in camp and preseason!
Stinger226
Poles isnt jacking around , with one 2nd pick that could have been a problem, he just gave him the extra 13% guaranteed money. Done Adam Scheftner with news from his agents (Win Sports Group) reported fully guaranteed this afternoon. The season is ready to go. I always thought the teams wouldnt lose much to guarantee those 2nd round deals. Still should have happened through collective bargaining, not this way, but so what, we are here and our guys are going to camp. As for the extra money - it was 120% more than years past, only the recent DT signed for 87% guaranteed, and that was new. Players seem to have won this one, 100% or 87% or whatever is a lot better than 40%.
DABEARSDABOMB
Not the Bears I want making a principled stance on player contracts in this direction - not worth it.
BearFan PHX
I agree, and good for the players. I just think this should have been dealt with in collective bargaining, not like this - but whatever, we got our guys signed, lets go. Like you said, not worth it to try to win pennies youre probably gonna pay them anyway.
DABEARSDABOMB Posted yesterday at 04:20 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 04:20 AM I hope Burden is ready to go - him missing time during rookie camp was a bummer. Hope he is 100 percent and ready to learn and put in the work!   Same with Loveland but he gets a minor pass since we knew he was hurt when we drafted him. These are two talents that will have success more in the future than this year. Loveland and Bruden will have roles in this group but think because of the reasons you listed wont be the top targets this year. 2026 will be the year we get to see all our weapons running at the same speed and boy will that be fun. Bears4Ever_34
Burden needs to stay healthy. He's already way behind other players who were able to practice during the off-season program. Both Loveland and Burden need to be factors this year for the Bears to do anything special. Sometimes I wonder if Ben Johnson thought Burden was milking his injury a little bit during mini-camp, based on the things he said at his press conference. I wouldn't be surprised if Burden started out behind Zaccheaus at the beginning of camp, just to make it clear that he needs to earn his position, and it starts by being available. Soft tissue injuries are sometimes an indicator of poor weight training habits in the gym.
