  1. I love the argument that TO is too much of a douche and destroys chemisty, etc... Do you guys not realize we have one of the biggest douches in the NFL with Urlacher? He's broken up the Bears locker room far too many times. If he doesn't like a player, he'll try and turn the whole team against said player. I've heard numerous stories about him being a huge douche, and his latest antics are even more annoying as now he's picking fights with former Bear greats. Personally, I don't care. These are grown men and not everyone is going to like each other. Chemistry is overrated in the locker room for football, and the only thing most players care about is winning. And TO cares about winning as much as anyone else does, perhaps even more so than a lot of players. If you win, there won't be any worries about team chemistry.
  2. About me though, not the Bears. Some here wanted me to keep them updated, and as a collective group of bear fans who supported me throughout this process, I wanted to share the good news with everyone. As a lot of you probably already know, I was an aspiring D-I football player but wasnt recruited out of high school. I then went onto a Junior College and had a successful freshman season. Well, my hard work paid off and on wednesday I signed with Northern Illinois to play football. I just wanted to share the good news with you guys cause you've supported me throughout this whole process and did nothing but wish me the best of luck. Unfortunately, while my activity on this board has decreased in past months, it isn't gonna get any better. Being a D-I athlete now and a full time student is gonna require most of time and I wont be able to follow the Bears or the NFL as closely as I would like, but Im definitely gonna try and pop in on game days next year and throw in my 2 cents. Thank you all for your support and Go Bears and Go Huskies!!!
  3. Maybe if we didnt waste a 2nd round draft pick, but otherwise, anything more than a 6th or 7th rounder would be too much.
  4. I could be QB coach for the Ravens and it really wouldn't mean shit. Cam Cameron is one of the best OC's in the NFL, and arguably the best guy there is for developing QB's.
  5. Chud was the one candidate I was hoping for because he seems like someone who could be a fixture as the OC with or without a new HC after next year. Chud and Al Saunders are the two best candidates, IMO, and not surprisingly, we're not gonna get/go after either.
  6. Agreed. Like what just happened in Haiti is extremely tragic and my heart goes out to those people. Some of us might pray, other might donate money. But that doesn't mean we are gonna stop thinking about the other things we care about, like Chicago Bears football.
  7. People die everyday, every minute. It is truly sad that he died, but this is still a business and life keeps going on. I feel sorry for his family and I hope everything will be okay.
  8. Considering the rampant use of HGH, steroids, and other performance enhancing drugs in the NFL... could a heart problem like that develop from prior or even current PED use?
  9. And how many Bear fans want the McCaskeys gone? No matter where you go, there is going to be a certain amount of fans who want new ownership.
  10. I want an owner like Author Blank of the Falcons. Someone who is willing to spend money and obviously cares deeply about his team (always goes down to the sidelines at the end of the game to congratulate or console his players), but lets the football people he hires run the team. Thats what we need here in Chicago. However, I'd rather have an owner who at least tries to win in Jerry Jones or Dan Snyder, rather than an owner who only cares about cashing in like McCasky.
  11. Im pretty sure you can interview coaches whether they are in the playoffs or not.
  12. I wouldnt be surprised to see Marinelli take the job after all if we dont find a candidate by next year.
  13. It seems to work for the Cards, and a lot of teams (NFL and collegiate) are going more and more with the dual coordinators. Its really not that bad of an idea. If they can work together, you can put together some very good schemes and game plans.
  14. One interesting take was to have Zampese as Passing Game Coordinator and Tice as OLine and Run Game Coordinator. I think thats actually not a bad idea.
  15. It could be that. I just figured he'd want complete control. EDIT: You are right, he wants to be reteamed with Kevin Colbert, the GM of the Steelers since 2000.
