  1. Past hour
  2. Revisiting the terrible and unnecessary decision to give Jonah Jackson an extension because he sure hasn’t been good so far this year.
  3. looking at the schedule I see about 9-10 more losses coming.
  4. Today
  5. Super small sample size, but more numbers continue to show he's getting better. They scored 17 points against MIN (taking away the pick 6) and 21 against the Lions. They had 317 total yards against MIN, and 339 against the Lions. Penalties continue to kill this team, but if they can ever clean that up, there are signs of hope with this offense. Next week will be a big test. DAL's defense is horrible. If the Bears don't put up big numbers against them, It will be concerning. If they do, it will give some validity to the idea that they are improving.
  6. Okay thanks, so the software decides the IR eligible.
  7. In Week 2, Fields had 1.1 QBR, one of the lowest scores I have seen. 3-11, 27.3%, 27 yds, and a fumble lost before leaving the game with a concussion.
  8. Crazy to think the opening line has the Bears favored, but they do. My assumption is that will slide to DAL being the favorite as the week goes on and DAL gets hammered with money. At this point, it is probably another loss until something happens with the defense. If they can't get pressure, they can't have Stevenson out there trailing WRs by 5 yards on every play. I don't even know what type of coverage he is playing, but he has been one of the worst players on the defense, and teams just start targeting him on every play. Hopefully the offense decides to get the TEs involved because they combined for only 3 targets against DET. 2 for Kmet and 1 for Loveland. Right now the target share by position group is: 1. WR - 46 2. RB - 12 3. TE - 9
  9. The Bears really got screwed by the schedule makers (again). Back to back division opponents, then playing on the road against a division opponent on a short week.
  10. Even after the DET blowout loss, this Week 1 game still stings. MIN got away with one, defense did not adjust. Williams played better than Penix against MIN defense. MIN should be 0-2 right now. Sucks.
  11. Week 2 - Penix - 27.1 QBR - 135 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT, 3 sacks, and -1 rushing yds. 134 Total Yards. Won. / Season QBR: 62.6 Maye - 77.6 QBR - 230 yds. 2 TD, 0 INT, 3 sacks, and 31 rushing yds and 1 TD. 261 Total Yards. Won. / Season QBR: 60.3 Williams - 43.7 QBR - 207 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT, 4 sacks, and 27 rushing yds. 234 Total Yards. Lost. / Season QBR: 57.7 Nix - 72.3 QBR - 206 yds, 3 TD, 1 INT, 0 sacks, and 20 rushing yds. 226 Total Yards. Lost. / Season QBR: 43.6 Daniels - 26.9 QBR - 200 yds, 2 TD, 4 sacks, and 17 rushing yds. 217 Total Yards. Lost. / Season QBR: 39.1 McCarthy - 6.2 QBR - 158 yds. 0 TD, 2 INT, 1 FL, 6 sacks, and 25 rushing yards. 183 Total Yards. Lost. / Season QBR: 20.4 Penix won with 135 passing yards. Nix lost with a QBR of 72.3. McCarthy has had one good quarter in the NFL out of 8.
  12. If a player is IR eligible, when you go to move them to the BN, there should be another slot labeled IR to move them to. However, if they already played this week, you would have to wait until the next week starts because it will say they already played and can't be moved.
  13. I think the Ben Johnson effect will take some time but I have always been a Poles supporter but lost that yesterday. He's not going anywhere so all my criticism will be lost. Caleb played better this week than last but the rest of the roster has been exposed.
  14. I think we need to dwell on the positive after a butt whipping like this . Rome Odunze and Swift was effective. That's all I got. I stayed away from here yesterday and social media because I felt sick enough w/o the extra chatter.
  15. Adam , how do you put players on IR, if we actually have those spots? I dont remember if we do in this league or not.
