Welp, there is the INT, on a throw-away. Bears checking everything off the Bingo Card today. Holy crap.
-
These penalties are ridiculous. Every time the Bears have a positive play, there is a penalty on the Bears. Yet the Lions are not called for the same exact thing.
-
Bears defense stands tall with Lions starting in Bears territory after turnover on downs. Missed FG for DET. Bears have chance to tie.
-
2nd and 1, hands to the face on Thuney, no call. Then terrible spot on Williams sneak on 4th down.
-
Offense looks much better, then Swift fumbles. Defense got gashed in two drives, then force 3 and out.
-
It was a penalty, so they could've declined it last week.
-
We can not even get the kickoff right.

My mind tells me that we will play better and still lose, but I watch my team (Bears) with my heart and hope. One day we are going to be a very good team, why not want it to be today. 27-24 Bears. -

I honestly think some of this is him trying to place it where it can only be caught by the WR or no one, thus the historically low INT rate. However, being that risk averse leads to more incompletions. He needs to dial it down a notch, risk some INTs for more completions. Especially on 3rd Downs where it would be a punt anyway.

I dont get deep into stats but they do paint a picture. I did see one that bothers me about Caleb. He led the league last year in overthrows to WRs. His accuracy is in question. I think BJ will fix it but its not in game 1.
-
CJ Stroud also had a bad game.

Yeah Daniels looked like crap. Had like 125 yards or so through 3.5 quarters, and ended up with a garbage time TD. It honestly felt like a Caleb Williams game from last year, watching him. His deep ball accuracy is not as good as people think, either. GB shut down those slants and screens he benefited from last year and didn't let him escape the pocket. He didn't have an answer for it. Saw this circulating on X during the game. If this were Caleb, he'd be getting excoriated for "missing" open receivers. Curious to see if this is more of a blip than a trend, but this is two consecutive weeks of mediocre-to-poor play. This is what happens when: A.) Teams have had all off-season to study film on you B.) You no longer have the easiest schedule in the NFL C.) You actually play against teams with great defenses

Yep this is all Ben Johnson and I love it.
-
I’m old enough to remember Jimmy Johnson doing this kind of stuff with his roster in Dallas. This is nothing like last year and the message was sent to the entire team.

The Bears signed Jake Moody/K to the practice squad. I think this move was to put pressure on Santos and replace if necessary.

That's what I saw, thanks...

Yep, NFL Next Gen Stats has them. GB's pressure rate against Daniels was 39.6%, lower than WAS's on Love 47.1%. However, Love's TTT was 3.14 to Daniels 2.84. Caleb's TTT last year was 2.92. Caleb had a pressure rate of 38.3% last year as well. So Daniels basically faced what Williams did on average in 2024 against GB.
-
Off topic, but... Can you find a stat on time to QB rate? Or pressure rate. I'm not gonna lie, the GB defense looks terrifying...
-
Week 2 - Daniels - 26.9 QBR - 200 yds, 2 TD, 4 sacks, and 17 rushing yards. 217 Total Yards. Lost. / Season QBR: 40.9

Double standard to the nth degree from the national media. Every major talk show and media outlet had only negative things to say about Williams on Tuesday, yet watch the narrative today, it will be about GB's defense. There won't be hosts discussing benching Daniels, concerns about his accuracy, missed reads, not throwing to open receivers, etc. If you didn't watch the game, Daniels looked 10x worse than Williams, and outside of a few series last year, I don't know if I ever saw Williams that bad. Only after GB was up 3 scores late in the 4Q when they pulled starters, and stopped blitzing, did Daniels do anything. One other thing to watch on Daniels is his sack count, he took 4 last night, could've easily been 7, but he got back to the LOS so they didn't call it a sack. Over his last 6 games dating back to last season, he is getting sacked at rate higher than any 6-game stretch for Williams did last year. My fear with Daniels was always injury. I thought he would be a better version of Fields because he was a better passer and comparable runner, but his frame always concerned me.

You won't see it because he was OROY, a runner up for MVP, and won a playoff game. Until the Bears can show they can win, Caleb won't get any recognition and I am fine with it. I just want to win and not feel disappointed or hear about it from my packer/viking/lion friends.

88 passing yards, 4 sacks, 3 pts thru 3 quarters. Watch how many garbage time stats he accumulates.
