Vinston Painter

I seen an article that we brought him in town at the last minute. He is Vinston Painter a OT out of VT. We like him at OG. He is very athletic, and with the new scheme on the OL the athletic guard fits it better. James Brown, Garza, not so much Slauson and Carmi. He is said to be around a 4th rounder and not many teams worked him out. He needs to learn more, good upside, and not well known.

Draft Insider has him rated 10th at OG.

That doesn't mean he's the worst, it just means there are 9 guards rated ahead of him. I assume Chance Womack is #1 and Cooper #2. PFW says he's a freakish athlete with first round talent. He started college as a DE and the knock on him is that he was only a starter for one year. He could be a guy we view as a project.

The Suntimes reported we brought in Justin Pugh OLG-OLT from Syracuse. PFT has him ranked as a 2nd to 3rd round pick and the 10th best O-lineman regardless of position. Reading the tea leaves, it seems as if we want to draft an offensive lineman, but not in the first round.

This is WAY early, but playing the numbers game, we will keep 8 offensive linemen on the roster. Bushrod, Slausmon, Garza, Carimi, Webb, Brown, Britton, and Scott immediately the most likely to make the team.

It seems clear there is going to be competition at either OG or OC (or both). Can't rule out OT either.
