I read an article where the pre combine mock drafts which included Kiper and McShays drafts, are right .025 %.

So much for experts.

Makes sense because everyone re-writes their mocks after the workout results, including the NFL teams. We often see massive changes in players stock both up and down. There's a former Notre Dame LB playing in San Diego who can attest to that. You go with what you know until you know what you didn't know.

Not to mention free agency hasn't even begun at this point so what may be needs now might not be needs come draft time. It's damn near impossible to predict at this point, but it's still fun to talk about.

I like all the DL picks, the secondary picks, not so much. Kiper said the depth of the DL in the draft is pretty weak while the depth in the secondary is plentiful so he and I both think we can't afford to wait on drafting for the DL.

Hell, even final mock drafts for 1st round picks alone are less than 10% accurate. One pick derails the entire thing. Most just go off basic need and best available at that position, which is all you can really do.

I think instead of having the exact picks teams has, it is more about identifying the top 32 players and some are pretty accurate with that.

Yep. And the trades REALLY throw everything off. Currently Houston is hoping someone will trade up for Clowney so they can trade down and take a QB.

Cam Newton was a projected 2nd or 3rd rounder before the combine. Neither Shea McClellin or Kyle Long were on anybody's 1st round radar at any point.

On that I agree except I enjoy researching beyond even the top 100 prospects. There are always players in the top 32 or top 100 I like and dislike. Then on draft day there is always the Bears with their "who" draft pick. Ultimately it's the process of sorting out the talent pool that I enjoy along with seeing how they end up performing once they are in the league. The mock drafts just give me an idea where people think players talent fits into the mix along with some insight into team's needs and draft tendencies (i.e. Raiders' Al Davis liked tall fast WRs even if they can't run routes or catch that well).

I enjoy the draft and all that it brings in the off season and I have less to do. I too like to find who I think are good prospects and who the Bears need.

Start by one player I have taken to is Bucannon/S/Wash St I have looked at everything I could find out about him. He seems to have football instincts, physical, and was a productive player in college. He goes anywhere

from upper second to lower 3rd. If we could grab him in the third, I would be elated. Presuming we dont go with HaHa or Pryor as a first round pick.

I totally agree on Buchanan. I've heard some think he has the "potential" to be a star
