  2. We are in the quiet period of Bears talk since most beat writers are taking vacations while coaches and players are doing the same before camp. It is a good time to make your predictions on players who surprise or emerge in this new DA scheme. Let your imagination out and lets hear who your player is and some reasons why.
  3. you're absolutely crazy. just watch the tape. honestly if you think Fields is good, then your opinion on everything is wroth questioning. now I know, people have different opinions on things and thats cool. When I say I think Fields in the open field is similar to Hester, thats an opinion. Its all well and good for someone else to say they dont agree. Its not a fact, its an opinion. Most of what's said on here is opinion. And thats cool. But Fields is terrible. Thats a FACT. It's already been proven. What I couldnt believe was the idea that you were arguing that Fields has already been PROVEN GOOD. That the idea that Fields is bad hasnt aged well. LOL. Did Pittsburgh keep him? I dont think you know how to watch football, I really dont. I think you just regurgitate what idiots like Greg Gabriel and Pat the Designer and Swifty say. Its ridiculous. Put down the kool aid and just watch some film - it isnt hard. You can see how players play with your own eyes. You dont have to be a genius either, thankfully. You would have kept Fields. You would have kept Eberflus. Dude, you need to rethink your football life.
  4. How many times are you going to repeat yourself? Everyone knows how youl feel. He has not been the man yet but that doesnt mean he cant get better and be a NFL starter. Its okay to have different opinions. Last year he improved his completion pct and QB rating. He improved his pocket time from 2.8 seconds to 2.5. His on target accuracy improved from 73% to 75%. For comparison purpose Calebs was 72.4%. Its funny you post stats to tell me how bad he is but when I post stats they dont mean anything. My whole point is I think he is getting better and IS a starting QB in the league.
  5. Dude, Fields SUCKS. That rating means nothing, when he hardly threw the ball. 2,500 yards is the best he ever did! This goes far beyond optimism - it's rainbows and unicorns.
  6. I think by our bye week we should start to get on a roll with a successful offense. There will be some good and bad moments in our first 4 games, but that is to be expected.
  7. Since you are always predicting failure for Fields, we get to watch him be a starting QB in the NFL. The proof is in the pudding. Last year he had a 93.3 QB rating. Caleb was 87.8 . I am saying he is good enough to start in the NFL and keep repearting that I do not think he is in the top 15. He will finish between 15th. and 20th. You seem to only have two opinions on QBs (star or bust) the real world does have a sliding scale. We both know our own opinions and this year will show where he fits. Here he played for a lousy coaching group and bad OL. In Pitt he shared the QB spot. Believe it or not players can get better with more experience and finding the right fit. Geno Smith, Sam Darnold are examples of QBs playing better after shaky starts.

  9. Ok so Ive been thinking more about this. Are you actually arguing that Fields has proven himself to be GOOD? Really? Why does no one keep him? Your best proof is that the Jets paid him? They are widely known as shrewd QB talent evaluators? And signing someone doesnt matter - hes on his 3rd team already. He has to produce before you can argue that hes any good. So far his production has been terrible! Here is JF's BEST season: 2562 yards, 16 TD, 9 INT - his other seasons were WORSE. that's 150 yds a game average. YUCK! His BEST season LOL Here is CW's rookie season in which he had three different OCs, the first OC and head coach got fired, and the OL was trash: 3,541 yards, 20 TD and 6 INTs and people are saying Caleb had a bad year, might be a bust. LOL Caleb threw for almost 1,000 more yards, had 4 more TDs, and only 2/3 as many INTs. Tell me again that Fields is good. What a bunch of crap!

    Goff vs Williams

I could not have asked the Bears to do more than what was done this offseason. If Caleb can't succeed with this supporting cast it's because Caleb can't succeed. I'm not expecting great things in Wk 1 because everyone is learning the offense. There should be a lot of positive drives in the first few games and consistency should be there by midseason.
  11. If Keenan Allen was not here, this may not even be be in discussion. Allen was Caleb's safety blanket. 121 targets and 70 receptions. If his #1 read wasnt open, then all eyes went his direction. DJ with 140 targets and 98 receptions Those target/reception percentages will improve with a better oline and Caleb being more settled. Kmet has shown he can produce with less and will rebound if the QB has time, which I believe will happen.

