Mock Drafts
That's a home run draft.

Up until this week, I didn't think CB was in play but if you can get a guy who plays NB, CB and S . I'm in. Treydan Stukes can do that with 4.33 speed. Doubt if he makes it to the first round but would be a great pick later.

Who is your guy?
Id say Edge Reuben Bain or S Caleb Downs And realistically, Edge Gabe Jacas or S Dillon Thienemen I dont mean to copy you guys, but you did get it right. Could be a surprise CB or LT too.
-
Who is your guy?
Sign me up for a Bain Banger and Dillion Doer. Third would be Avil Reese.
-
Who is your guy?
I officially hate you. Those are my guys!

Mock Drafts
One month out draft with trades. This is also a RAS draft as all these guys ranked in the top except the DT.
-
Who is your guy?
Rueben Bain DE would be my "dream" pick. Dillion Thienemen S would be my realistic pick. I dont think they go DT first and then the DEs should be strong to go rd2
-
Who is your guy?
If you could draft ANY player from this draft, who would it be? (Regardless of pick selection). I'll reveal mine later.

He was one of my early on favorites before I learned DA likes to run two 3Ts or wide fronts. That led me to looking at past Saints rosters and noticed the smaller profile DTs. I mentioned it here a couple weeks ago and this week I hear it on the radio and podcasts. It makes me think Bear content creators creep in this forum for our Intel. I dont think we take DT round 1 with FA signings, it will be edge, safety, corner or trade down.

Interesting that the Bears had a top 30 visit with DT Kayden McDonald from Ohio State. That doesn’t really fit the traditional Dennis Allen DT mold since he’s more of a big run stuffer than the smaller quicker guys he has seemed to prefer in the past but given the Bears issues stopping the run last year I wouldn’t be opposed. Plus he’s supposed to be pretty quick for his size.

I believe he'll be there in the second and would be shocked if he's a first. Jacas is a mid 2nd or 3rd pick from my movie eye. Kenneth Grant was a guy a bunch here were high on last year. I didn't think he was a first rounder and the hype machine got him drafted at 13. And the dude graded out as the second worst pick in the draft. Just say, a blind squirrel found that nut. Jacas is that nut, this year. Admittedly, the blind squirrel is right more often than I.

I agree with all of this. Of course i hope every player we have has a sudden rebirth and becomes amazing, but I cant believe it until it happens of course. This is the year to see if Poles and our staff can find Defensive Linemen. I feel better about it with Ben Johnson and Dennis Allen, but let's see who we pick. All in all though, while I dont see a top 10 defense here, I do see a major upgrade from where we were, so that's good. I love Bryant and Bush for sure.

Yeah, it's a tough balancing act especially when they get hurt because now you are stuck with them for probably one year too many.

I agree. I hope he works out because Poles track record on the DLine has been sus. Dexter doesn't look like he will be getting a 2nd contract. Pickens was a bust. Odeyingbo is trending that way as an FA. Jarrett is probably over the hill. Sweat was solid, but was always a high-end DE2, and not really a consistent DE1. Billings was great then terrible.

Agreed. Im not putting a ceiling on him, Im just saying I need to see it on the field first. I cant pencil him in as an upgrade until I see it? But i don't expect him to become someone that offenses fear, not right away anyway?

It's crazy what free agents can do to help in hinder the growth of a team. Dayo and Jarrett were terrible signings that were supposed to help in year one, but will negatively affect for the second year in a row.

Turner had some first-round grades, and some mocks had him going that high. A 2nd round pick has to become a key contributor/starter.

I read the predraft stuff on him, and he wasnt anyones first round pick - that's all I mean. He definitely is athletic, and anyone can outperform their scouting, but I just need to see it on the field. For example, what I thought of Swift before this season, based on everything I'd ever seen from him before said we would be replacing him this year. But he outplayed his former level, and definitely showed me things id never seen from him before. Surely a rookie who was injured and got no snaps could have an upside. Im not limiting him. Im just saying i wont believe it until i see it. Until then, he's what i said (in my mind) but of course i hope he balls out. Same with Dexter etc. any player that wants to suddenly become a stud is ok with me!

I dont think Jacas will be there at 57 - I think some teams know what hes got.

I agree with almost everything you said but Turner has more upside than you suggested. He is a perfect fit for DAs scheme. Speed , length and a quickness. Also JJ is a dedicated hard worker and will get back to top 10 form at CB. Spot on with everything else.

I like both but if drafted in the second round. Zion is ranked middle round, Gabe about 10 spots lower. ( Draft buzz)They are similar but Zion is a better run defender but watching 3 games tape of both, l lean towards Gabe. That's a small sample size, I agree but Gabe being a former wrestling champion, he seems more physical to me. Production is similar, I'll let the scouts decide who have watched every snap they took in college. If they take one in the first, it could be TJ Parker that has more speed and big play abilities. He had 6 FFs in 2024. Personally I am now thinking they may go S in the first because DEs is a deeper class and have a better chance of getting a Zion or Gabe in the second. Ideal for me would be Theinaman/25 - Jacas/ 57 and Gracian Halton at 60. All the brass went to Oklahoma pro day, not sure who else they would have been interested in if not for Halton.

its funny AZ54, we almost always agree, but on this one, we don't. i think Zion isnt' going to be a productive pass rusher in the NFL. I prefer Gabe Jacas by a lot to be the same kind of player but more successful in the NFL. Time will tell, so it'll be interesting to watch this one unfold, whoever they play for.

I spent some time yesterday digging into Zion Young. He plays with power, quickness, and hustle. He reminds me of Jared Verse with his power. Not being an expert I’d say I don’t see a complete set of pass rush moves but that also means there is room for upside. He plays the run very well too with the strength to hold his ground, even against some TE/RB + OT double teams, and gets off those blocks. He’s generally listed as a 2nd Rd player but rumors are that he’s rising up draft boards. He is not the most twitched up bendy guy but he has enough to get around the outside edge of an OT. He also shows enough strength to hold up inside and will be very effective on stunts or just lining up inside as an interior pass rusher. I’ve been pushing for a DT at 25 but the more I think about it I wouldn’t be surprised if he is our pick at 25. The combination of Young and Booker coming off the edge would be a problem for QBs because they both close very quickly once they get a path. Also, when considering why we drafted Shemar Turner last year one of the reasons was the violence and aggressiveness he played with. Zion has a similar style, albeit with less after-the-whistle action, and is a better athlete. He is also the type of versatile player they said they wanted (or thought they got) in Dayo but we never saw it. So that has to be on the wish list for Dennis Allen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClNJAGGC8LA p.s. I'm well aware Mel Kiper mocked him to Chicago a little while ago but that didn't, and does not, influence my opinion. Too many of the pundits are just throwing darts killing time now before the draft to generate discussion and clicks.

Byard had some great INTs. I think in some cases, DA put him in positions to get them, so if some of them were scheme related, we will keep that. But Bryant is a LOT faster than Byard, and hes a very good football player. I think it's a clear upgrade. My 2 cents.