  16. We are not seeing the performance from Caleb that would be expected of an elite QB. He has missed passes when under no pressure, either them being too low, or not well timed on timed routes in short to intermediate routes, or under or overthrown on deep routes. Goff was played well yesterday and Caleb didn’t. I agree he was let down by the team in the 3 phases, but at least I want to see him make the passes that most QBs are expected to make. I am also pissed at players who are unavailable for games due to muscle injuries. Those players and the fitness department have been poor leading into the season. I expect players to go down in the middle or towards the end of the season, but not now, unless it is an injury suffered like a joint sprain etc. I’m especially annoyed at Jaylon Johnson missing games. I think we can all agree, the strength of our roster doesn’t allow us to not have a best players on the pitch. I think it’s going to be a hard season again, and I thought we would at least be competitive this year, which doesn’t look likely.
  17. Watching ATL handle MIN with such ease tonight makes last week's loss even more embarrassing. McCarthy stinks. ATL got pressure on him all game and ran the hell out of the ball. Penix didn't even play well, and they still won on the road.
  18. Atlanta invested in two pass rushers and gave McCarthy trouble all game. Since Montez Sweat was left somewhere in 2023, this might be something Poles needs to consider. Was hoping Sweat, Dayo, Booker, and Co would have been enough but obviously not. Bears need Booker to return
  19. Too bad the Bears just extended him. We get to live with his decisions for a few more years.
  20. By the way - all that said - I’m not selling on the offense or BJ. I am really down on Poles though (have been a skeptic a while) and I expect this team will get better. Hopefully this was rock bottom for the year but rock bottom might be an 0-4 start if they lose to the Raiders - really hoping this was rock bottom and we see a bounce back here and than real improvement on a consistent basis post bye week.
  21. I thought Caleb has made progress this season so far. Penalties are still too much and Caleb still has plenty of development but this game was more on the penalties, the defense fading (and not having Kyler and JJ is a big deal - plus Smith out for the year - that is 3 of their 4 best cbs all gone). Plus pass rush - Sweat another empty game. Way too much money for no production. Sweat and Edmund’s just don’t make plays to go with their paychecks. JJ has - you could see his defense and it faded once he went out hurt…sucks cause I’m sure he’s out a while given same injury he missed most of preseason with.
  22. This is true - he has not been a good gm. No probowlers drafted, top 4 picks this year have basically done nothing so far. He got the coach and made a good trade - that is about all I can give him credit for at this point.
  23. Yesterday
  24. Poles is the worst GM of my lifetime—or at least since I became cognizant of what I was watching as a kid around the early 2000's. I know a lot of people would say Phil Emery, but Emery at least gave us 3 pro-bowl players in the draft (Long, Fuller, Jeffery). Two of them became All-Pro's. He also traded for Brandon Marshall and broke the cycle of WR futility. His misses were catastrophically bad, but he didn't have as much time as Poles did to do as much damage to the franchise. He also didn't ruin a quarterback. Poles has quite literally been bad at everything, from drafting to public speaking. His free agent signings are almost always terrible. His trades are even worse. Hasn't drafted a single pro-bowler in 4 years on the job. 0 playoff appearances. 2 double digit losing streaks.
  25. Welp, that was fun while it lasted. Didn't think I would need to start this thread this early, but it is hard to see much light at the end of the tunnel with the brutal schedule. As of this writing, the Bears are one of 7 teams at 0-2, with 2-3 more likely by the end of the week. So the entire top 10 may be winless after two weeks. What sucks for the Bears is the reverse order SOS, so not only do you get punished in season with the toughest schedule, that also equates to the worst draft pick. The league should move to strength of victory as the tie-breaker, and only use SOS for 0-17 teams. That would be a much more accurate indication of a team's true strength. 1. NO 0-2 (.407 SOS) 2. NYJ 0-2 3. MIA 0-2 4. TEN 0-2 5. CLE 0-2 6. NYG 0-2 7. CHI 0-2 (.600 SOS) 8. CAR 0-1 9. ATL 0-1 10. KC 0-1 11. HOU 0-1 (.654 SOS)
  26. I get the general cynicism, but the timing of this statement is strange considering the QB was the least of their problems today. He's honestly been fine through 2 games. I am seeing incremental progress. First game looked rough until I saw Kurt Warner's breakdown. This week, I think he improved until the game got away from them.
  27. Let’s face it. Bears picked the wrong QB again. The cycle will never end.
  28. This is 100 percent true. Poles has sucked in the draft. I hope that statement is proven wrong.
