July 27, 201312 yr Author comment_123430 I believe I saw that he ended practice 10 plays early as a reward for the players doing so well. Yeah I saw same thing. I like what I'm hearing about Marshall high pointing balls and diving for balls. Tells me he's over his hip injury and like what I'm hearing about martellus building that relationship with jay. Of course everything gets better tomorrow once pads go on Report
July 27, 201312 yr comment_123432 Lance Briggs said the offense runs a play every 16 seconds. To do that it means our coaches on both sides have to get the plays in very quickly. This alone will be a big difference from Martz and Tice who seemed to never know which play they wanted next, often pushing the play clock down to zero before we could snap the ball. I don't think we're going the way of Chip Kelly's offense where the goal is to run a play every 12 seconds no matter what. Trestman keeps the pressure up on the defense and offense to be ready for that. I expect Cutler to have more time, if he wants it, after breaking the huddle and getting everyone in position to read the defense. More time to back out of a play and call an audible too. Report

Gives our players less time to think about things and possibly screw up. It needs to be more instinctual Report

July 28, 201312 yr comment_123442 Zach Zaidman @ZachZaidman 10m Reporter: Was it a rough start for the offensive line? Trestman: "Yeah, absolutely. I thought the defense had the jump start on us today." I don't like the sound of that, but it is early. Report
July 28, 201312 yr comment_123443 I don't like the sound of that, but it is early. They lined up McCellen,Wooten,Melton and Peppers all at the same time on passing downs. I like the thought of somebody trying new stuff. Report
July 29, 201312 yr comment_123448 Good on Bushrod. Not worried about Peppy. Gladto hear Long is doing well. Great to see McClennin doing well. Sad that Webb is struggling... Not surprised though. SMC learning to beat an OL is great news as we will need that. But on the other hand if Webb can'tstop SMC and he's got no competition I can't say I'm happy about the way things could go. I will say its extremely early do of course I'm hoping things get a lot better Report

I will say its extremely early do of course I'm hoping things get a lot better The thing that the Saints and Kromer have done over the years is give their OTs help from the OGs. Webbs weakness has always and will probably forever be in space against speed rushers. In real games I don't think he'll be going 1 on 1 vs a bad matchup, he'll be getting help from Hot Tub(love that nickname) or Long. Thus creating less space in a 2 on 1 scenario which they should win 9 times out of 10..... I'm more worried about the chemistry Webb and Long or Brown create. Report

I still want our T to be able to win 1 on 1 as they won't always have help from the Gs. Everyone was trying to say how bushrod was only good because of the Gs he played nxt to but at least he's holding his own against a nightmare in peppers while Webb can't even do the same against SMC. This may have been a bad day but we need to see improvement if this offense is ever going to take off and become a real offense Report

And it'll keep Cutler's head in the game more too. I recall his getting very frustrated over the years with having to wait for plays. Then again, it may look good in practice but we'll have to see it on the field to know for sure. Regardless, this is a positive development. Report
July 29, 201312 yr comment_123468 Turk McBride out for the season. Pretty sure he's played some DT in the past, could have potentially got some PT there with Ellis retiring. Has anyone heard how the UDFA DTs are doing? Report

Has anyone heard how the UDFA DTs are doing? Not a big blow losing McBride. Hurts the overall depth but I didn't see him getting much PT. Over at DT I've heard no one has been able to stop Paea. That could be good if he can continue to grow. Big yr for him I think Report

Playing next to a guy that strong you're not gonna see a lot of double teams since he will be eatting up 2 guys. Report

Which I'm hoping he's continued to get better. We saw flashes last yr and if that continues with Melton getting better those 2 could be a nightmare tandem inside Report
