Preseason Week 2 Game Thread - Bills at Bears, Fox, SUN, 8-17, 7pm Central

Featured Replies

BJ expects better than he is getting from anyone. Is he wanting perfection? When you hear stories of other players playing well, you have no idea of the context of those statements. Does that look great compared to their competition? Like AZ said, lets see how they play week to week.

It appears to be the problem for everyone not getting set quick enough to make their blocks. Can someone change that in two weeks? Average play is the floor (Braxton), so at least BJ expects better. We have 4 shots at the golden ring.

Looks like Jaylon Johnson was spotted pregame doing some light work. That is a great sign for Week 1 availability.

Kmet also working out, so he more than likely won't play in the game.

We say the floor is Braxton, but it's not Braxton's best year, it's Braxton right now, after injury and looking weaker. Maybe as he heals he plays stronger than ever - then that would be the new floor, and a good one.

My point is our floor right now (as of last game) aint good at all. Theyve had a week, so now tonight they get another chance to define themselves and show production.

We also get to see the starting interior players for the first time, not to mention Caleb and the rest. Very excited to see what progress weve made and what the starters look like. I hope we come out looking prepared and crisp.

GREAT first drive, and while I wasnt only looking at him, Jones seemed to be very strong that set. Nice.

Something looks different?  Oh ya Ben Johnson

no kidding, and at least so far, Braxton looked really good.

Its amazing how just getting under center opens up the middle of the field.

Wow that was about of an impressive drive as you could have expected. Dumb play by Scott on the kickoff but the offense looked really crisp.

Then the defense smothers the Bills to force a 4th and 19.

kick coverage sucked again. need to get that fixed, but the offense and defense look good and fired up too. love the in-rhythm passes by Caleb.

Thuney isnt playing but the rest of the OL is in there. We are going to see a lot of passes over the middle , TEs are back to being part of the offense.

Dunno why Odunze missed the 3rd down catch - maybe it was Caleb, tape will tell, but I do like how fast the ball is coming out.

Not much more you can ask from Caleb. He got Buffalo to jump to make it a manageable 3rs down then throws a solid ball to Odunze (away from defender) who drops it.

Special Teams is still concerning, bad kickoff return by Scott and now Taylor sails the punt for a touchback. I don't know why he is not angling it to the pylons.

Caleb might have thrown it a little short, Im not sure. Not saying he did, just need to see it again myself.

Trapilo in at RT, Benedet at LT, with the 2nd string now

I wish our starters had been going against Buffalos starters. I mean fast reads are fast reads no matter whos out there, but Id have liked to see the OL against the 1st team d line for sure.

I think Ozzy is playing RT? Theo must be 79 on the left.

yes Trapilo is 75 playing RT, and Benedet is 79 at LT

OMG Kevin Warren is such a camera hog.

I think I'd give Caleb an A but not an A+  great effort, and the big important things all looked great. His accuracy was a little off, a couple of the big catches were high, and he still pats the ball before he throws. But the ball did come out fast, in rhythm, seems like his eyes were in the right place and he was making reads in tempo. GREAT sign, I give him him an A

Coverage unit is terrible. How does the returner who catches the ball at the goal line get past the 25 before he is even touched?

and Hightower is supposed to be all that. Hed better get them focused.

It's really nice to see an actual running scheme. looks like we are going to be able to run the ball for the first time in a while.

Burden is looking the part too.

Nice.

No matter who is out there, it looks crisp - that says a lot of good about Ben Johnson. Havent seen a Bears offense look in rhythm like this in a long long time.

With all the presnap penalties in practice, I dont think we have had one yet.
