September 5, 201015 yr comment_82192 I have to agree in large part to what you wrote. The one exception being: "Jerry Angelo's tendency to relegate picking lineman very late in the draft is disheartening". My discourse is summed up in one name: Chris Williams. Round 1 #14 overall in the 2008 draft. That is the true definition of disheartening. Someone you pick that early and that much money and for what? I totally agree with your wanting for a player to play with a controlled "reckless abandon". And from what I've seen around the league you can find that player just about at any level of the draft. Kreutz was drafted in the third round back in 1998. He is unquestionably a leader on the team and, not so much anymore, but used to effectively play with that controlled "reckless abandon" you spoke of. I wish the Bears had a plethora of Kreutz' of varying heights and weights to put on the line..just younger. Report
September 6, 201015 yr comment_82208 You have to give credit to Tice for grooming a guy like Louis so quickly. If Norv and his buddy were still here I doubt Louis would have been a starter for us. In just one offseason Tice has shown the vision to see what a guy can become and the ability to coach him well enough that (in Louis' case) he improved every week. What I saw him do against Darnell Dockett made a believer out of me. With his athleticism and power once he gains experience as a pulling guard he's going to deliver some devastating blocks. We will know what we have in week 1 because Detroit reportedly is keeping Suh over the RG so he can develop consistency. Report
