Winning Ugly is this the game that changes the culture?
DABEARSDABOMB replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
It would have been impossible to burn the clock out. You got to score. I’m actually think it worked out well as bears still would have had 38 seconds and 2 timeouts had the kick gone in - which to me would have been a much better place to be in then if the Bears gave the raiders 1 minute to go and no timeouts. -
Given his usual consistent hands I’ll give him a pass - but the penalties were too much. I expect BJ will be tough on him during the break. But in general the dude pretty much catches everything that hits his hands during his career - something was just off today.
-
Can we trade for a RB before the next game? I'll take Devon Achane if MIA looks to blow things up in the near future. They have to do something at that position. This group isn't going to work.
-
Things worked out - nice to win an ugly one going into bye. Lots to clean up but also seeing lots of progress. Should also be quite a bit healthier following the bye week
-
Look at Drake Maye's schedule. God would I kill for Caleb to have that. Almost entirely full of bad teams/and or teams with awful defenses.
- Today
-
Williams on pace for 3,940 Passing Yards, 34 TD, and 9 INT with 467 rushing yards and 4 rushing TDs. 3,838 Yards and 29 TD is the record (in 16 games). Caleb needs to average 224 Passing Yards and 1.7 Passing TD for the remainder of the season to break both records. I honestly think he will hit both before Week 16.
-
On pace for 85-1258 and 21 TDs. That would be the 6th most receiving yards in franchise history, and the franchise record for TD receptions is 13 (last achieved by Dick Gordon in 1974 lol), so he would blow that out of the water by 8. I am sure his TDs will slow down, but he has 13 games left to get 9 TDs (to hit 14 for the record).
-
3-2 in 2025, should be 3-1 this year, that Week 1 loss to McCarthy still stings. Still feels great to get a win and go into the bye at 2-2.
-
The early line has the Bears as +4.5 Dogs coming out of the bye. I think the line will shift as we get closer and determine the health of Daniels and McLaurin. Washington plays in LA at 3:25pm on Sunday, so they have to travel back home, but get an extra day of rest for MNF. So they very well could be 2-3 heading into the matchup with the Bears. The Commanders' offense is still putting up points, even with Mariota at QB. They scored 27 and lost to ATL, yet Mariota only threw for 156 yards. They had 147 rushing yards, which is what kept them in the game. The Bears need to shore up the run defense, especially if Daniels is back. Too early for predictions. Will do that after next Sunday.

Week 4 - Maye - 94.5 QBR - 203 yds. 2 TD, 0 INT, 1 sack, and 11 rushing yds. 214 Total Yards. Won. / Season QBR: 63.5, 988 yards, 7-2 TD-INT Penix - 90.3 QBR - 313 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT, 1 sack, and 2 rushing yds. 315 Total Yards. Won. / Season QBR: 60.0, 918 yards, 3-3 TD-INT Williams - 46.0 QBR - 212 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 sack, and 13 rushing yds. 225 Total Yards. Won. / Season QBR: 61.8, 927 yards, 8-2 TD-INT Nix - XXX QBR - XXX yds, X TD, X INT, X sacks, and XX rushing yds. XXX Total Yards. XXX. / Season QBR: 39.1, 535 yards, 5-3 TD-INT Daniels - DNP / Season QBR: 39.7, 433 yards, 3-0 TD-INT McCarthy - DNP / Season QBR: 20.7 (Last in NFL), 301 yards, 2-3 TD-INT Penix had himself a game. Same defense Caleb will face out of the bye. Maye had a low volume game (17 attempts), and his season QBR slide past Williams.

Glad you got to witness that nail biter. I wish the team was as relentless as the fans and would actually make GB suck. No matter what team the Bears have, the Waldron deck tunnel echos GB sucks. -
What a great win to watch in person, glad you got to see it.
-
Bears win! What a great environment. Bears fans showed up in a huge way. It was what sports is all about. I must have high fived and fist bumped 500 people of all races and sexual orientation. Chicago fans exemplified how to represent their team. I guarantee y'all will hear it from the team in their pressers. The chanting of Green Bay sucks as we walked to the strip was amazing! I'm exhausted. Bear freaking down boys! Let's get healthy now...
-
9 targets, 3 receptions, 3 drops, and 2 false starts. Ugly game.
-
Crosby is a menace. Sucks he is stuck in NFL purgatory.
-
He does hit the hole quicker. Swift is slow with no vision.
-
Can't count on a blocked FG to win, glad that happened, but could've avoided that situation with better clock management. I understand the theory of just scoring, but teams sometimes allow teams to score to get the ball back with more time. With how the defense was playing in the 2nd half, you can't give the other team that much time and allow that big of a return.
-
I’m with you here. This was not the game to burn clock expecting mistake free football on the last drive.
-
I'd like to see more of Monangai. He certainly looked better than Swift.
-
I understand your point. However, if they burned the clock and something happened, and we failed to score, we'd be 1-3 going into the bye. The way things were going, I could see us trying to score with 5 seconds left, Caleb gets sacked, or a WR drops another pass, and we lose the game.

As ugly as this was I have to say that TD drive for what became the winning score showed a lot of determination and grit. These kind of wins are important I building character and enforces the fact that you don’t quit fighting till the clock hits zeros. I was worried about this game because of how we manhandled the cowboys last week. were it not for all the takeaways we wouldn’t have been in this. It sucks to get all those takeaways and have very little to show for it. Aside from the turnovers we got little if any pressure. And we let a struggling Raiders run game look dominant. At time we show no desire to tackle. The big plays (takeaways) are making these issues. offensive line struggled to give Willams time to throw and again got no push in the run game. The run game has been non existent so it’s not just today. This has to get better. I know we had backups in there. Crosby is an absolute menace. Didn’t realize how tall and big his wingspan is. He put on a clinic batting down passes. That was a tall order for a backup tackle making his first start. -
Going into the bye with an ugly loss would have been horrible. Now they can make changes, get healthy, MAYBE pick up a few cheap free agents to replace some deadwood (can always hope).
-
The Hail Mary ended Flus's run, the team was sleepwalking after that game. My hope is this is the signature gritty win they were looking for, battling for 60 minutes to scrap out a last second win. Johnson needs to improve his play calling; felt like he was forcing the runs that were turning into instant lost yards. Then, with first and goal at the 2, you score on first down when you could have burned the clock all the way down and forced them to use their timeouts. A lot of learning points while getting a win going into the bye. They really need Edwards, Jarrett, Gordon, and Wright back.
-
Another week and another non-existent running game. I just don't understand what is going on. How could it be that bad. There are 3 defenders in the backfield or a huge hole and Swift or Monangai run right into a defender.
