Bears draft Sam Roush, TE at 69
Roush's High School football coach was Trent Dilfer. Dilfer mentioned teams going 3 TEs is cheaper, they dont get paid the same as WRs. You play 2 WRs in 12 personal, 1 WR in 13, so you dont need as many WRs on the roster as well. Count down to Bear fans chirping on the socials about how the Bears are broke/cheap for taking the TE....3..2..1.

#213 - Jordan van den Berg, DT, Georgia Tech
JVdB is a Grady Jarrett comp. He should be able to learn a lot from Grady this year, and that should help his development a lot too. If he reaches his ceiling, hes a hell of a steal.

on all the official sites, Squirrel White ran a 4.63 (or was it 4.64?) forty at his pro day this year. Rumors of a significantly faster time some time in 2024 are just rumors. If he could run that fast, he would have run better than a 4.6+ in front of all the scouts in advance of the draft. He is not a 4.3 guy or even a 4.5 guy. Thats just a fact.

Bears draft Sam Roush, TE at 69
Trevor Sikkema was talking about the Bears draft and made a good point about taking Roush at 69. 4 TEs came off the board in the bottom half of the second round and if the Bears wanted Roush that's where they had to take him instead of waiting until 89 where he thought he should go. 3 more TEs came off the board before the 89th pick. They guessed right , they would have never got him.

There is some questions but barring injury we are going to have a talented WR room. Lots of fans and pundits were cheering DJ Moore leaving so Burden and Rome can get a larger role are the same ones saying we need more at WR. Kalif Raymond will have a bigger role than expected. He wanted to sign with BJ over being the third WR in Detroit. BJ will find plays for Zavion Thomas. I can see him getting some snaps at RB considering his speed and the other speed we have on the team. Squirrel White was a second place Alabama 100 meter sprinter when coming out of High School. As a prospect he was listed at 4.37 speed. In 2024 while at the U of Tenn, he was clocked at 23.4 MPH of which they used their GPS system on all their players. If you watch tape he looks more like a 4.3 player than a 4.63 that he did at his pro day. He had a 40.6 inch vertical. It is reported that before his pro day he had a PCL strain he was nursing that he got working out for his pro day. I couldnt find collaboration about the 4.28 report but he is definitely a 4.3 speedster.

I have been looking at video on each rostered player and Cam Lewis has some good tape on him. He is a sure tackler and plays well close to the line of scrimmage. He will backup both Dillion and Kyle Gordon at NB. https://youtu.be/ll7lL_uqLD8?si=0f2NpuVIDnAS2yPH

Me? I dont post a lot, draft time sure. My post was about finding an Odunze replacement next year. Walker might be it, but until he shows more, hes not a #1 X WR. Fill-in, yes.

Bears draft Sam Roush, TE at 69
Somebody is not happy Windy City GridironMore NFL Executives Weigh in on the Chicago Bears 2026 Dr...Let’s check in on what a few more NFL team execs had to say about some of the Bears’ draft picks. “Chicago was really good in the run game this past year, and to get Roush to play tight end, damn, they are going to be able to run some strong-side runs,” a third team executive told Sando. “This guy can block all the defensive ends.” I like how the exec threw the “damn” in there. Makes you think it’s a pick he didn’t necessarily like seeing head to the Windy City.

Jahdae Walker is 6’3”. Or are you saying he won’t develop at all?

My hope and theory
Im not sure where that came from. Ive seen he was clocked at 23 mph or something but no official 40 times until combine. Im all for checking him out, be great if he can be a Tank Dell, but not holding my breathe. I think we are going to need another big WR to challenge Odunze next year.

Exactly. The offense can start off on all cylinders. They will get Jones, and Roush up to speed quick and Thomas who seems capable of learning might take longer to see WR reps but will be in STs early and often. Once he gets his routes and duties down, I think he has the talent to be the #3. The defense might take a little longer with newer pieces, but all season last year they were having to plug pieces in due to injuries. If they stay healthy, we should see a pretty big jump on improvement. Being an offensive minded led team, we have to get used to our leader adding the parts he wants. As long as the GM has some say to go defense, we should have some long term success.

Last year when camp started the offense was a mess. Of course it was all new and lots of stuff to learn blah blah... Players now know what is expected of them come day 1. I think we'll have an idea what we've got in the first week of camp. Burden was injured in OTAs and missed some practices and had some catching up to do when he finally started getting reps. Loveland also missed all OTAs and had a lot of catching up to do once he started getting reps in camp. Now we're just trying to bring rookies up to speed and in more limited roles.

Watching this 30 play game film makes me very optimistic for what we can get out of VDB. I don't know how good Syracuse's Oline was but I'd also say it simply does not matter because they are still big strong dudes. If Van Den Berg can handle a double team and literally not even move his feet because those two cannot move him off his spot that's a win. Triple team him? Ok he'll just stand here and won't be moved. Granted NFL Olineman are going to be stronger but IMO it raises the floor considerably for what we can get out of him. Last year Billings was getting moved all over on double teams. At a minimum if that's all we ask him to do we should be better. Then there are some pass rushes showing his ability to bend around an OG to get to the QB like an edge rusher does against OTs. That's not common. We're not exactly sitting on great depth at DT but I'm more confident now that VDB will show he belongs in the rotation early in the season. His burst and power to get through gaps should make him good at beating wide zone concepts.

Its not gonna take until game 5 for the offense to figure it out. Ben knows teams are preparing for them, so he adds more ingredients to cook with. Welcome to food networks Beat Bobby Flay...Benny Johnson.

right, and we have Kalif Raymond and Zavion Thomas for those roles. Squirrel might go to the practice squad, I agree, but that's all he is at least until he develops over multiple years. But in no world does he run anything like a 4.28, or even a 4.5- My hope and theory
I don't see him making much more than a practice squad player to be honest. He has decent 10 yd split and lateral quickness, but he doesnt have a route tree and being smaller is a injury liability. If we need a returner to get by, maybe he gets elevated.- My hope and theory
squirrel white ran over a 4.6 at his pro day. there is some rumor out there that he ran a 4.28 in 2024, but with the pro scouts watching, and looking him over for the draft, it was a 4.6+ - My hope and theory
