  1. Today
  2. They drafted an OT in the 2nd round, only the 56th player taken. Why would they use a 2nd on the position when they used a 3rd last year unless they thought they needed more competition (i.e. an upgrade) at that position? 2nd round is pretty high priority. Also, Banks might have been the pick if he was still on the board. We cant know that?
  3. It's SO true. No one knows anything, so you may as well watch tape and just go with what you see. It's not that they're stupid. I think it's that they take in too MUCH information, and try to fit it all in - rumors, narratives. For example, Campbell's arms are too short. And the guy goes 4th overall. And we all know a lot of these guys will bust too. So for example, I predict Membou wont be great. He may be serviceable for a while, but I think Banks will have the better career. Obviously it's gonna take a few years to see. But this is my feeling based off of tape. I dont know their 40 times. I look at that for skill players sure, but not OL etc. But what we CAN say now, is just because so and so said something doesn't mean anything. Teams value players very differently from each other anyway so even if a pundit is "right" in terms of seeing the world the way the Bears do, they may have no ability to see the world the way the Saints do. And i think that all means that if someone watches some tape, their opinion isnt stupid or wrong just because some pundit sees things differently
  4. There was no trenches except Ersery to draft. I think Ersery could be better than what we have, but Burden was a 1st rd prospect and they went that route. Ersery was closer to 3rd round in many opinions, I think he will be a name around for a long time. I think they messed up not taking Kaleb Johnson to be replace Roschon Johnson as a 1, 2 combo. Maybe Scattebo will be the pick round 4.
  5. You're right it is a mute point, not any different from saying they would have taken if he was available. I think Johnson's plan was to add playmakers over the trenches. Taking 2 weapons with their first 2 picks. We are guessing at their evaluation of the team, so everyones opinion is valid.
  6. With a new coaching staff he'll get his shot but they add depth to not have to count on him.i hope he shines and becomes part of the rotation.
  7. Pickens seems wrote off, the Bears had him playing out of position and he was hurt. He busted his ass with dexter and is more a 3t and 0t. Let him play at his natural position.
  8. On point one - it’s hard to say. I think Banks might have been an option but he wasn’t there so that made it a moot point. They clearly had a higher grade on their 2nd round pick than any OT still on board…the wideout they got was a bpa type of pick who also feels a lot like Amon St Brown.
  9. I think the draft has given us some insight into their opinion of the team. It seems they didn't deem LT as a must get priority as a lot of fans have. As I said before, they will let Braxton and Kiran compete and bring a player in to develop because Braxton probably won't be here next year. Johnson talked many times about weapons and clearly added 2 with a RB left to get. He plans on playing chess with our offense and added players he can do that with. They didn't seem to think S and LB needed attention as they added no one in Free agency or in the draft so far. Anyone now would be developmental. I think RB and DE will be addressed in the 4th round. Hopefully Jack Sawyer and Cam Skattebo would make me happy.
  10. I do because I find it odd for someone to say a person was shy and insecure at a news brief. Those are things you say when you give a job interview .
  11. Just goes to show you pundits don't have any clue what teams want to do. I listened to a lot of live podcasts today and it's amazing how many have big egos. Hoge was talking about a couple picks and made statements like so and so was on the board and they should have took him instead ( I had him rated higher). They think they're smarter than a scout department. Two thinks I thought they would do in the draft was build the trenches and get us a weapon. Come to find out weapons were higher on the list. Loveland was highly rated so that was understood but Luther was totally unexpected. He was rated a first round pick by some. They may just have picked BPA at that point. I expected them to trade back. They grabbed a LT and DL. Reading about Turner, he played 2yrs outside before putting on 20 lbs to move inside. I think DA sees him as being able to play both giving him flexibility. Now we have an extra 4th round pick. 109+148. I think that will be a DE and RB. Jack Sawyer or Bradeyn Swinson for DE. Cam Skattebo or Damien Martinez would work as RBs for me. They looked at Brashard Smith and jaylon Blue also.
  12. Yes because 4 of 5 picks last year were 30 visits. Apparently there is no pattern.
  13. but you yourself were drawing lines to players based on the 30 visits!
  14. I would say you nailed it. I think the only person on this thread that got a pick right.
  15. I don't even remember Poles mentioned any of these names. Loveland was getting love but never tied to the bears. For all the people predicting stuff because of their sources, clearly need new sources.
  16. right. so those that read the tea leaves too hard arent necessarily looking at any information at all. I often feel like the pundits are wrong not because they dont have enough information, but because they have too much. It's just how a guy plays on tape, what his upside is, and if his character is good.
  17. With all the picks this is the easiest one to rout for. Farm kid from small town and can ball. This is a no brainer as a WR type that plays TE.
  18. Interesting note - best I can tell, there was no report that any of the Bears first four picks in this draft (Loveland, Burden, Trapilo, Turner) came in for a 30 visit. This after every pick from their 2024 Draft except for Tory Taylor had come in for a 30 visit. 🤷‍♂️
  19. kudos! hes gonna be good for us too. who can a defense cover now?!
  20. I see Bradeyn Swinson is still available. I thought he would be gone already. We have the 7th pick in the 4th. Wonder if he makes it there. Also Jack Sawyer is still available.
  21. Caleb texted Loveland this just after the pick: “Congrats, I'm excited to get you here, I'm going to be tough on you, coach Johnson's going to be tough on you, but [you're a] heck of a player, excited to get things rolling," Loveland said. "Just let me know if you need anything, I'm here, just excited to get you here and meet face-to-face and get the ball rolling.'" I like the leadership!
  22. I don't think they think S or LB is a problem. They would have gotten a FA if that was a need. RB is the next pick? Skattebo, Martinez, Sampson, Neal, Brashard Smith, Jayden Blue. Only 7 RBs taken so far , they are targeting someone.
  23. Didn't they give up the 148. to get the 109? I just seen they gave up 233, not 148.
  24. The bears did the work and this is who they decided on. Didn't seem to want Ersery because they could have had him. So I expect they traded back knowing they option might be there. At least they finally addressed the OL.
  25. He was rated high most places. Clearly Johnson wants more weapons to work with. As they pick players, now I go watch tape to see what we got.
  26. I never checked him out but as they pick players, the reviews are good.
