April 27, 200916 yr comment_63916 According to Mike Lombardi, during the 2nd round, the Bears and Cards were in trade talks regarding Boldin, but the Cards backed out. This really shows how committed JA and Lovie are to winning now, and makes me think that they were both given notice that this year is their last shot and if they fail to make the playoffs, their asses would be gone. I wonder if Q and the Cards are still butting heads near the time training camps begin, could we see us send some future draft picks their way for Q? Most likely not gonna happen, but one can only hope. Report

Just like the opportunity for Cutler, if we could've got Boldin for our 2nd they could've got a another star contributor for draft picks and of course $$ in the contract. I like the way JA operates, he'll keep the team cap sound and when oppotunities pop up, he'll look into them and make efforts. We might not here about most of them, but the guy does his home work. April 27, 200916 yr comment_63919 It'd probably be Iglesias, Kellen Davis, and our 3rd next year if it happened in the near future. Report

April 27, 200916 yr comment_63944 According to the Sun Times, we only offered our 2nd rounder and nothing else because a contract extension was a big issue to Angelo which brought his value down. I agree to an extent as offering a huge deal to a guy with injury issues is never a good idea, but this team was desperate for WR help. I certainly hope the lines stay open. Report
April 27, 200916 yr comment_63970 If we could get him for our future 2nd would you? The Bears would obviously have another draft without any picks in the early rounds but if you could combine it with what the club already has received in this draft it might not be too bad. I have no problem with the Bears being unwilling to give up much more though, since you do need to have early round draft picks to fill needs that might turn out to be pretty glaring during this next season. April 27, 200916 yr comment_64032 I was never that much in favor of adding Boldin as I felt the price was too high. I certainly don't want to give up our 2nd Rd pick next year. I'd rather just grab a FA WR to round out the competition. Report
