Sacks Rates are crazy this year. Ward is on pace to be sacked 72 times just based on games played. That is if he survives or plays all 17. McCarthy has been sacked 14 times and has 66 passing attempts. He also has 4 INTs in that same 66 attempts. If McCarthy attempted the same number of passes Williams did in 2024 (562), McCarthy would be on pace for 119 sacks (not a typo). He is basically sacked every 5th drop back, yet you will only hear about his grittiness. If he had the same number of attempts as Williams in 2024, he would also be on pace for 34 INTs lol. Maye has been sacked 34 times and has 255 passing attempts. If Maye gets to 562 attempts like Williams did in 2024, he would be on pace to be sacked 75 times.

No Skattebo or Nabers. This will be a big test on the oline, NYG has one of the better front 7s. Caleb felt ghost pressure against Cincy, he will probably have real pressure next week.

Is Devin Duvernay worth the 1.3 million roster spot? Being a pro-bowler, I thought he would be a little better. I'd be good letting Burden get some of that work. I mentioned Santos could be cut before this season for his cap savings. Jonathan Owen's won't be back, he plays one of the gunners and how often is he there. Hate to pile on the guy, but Hightower cannot be the ST coach next season. Id be okay drafting some S/LBs that can excel at STs.

Well even the best coaches get beat on some plays! So perfection is impossible. But just this: how long has it been since a coach that didnt give up on the run game? Just that alone rocks.

Dart has had some good games. Our defense tends to make average QBs MVP candidates.

Yeah for sure. Still learning, but already light years ahead of Flus, but room to grow. The officials are still impacting the game though, which makes everything look worse. On the Byard INT, there was no DPI, that happens on almost every play on those routes. Then on the Edmunds INT, so if a player touches a player before they have possession, and that player goes to the ground after, they are down? Doesn't he have to complete the catch first?

The 10 players outside of the kicker are on the 40, with the ball regularly kicked inside the 5, yet somehow the returner can go 30 yards in the same amount of time that the Bears kickoff unit goes 5. The math is not mathing. Also, with the returner and the kicker not counted, it is 10 vs 10, and in most cases 10 v 9 since teams have 2 guys back deep. There is no way a returner should be able to go the distance unless he breaks multiple tackles, but untouched? The other teams do it to the Bears, and when the Bears do have a longer than average return, there is always a holding call, always. Sure you can get a few other bottom of the roster players that may be better on Special Teams, but I can't see them making that big of a difference. I believe it is how they are being used, which is on the ST coach.

Against CIN, they allowed 297 return yards, a KR for a TD, and allowed an onside kick that did not go 10 yards. That is a net -163 yards on Kickoffs, which is insane. With the team always on the wrong side with the officials, they can't afford to lose on Special Teams in every game too.

I think Hightower and a LOT of the roster will get replaced this offseason. That's gonna help special teams a lot too. We are playing to win now of course, and we are playing to develop Caleb too, but we are also evaluating everyone this year, and I dont think Ben Johnson will be shy about replacing players, and fixing the special teams. Looking at you Cairo too.

I don't know who he has pictures of, because he has never been a particularly good coach. It is clear that he does not understand how to scheme for the new kickoff rules and the Bears need someone that can put the players in a better position on kickoffs.

Johnson gets beat sometimes in a rock paper scissors kind of way, but he doesnt make those unforced errors Flus was famous for.

The Bears are 5-3 playing at home (2-1), and the Giants are 2-7 (0-5 on the road), yet the Bears are only favored by 3? I fear that the refs will be heavily involved in this game. This shouldn't be a close game. Without Skattebo, the Giants leading rusher was Dart. So I would hope this makes it a little easier for the defense. I am going with Bears 30-17.

What may have been missed was Johnson calling a timeout when the Bengals had the ball before they scored the TD. Flus would never have done that.

There are a few others he hit too in regards to the TDs and receptions.

Spot on so far, and even my spidey senses from the offseason felt like this Cincy game was going to be a shootout. Not exactly how I envisioned it back then, but the outcome was the same.

It's November, and guess what? Special Teams is still a problem. When you get kicks blocked, continually hold on your own kick returns or don't even get to the 30, while allowing onside kicks and KR TDs, it is coaching. Hightower needs to go. Too many games decided by officials and Special Teams, and the Bears are not good enough to overcome them every week.

Caleb is the first player in NFL history with +250 passing yards, +50 rushing yards, and 20+ receiving yards in a game, ever.

I definitely think Loveland is the better prospect, had him rated above Warren in my pre draft stuff, BUT I still think TE at pick #10 is a weird move. But weve got him, and I think he will be great.

Caleb finished 20/34 (58.8%) 280 yards, 3 TDs, 114.8 Rating He ran around a lot, mostly because he was hurried a lot by the pocket breaking down. Also the Bengals were in man to man defense almost exclusively, which you coulkd see by how easily Caleb was able to run for 10+ yards. Looked to me like Johnson has told Caleb to take the run for the first down when the middle opens up from man to man defense, as he was making the choice to tuck and run quicker in those situations. Caleb also had some accuracy issues, and WRs had drops, and were getting open as much as they should (the ll 22 will tell the story, so maybe Im wrong, Im never sure until I see what was going on downfield. But Caleb also had a game winning drive. The great ones find ways to win. I give Caleb a B overall for this game. Also Monangai was GREAT - looking forward to seeing him do it against real defenses next - no reason to think he wont.
