  2. Its just BJ getting another log the for fire. If the young wood isnt dry enough to burn, he brings in some aged wood to burn. Common denominator (speed)
  3. Turner was announced by the bears after the draft as being versatile defensive lineman for playing across the line. Id rather see him as a 3T for his size, but they played him outside when shorthanded and thats were they need him now...since they didnt add any. .
  4. Pix, youre right there were injuries too. But another way that can be interpreted is that Johnson was OK taking rookies that wouldnt be ready to start too, so theyd have time to adjust. I do know he has said that players start once he trusts them, so i do think that there is some period of time where some rookies need to get up to speed? Maybe this is true on Offense and not Defense as well, because i expect Thienemen to start opening day. We will also see whether Logan Jones takes the job away right off the bat, or if it takes half the season? He will have Thuney next to him to help with the calls if necessary. I can remember some teams starting rookie Centers who let an OG make the protection calls at first. Didnt we do that one year? That would get Jones out there more quickly I think? Also Jones is an older player and has already played in 51 games in college. But in any case, I dont see Roush having a full role opening day, or Zavion Walker at WR either, for example? And yes, I hope we stay healthy too!

  6. Turner was drafted as a DT tho. In the 5 years Poles has been GM, we have drafted only TWO DEs; Booker and Dominique Robinson - both in the FIFTH round. In that same time he has drafted two punters, one in the fourth round. Crazy!
  7. I think they believe they added to the DE with drafting Booker, signing Dayo, and then drafting Turner. Booker has shown flashes, Turner hasnt had much opportunity, and according to Dennis Allen, Dayo was starting to come along when he got hurt. But first round prospect, no. They should've taken Verse instead of Odunze bc they wont be in position to get a top 10 prospect for a while.
  8. Not so sure about your assumption. If I remember correctly, Loveland was recovering from shoulder surgery and could not fully participate in preseason camps, making it difficult to learn what is described as a difficult system to master. Burden also lagged behind in learning the system because of a preseason injury. Time lost in preseason camps is difficult to make up for during the season. I'm guessing both would have been far more active starting game one if not for their lack of preseason prep. I pray our team can stay healthy this year.

  10. i think Ben Johnson generally doesnt start rookies at first, and then phases them in over the season, like he did last year for Monangai, Loveland and Burden?
  11. well I cant even imagine how they can escape addressing the DE position next year, and they will have the cap flexibility to do it, so you HAVE to be right! But at the same time, Its crazy we havent acquired one (or several) in the draft in such a LONG time. I think the window for Caleb is NOW and strategically putting off a pass rush until next year is a poor decision. I have hope there is still a free agent signing coming, but I dunno. It's crazy to put DE last, but they HAVE been building an excellent roster everywhere else, and I m sure youre right, in time we will have a pass rush, but if we had one this year, we'd be Superbowl bound. Maybe we still are, but we'd be heavily in the mix this year if we had one.
  12. Ive see at least 2-3 DEs that would Allen's fits next draft. I can see that with Sweat, Dayo, Booker, and Turner that the edge room has investment in it, more competition would have been nice, so I'll give them a year. DT, they decided 3 FAs and a 6th rd is good, we will see. Those have to be addressed soon with higher ceiling talent.

  14. another log on the fire for our glorious GM. here is what he also had to say about our 3rd round draft pick: Courtesy of Sports Illustrated: Chicago Bears On SIBears' Ben Johnson and Antwaan Randle El Get Their Wish W...The Chicago Bears are signing wide receiver Scotty Miller. Here's how the veteran fits on Chicago's wide receiver depth chart.Thomas in particular may not even be ready to contribute on offense in Year 1, something general manager Ryan Poles has previously said is possible. "So this is a tough system. It’s going to be a challenge for him to break through quickly (on offense). But we’re going to open that competition up for all of these guys coming in," Poles said of Thomas. "So, maybe that role starts small and grows over time. But I don’t want to put a cap on that. If he comes in and downloads fast and he’s up and running, we’ll see what happens," Poles added. seriously? a third round pick and it's possible he won't be ready to start?? the freaking role starts small and grows over time? this guy is laughable. we drafted the same positions last year and this years 3rd round guy has the starting prospects of a 7th round pick?
  15. no doubt the roster they are building is full of actual football players. its kind of incredible how bad weve been at this for so long, now that we see what doing it right looks like.
  16. yeah and he has the 8th highest RAS score for any TE drafted since the 1990s or something like that. Pretty good for an inline guy. I do think the writing is on the wall for Kmet, maybe not this year, but when we identified Kmet, DJ Moore and Swift as trade or cut bait at this time last year, it i slowly coming true. The bar has been lifted. ALl of those players are GOOD players, but not as good as they need to be, and over the years Johnson is going to build a hell of a roster - that much is clear now. We still need a LT and a DE tho LOL
  17. Another slot option.

Watching the video, I was surprised by the highlights for TE Roush. All the hype was that he was the best blocking TE in this year's draft class. What I saw was a big target with good hands. Great pickup for 3 TE Sets, valuable backup for Kmet & Loveland, and a (reported) strong blocker for pass pro and run plays. I feel a lot better about this pick by RP/BJ after watching the video.
  19. Seeing the potential with this class. Hope they all turn out to be great. When a team has grown as much as the Bears, they can narrow their search for the types of players the need/want. Next draft they will need to repeat nailing 5 positions and then the rest getting next man up at OL, TE/WR. I have 2 DT, 1 DE, 1 RB, 1 S

Some more love pouring out of rookie camp for Dillon: Dillon Thieneman Is Already Making News Headlines for the Bears The BJ quote about Dillon in the article I loved:

He was definitely over 340. Big Ted was pushing 400.

I couldn't load it, but if you have Instagram, look up the Bears tax. It's a crazy stat...

I have heard several times where BJ wants players that love football, high motors and are violent. The UDFA TE, Hayden Large, got a personal call from him before the draft telling him we were interested in getting him. After picking Roush, he thought he may not sign here, but after calling him, he said this is the only place he wanted to be. BJ was pretty excited about that. Probably just a PS member but TEs get injured a lot.

I doubt KT ever weighted 340 while with the Bears, I heard said that both him and Washington were in the 370 range.
  26. This again is going to be a tough division but having BJ and Celeb gives us the edge. Look at what the other teams added in the draft, all were more defensive draft picks over offense. I see the Viking having more of a bum than Lions and Packers.
