  2. I wonder if they are interested, or want to go full tank mode. Bagent would win them some games.
  3. If they ever trade him, it will be because a bigger need rises and they need his cap value. Let's say the Bears go into 2026 needing 2 safeties and they miss out in the draft like they did on RBs. Kmet might be an asset that the Bears can trade for a good, vet S.

Its always nice to prepare for people to leave the year before. All Ss are out of contract next year. I think we are still in need of starters at other positions. I hope we are suprised by a few UDFAs making the roster. Elijah Hicks as been a valuable sub as a 7th round pick. Sanborn and Blackwell were a find. Next year we could resign some of our FA Ss or get some FAs or prioritize that position in the draft.
  5. Carr retiring today, seen all the main press posting it. Is it time to see what Bagent is worth?

Maybe since it was on barstools? He could be developed into the role Dennis Allen has said he wants Kyler Gordon to take. Having a backup that can step in and have little or no drop would be great. Or as Lucky said, maybe take Byards spot in a year. Signing a UDFA that can become a starter even better.
  7. Lucky Luciano

    UDFAs

runs a 4.51 and is only an inch shorter and 2 lbs lighter than Kevin Byard

  9. I dont think the team is absoultely not looking to do that. Its pundits and some fans that have to keep stirring the pot. 5 weapons is better than 3.
  10. i completely agree. the brass ring is there for the taking with talent and coaching and we want to get cute and cut/trade some very good players for more draft picks? yikes!!

i hope it turns out. Its kinda of strange Lambert giving credit to Greg Gabriel, that have clashed many times.
  12. I agree, he's here till the end of his contract. How do you run an effective 12 set with a blocking TE and a Y. Kmet's off year was because of targets. He's a top 10 TE in the league. Just when we get a potenial offense why start eliminating assets. It doesnt make any sense.
  13. its a good argument, and it hinges on how good Kmet will be. I think we all agree he will get a chance to show what he can do, so if he is really a problem for defenses, and a multiplier he will get his chance to show it. But in no way am I on board with trading DJ Moore. THAT guy is a player. He wasnt so well behaved last year, but i think he hates losing. I'm OK with that. Just like Stevenson, they get a blank slate this year. Eberflus deserves the blame for their sins, these players get a new start. But i still think, based on my belief of what level Kmet really is, that he wont be around next year, or maybe at the trade deadline. But if he plays differently, or johnson puts him situations to succeed and he proves himself, then you are right we will probably keep him.
  14. They have tons of cap space and have a player who is still ascending. Having two good tight ends is a multiplier and creates unique match up dynamics for defenses. When you combine that with the wideout crew and a bright offensive mind - you can create match up problems all over the field. Why the heck should the Bears cut someone or trade them and get rid of that. Kmet and Loveland are so complimentary and if you go big you put Loveland out wide and destroy them and you can also run…you can also spread the field and have Loveland out there for size and than shrink and run or use Loveland as a match up. We finally have real unique skill sets all over the field and people want to trade two of them so we can go back to being mediocre at skill position level - screw that - Bears have massive cap space - pile up as much damn talent as possible.

Oregon Duck Safety, Tysheem Johnosn could be a gem. Oregons best defensive player undrafted due to size. Dennis Allen has turned small DBs into great players. https://www.sportsmockery.com/chicago-bears/former-exec-says-tysheem-johnson-was-outright-robbery-by-bears/
  16. yes, youre right. however, Kmet will never be able to do what Loveland does, so if Loveland gets hurt, Kmet cant really fill his role anyway? The best argument for Kmets role on this team, in my opinion, is the 2 TE sets.
  17. Today Ozzie was taken reps on the left side. So at least their thinking about putting him there. I also seen a podcast that was talking about Henderson being available and we took him at 39, would we still draft Burden at 41?
  18. I dont think you want him gone but after Loveland is up to speed, get rid of the contract. I think he will be used as part of the offensive plan and stay until his contract is up. 2027. You nevere know when an injury pops up, so lets say they do trade him and a couple games later Loveland gets hurt. Totally would screw up the offensive scheme. They arent going to have cap problems until Caleb is up for a contract . All of these contracts except for DJ end in 2027.

  20. FWIW, i dont think the Bears are shopping Kmet. My prediction was next year, or at the trade deadline this year.
  21. I guess youre right. I thought 4k+ was optimistic, but Im only predicting 238 a game. I'll stay with my prediction, but youre right, if things click, it could be more.
  22. hahahaha thats hilarious

    Pope Leo XIV

I saw two funny ones: Chicago got the papacy before Detroit won a Super Bowl. It only took two days to select Pope Leo XIV, and it took 3 days to select Shedeur Sanders.

    Sack Reduction

I think it is natural for Bears fans to be pessimistic when it comes to passing numbers, but Goff is a good comp. He had 2x years with Anthony Lynn before Johnson took over. He improved in every statistical category. So Goff averaged 8.6 Y/A last year, which followed up back to back years of 7.6 Y/A. Williams was at 6.3 Y/A. So just say Williams adds only 1.0 Y/A to his average, that's over 500 yards from last year's total. If you consider that with the sack reduction, now he is around 700 yards better than last year with nothing else changed. If Trubisky could average 230 yards passing a game, Williams can average 250 per game. Stroud averaged 273 his rookie year. This is kind of funny looking back on it, but Trubisky averaged 230 yards per game in 2018 passing to Gabriel, Robinson, Miller, Burton, and Cohen. Compare that to Moore, Odunze, Burden, Loveland, Kmet, and Swift.
  25. good point. i guess I will say that other WRs will take yards from the ones I've already allotted? I wouldnt want to predict who they come from though! For me it starts with predicting Caleb goes just slightly over 4k. ANd odunze just slightly over 1,000 while DJ doesnt quite make 1,000 and burden takes a bunch of his catches. And then a guess at Loveland, and then the rest of the number kind of fall into place from there, so other WRs would have to take from Burden and DJ in my prediction I guess?
  26. It's pretty sad how rumors spread. It was said Pope Leo was a Cubs fan. Not a chance his brother said. He is Whitesox all the way.
