February 29, 200818 yr comment_32190 Barely a half hour into free agency, and the Vikins have set up a Friday visit with Bears receiver Bernard Berrian. Berrian wants a contract that pays out $24.5 million over the first three years, and that includes $12 million guaranteed. He would provide a deep threat for the Vikings' West Coast offense. Have a guy who can stretch the field opens up the various underneath routes in the system. source: pft Report
February 29, 200818 yr comment_32193 we shoulda just franchised him. 24.5 over the first 3 years would be ridiculous. Report

February 29, 200818 yr comment_32196 Yeah, my head might just explode if he ends up in Minne. I would match ANY offer they give him, and hope he realizes he doesn't want to wear purple, play on turf, catch passes from Tavaris, and get his ass kicked by his former team twice a year. Report

Yes, I had the same knee-jerk reaction when I saw he was going to visit MIN but then Deja Vu - remember when we all panicked when Marcus Robinson left the Bears and went to Minny? Many of us, including myself, were bummed out thinking OMG how could the Bears have let this happen? I would of loved to have Berrian back but have to agree with others who have posted, he wants far more than what he is worth. He may get it from another team who is willing to over pay for him, but I like the fact that the Bears are "cap" smart and we will need the money we have pooled to fill all the holes we want to resolve this off season. February 29, 200818 yr comment_32251 Take it for what it is worth. But, Adam Schefter is saying it'll be a done deal by tonight. Report
February 29, 200818 yr comment_32252 I'd say it's probably true... And I'm sure that was the quasi-assumption he'd be gone. I think JA went through the motions to try to keep him...but knew it wasn't going to happen. Take it for what it is worth. But, Adam Schefter is saying it'll be a done deal by tonight. Report

February 29, 200818 yr comment_32256 it was stupid not to franchise Berrian. Everyone knew Berrian was going to get a big contract, so why not just franchise him? 1 year at 8 million is not that bad especially compared to 24 million over the first 3 years like Berrian is gonna get. I am starting to think that JA and the org. are going to go into a rebuilding mode, not a push for the playoffs/superbowl mode. Report

Right down the tubes goes Urlacher's chance at a ring with us Report
February 29, 200818 yr comment_32263 I agree. Right down the tubes goes Urlacher's chance at a ring with us I don't know about that, as Urlacher will likely finish his HOF career in Chicago and if JA and Lovie do some serious drafting and scouting, we could be back to being top contenders in 3-4 years, and I think Urlacher has at least 4-5 seasons left in him.