    From Bad to Good

Kmet gets a lot of hate, but he did more with less than most TEs in the league.
  13. So I have seen media discussing the leap Goff took when he went from LA to DET. They have tried to project that same leap onto Williams this year. Now I can see using that as a starting point, but Williams is destined for a much bigger leap in my opinion. The gap between McVay and Waldron/Brown is massive. The fact that Johnson got something more out of Goff than McVay did should speak to how good of a coach and play caller he is. This is also evident by the down year Goff had in between McVay and Johnson with Anthony Lynn as OC in 2021.
  14. This is considered the biggest surprise for the Bears. I had to lol over it, as we are talking about LB3 on a defense that plays in a package with an LB3 less than 25% of the time. However, it actually highlights something else, that the Bears roster is pretty solid. Outside of Jones vs Trapilo, every starter and key backup is already set as far as I am tracking. Maybe you could make a case for CB2 and Stevenson vs Smith/Frazier?
  15. Nice to see Brisker out there, JJ looks faster. The hype train is full steam ahead.
  16. DE is a question mark with depth: Dayo and Sweat are our starters. (Austin Booker-Dom Robinson-Xaiver Calton-Dainel Hardy-Jamree Kromah-Jereme Robinson are our backups. Also Shemar Turner and Gervon Dexter could take some snaps outside. Dayo 6-5 282 Sweat 6-5 273 Austin 6-4 258 Dom 6-5 275 Xaiver 6-6 273 Hardy 6-2 260 Kromah 6-3 268 Jereme 6-3 258 Shemar 6-3 293 Dexter 6-4 326 We have many players with the size to play the DA DE position. So who could be a breakout player we are not counting on. As BJ stated I think Dom could be that guy.
  17. Here is some interesting stats: Consider two years unded Fields and one under a rookie QB. Kmet has the 10th most yards of a TE the past 3 years and of those he has the 4th most TD's behind Kittle, Andrews and Kelce has 56 less trgts than Kittle, 29 less than Andrews and 192 less than Kelce
  18. Oh for sure, there are like maybe 10 guys who can do it at the level that you know you'd keep them long term, in the world! Maybe 10, maybe a lot less. Depends on how you rate em. It's hard!
  19. Agreed. Smart guy, slow processor. It's nothing to be ashamed of. That's why QB is the most elite position in all of sports.
  20. Fields, to me, is a superior athlete that doesn't have the mental talent at the QB position. I'm not saying he is stupid at all. But he has never shown an ability to read defenses in rhythm, and you can bet the Jets are thinking about Arch Manning next year, and signed Fields to get Manning. They may also have Fields be that transitional QB for Manning, but once Manning (or whichever rookie they take) starts, that'll be it for Fields. Fields is not an NFL starting QB. People have given him chances to show that he can be one, but he hasnt done it anywhere yet, and I dont see how he will.
  21. Last week
  22. Fields is such a weird case, he is one of 40 QBs in NFL history with 4K Passing yards and 2K Rushing yards (career totals). Of that group, he has the 2nd fewest passing yards (Bobby Douglass), and is below Tyrod Taylor, Colin Kaepernick, and Daniel Jones. His career arch is looking very similar to Marcus Mariota's (started as rookie, then jumped around on one year deals, now on 5th team). Fields is on his 3rd team.
  23. I said slide sooner, not simply slide. The sooner slides probably took them yards off his stats. As far as open field running, the vision and explosiveness aren't even close. To see a path through eleven people solely focused on you is far different than eluding a pass rush and running into a spread field with 40 percent of the defense in the rearview mirror.
  24. Watching the Bears last year showed me we had more talent than a 5 win team suggests. Coaching doomed a winning season. If you think Caleb is the real deal, you have to be optimistic on our chances.
  25. lol - lets see what the Jets do after this year with him. The idea that fields is GOOD at QB is like teeth that haven't come in yet because the baby teeth are still in LOL
