  2. If Braxton plays in the 12th range, would you trade DJ Moore after the season so they can extend Braxton?

  4. I have played with you for a long time now and an complementing on being good at this. I use to be in 6 leagues and there is always a few people that consistently do well and you are in that category.

I hope he balls out but I dont think he will ever be a tier 1 LT, if he makes top 12 I would be excited. Will that be enough for BJ, dont know that but if he plays well enough for the offense to function is all I care about.

Looking at the contracts, I am still loving the Dalman signing. The 2 Centers with more APY than Dalman are from PHI and KC, pretty good company.
  7. I started playing in 1995 via Sporting News. You had to call in your changes every week between Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Then they would mail you the results weekly which you may not even receive until Wednesday or Thursday anyway. If you wanted a waiver wire pickup, you had to pay like $1-2 per. It was crazy. One of the biggest factors is also the waiver wire. Every year that I do well, I hit on at least one key waiver wire acquisition.
  8. I've been playing FF from before the internet where you had to go to bars to make leagues up. Consistent winners in FF are not about being lucky, you're very smart at this and trying to be humble isnt going to work. Injuries affect every team during the year. This one friend is in 22 FF money drafts. He doesnt win every league but is in the money placing in 1/3 his leagues. That's not about luck most of the time, its about being smart.
  9. thanks, it's a crapshoot, injuries are probably the biggest determining factor, and not overdrafting.

Braxton is now a four year starter and has been graded in the middle. Thayer said he sees improvement every week. I'm not concerned, unless he re-injures.

Obviously someone will start. I remember you stated , you want to see it, well now you get to, no more assumptions. Braxton is by NFL standards an average NFL starter, of course we want to see better. Joe Thuney has not played any preseason games, I think next to Braxton will help him play better. Now BJ will be scheming plays that will make Braxton look better. If Caleb gets the ball out in 2.4 seconds it will nullify the pass rush. Everyone wants all pros at every position, roster building is not an easy task.
  12. I think we have three backups at LT and no starter. That's not depth, it's an issue.

I think what all of this tells us is we have depth finally. Last year was a shit show on the OL especially when we had to go to back ups. JJ is suppose to start, he practiced yesterday. Not sure if he will be 100% but I suspect a 80% is better than 100% of Wright. We also have to remember Jefferson isnt a 100% yet, no Addison. The key will be putting pressure on McCarthy, we get to see what Dennis Allen brings to the table.

  15. Well I can have my hopes about Trapilo at LT, but the Bears released their depth chart yesterday, and Trapilo is RT2, with Benedet as LT2. Other noteables: Burden is third string after Moore and Zaccheus on one side, while Duvernay is second string on the Odunze Side, with Walker as third string. So Burden is no better than 5th above only Walker. Roschon Johnson is RB2 with Monangai as HB3 Jarrett and Dexter are the starting DTs, with Jarrett at 3T and Dexter at 1T. Williams and Turner are the second and thrid string DTs, with Billings backing up Dexter at Nose. Johnson is listed as CB1, with Nashon Wright behind him. If JJ doesnt play I guess Wright gets the nod? https://www.chicagobears.com/team/depth-chart

I used to listen to JJ on the score once a week. He is pretty careful about his words, so it could have been him joking. He does like to do that. He did want his money last time feeling like a top CB in the league on a rookie contract. I don't mind seeing the team secure him early as it made sense and they can spread it out over his last year on the rookie deal, so it helped each way. If he can be a top CB and team leader this year, then the Bears can listen if he demands, but they do not have to oblige or can shop him.

I hope this is right and it's just a narrative. I read his quote, but I didnt hear his tone of voice or body language, or even the context. So if that's what it was, then great!

I think this was just JJ joking around after he saw the insane big money deals and media types, as they like to do for clicks, took it seriously. Whenever you hear JJ talk his top priority is winning.

I agree. Poles has been pretty disciplined on the cap. The story is out on Dayo, who is a significant dent in our cap, but in general Poles has been disciplined. I totally agree that the writing is on the wall with Jaylon Johnson. He's good, but he's not worth what he's going to want. A trade seems likely at some point.

JJ was whispering he wanted more money but knows he has to play well to demand more money. I hope he gets 10 ints. and is all pro. We will deal with a better contract later.
  21. Thanks a lot, you always do a good job, the only problem is you seem to win all the time.

Poles is doing great with the cap. I am not happy with JJ thinking he is the best thing since sliced bread. He wanted more money/early extension and Poles gave him a deal that he accepted. Now he is whispering his deal doesnt look so good. Well maybe he should of waited one year instead of demanding the early extension. Knowing every year those numbers grow. I dont know what todays restructuring did, but it gave the Bears a little more room this season. I just hope Poles has JJ holding out next year on his radar. The extra cap this year might have to go to RB or DE as those two positions have injury concerns.

  24. Yes, I just sent him another invite via Yahoo to ranordoorguy@gmail.com to take ownership of My Team Sucks.
  25. I assure you Ryan Poles is 100% planning for the future. It was abundantly clear in draft picks like Trapilo Burden Newman. His job is to restock the roster with good young talent that is cheap. No reason we can’t speculate how that might play out over the next year or two. To put it another way: I want to see Burden become so good this year that DJ Moore is WR3 next year.
  26. try to focus on football Im tired of your whining about how I construct sentences, word usage, proper grammar. From now on I will no longer get sucked into your pettiness . I will only be addressing football subjects. I have repeated many times about letting the season dictate what happens next year.
  27. FWIW Im not even saying here that we should have traded for Parsons. The trade price was steep, and he is injured. There are good points on both sides of that. All Im really saying is that *IF* the right player is available, you can find more cap room by doing things (like restructuring contracts) than it currently shows we have on spotrac or overthecap. Im saying you can't just look at those numbers and calculate how much cap is available. But trading for Parsons has a lot more detail that is debatable than simply whether the cap space could exist, which is the only point Im making.