  16. Puh-lease. This organization has been a joke of a "powerhouse" since 1990. Sure, we've put together a few good season here or there, but this is an organization and team that is one of the most historic in the NFL and needs to pride itself on winning. We aren't the Houston Texans or whatever in which a few successful years in a decade isn't good. We need to dominate the division every year and also be a team considered to be a Super Bowl threat. How many times have we won the division in the past 20 years? 4 times! That's AWFUL! Thats an average of twice a decade. Who are we, the Detroit Lions!? How many times have we went to the playoffs? 6 times!? Wow, that means we won a wildcard spot twice in the past 20 years. How many times have we made it to the NFC Championship Game? ONCE!!!! Only one freaking time have we made it out of the Divisional Playoffs in the past 20 years! How many times have we made it to the Super Bowl in the past 20 years? ONCE, again!!!!! And that turned out to be the same year we made it to the NFC Championship Game. Wow, one super bowl birth in 20 years? We won that superbowl though, right? Nope, not a single super bowl trophy in the past 20 years! We have at least had some successful runs as a great team, right? Actually, no. Our best streak was making it to the wildcard one year and then losing the super bowl the following year. Only two times have we made it to the playoffs in back to back seasons in the past 20 years. Thats AWESOME!!!!!! Overall record for the past 20 years - 154 and 166... thats good if we are the Houston Texans. Playoff record, 4-6. Not only is it sad that we cant even win when we make the playoffs, but we've only had 10 playoff games in the past 20 years. Saying the Bears org. has been that bad is like spitting on George Halas' grave. Here in Chicago, people want and expect the best. We are ruining the history of this great team. It has to turn around some point, and its better to do it late then never.
  17. If Smith goes, hopefully we would go after Cowher. He'd be the most logical person to go after at this point. And if we get Cowher, JA has to go as Cowher requires full control over his team. Then, hopefully we would hire someone smart when it comes to football as a VP of player personnel. Phil Savage comes to mind, but whoever it is has to be able to work hand and hand with Cowher.
  18. Yeah, he has done nothing wrong, except get completely ass raped when working a new contract for Lovie, and knowing nothing about football. He is a little pawn for McCasky family and has no business making any football personal related decisions. Either Phillips gets put back into accounting or something where he belongs, and we hire a team president who knows something about football, or we let Phillips keep his job and hire someone who is qualified to be the Executive VP of football operations (a la Bill Parcels in Miami or Scott Pioli when he was in New England).
  19. The only problem with such a scenario would be that Lovie is the only one heading out, while JA and Phillips remain in high ranking positions. I know Im greedy, but I want em all gone.
  20. Tice has never been an OC, and even when he was the HC of Minnesota, his offenses were never really that good.
  21. I know it will make a lot of people vomit, me included, but next logical person we could be after for DC is Joe Barry. He is another big Tampa 2 guy, is Rod Marinelli's son in law, and when Marinelli was in Detroit, Barry was his DC. He seems like he'd be the perfect fit for Lovie. He'd be cheap, and probably go right along with Lovie and be the perfect yes man.
  22. Fewell seemed to be leaning towards Chicago before the interview he had. Ever think Fewell just didnt like what Lovie and co were selling, and bought into Coughlin more?
  23. Lol, is anyone surprised by this? Why would anyone choose Chicago over New York at this point? A couple points: 1.) This is Lovie's D. Lovie will still have final say and control over the defense. Fewell would call the plays, but he'd have to be Lovie's puppet. Also, from some of the stuff I have read, Lovie and Fewell weren't the best of friends. 2.) In New York, Fewell will have complete control over the defense, he's the head honcho considering the defense (Coughlin is an offensive guy). 3.) New York offers more talent on D, more chance to succeed, and an oppurtunity to become a hot HC candidate next year if New York's D does good. 4.) Fewell knows Lovie is on the hot seat, and whole new coaching staff could be coming in next year. Also, if the Bears guaranteed him the HC is Lovie is canned, that's just plain stupid. We'd be limiting our options. If Fewell did turn out to be the best option, fine, but with Cowher, Grim, Heimerdinger, Jim Harbaugh, etc., out there, itd be stupid to limit ourselves to one option. And if we reneged on Fewell's deal, that just hurts our credibility when we are looking for other coaches. 5.) Money was definitely not the main issue. Fewell wants to eventually be a HC. In New York, he has the option of being the top dawg with the defense and controls his own future. He has much more talent there, and if succeeds there, he'll become a top coaching candidate in the NFL.
  24. One thing is for sure, if we use any of next years draft picks to move up in this years draft, I will flip a nut.
  25. There wont be much changes. We wont spend money on FA's (there really wont be many good ones anyway), Lovie and JA are too stuborn to get trade away guys like Hester or Harris, and we have no draft picks. Expect, for the most part, the same roster.
