Mock Drafts
If there is a guy they believe will be a blue chip player regardless who is already signed, you do it. There are 3 or 4 LBs that could be there Hill, Rodriguez, Trotter that would become team captains when you are transforming the whole defense, its as good as a time to bring that voice in. They filled DT in FA, so they may not draft one. CB, WR, RB, and C all have players too but yes depth and upgrades should be considered. The Bears can go anywhere position wise and that is what keeps us confused trying to predict outcomes.

Mock Drafts
If they draft a Urlacker type LB, I m all in but who is that? Edwards will probably be gone after this year but Demarco Jackson is probably his replacement to go with Bush. Every year we should draft every position but we don't have enough picks for that. I think 1 DE, 1 DT , 1 S, 1 CB, 1 WR, 1 RB, and a C . If we get extra picks, then a LB will be addressed but I don't think it will be a priority in this draft. Hyppolite is counted on to improve, if not then we draft another one.

Drafting Trotter, Edwards or whoever is expenable. He will be your Singletary or Urlacher of 2026 and beyond.

Their are several available and most are third round and latter. He doesn't have to start right away, so they will decide the upside. I like the 2 tackles that will project to center. Kuhn and Parker, bigger bodies. It could be a 7th round James Brockermeyer.

Boredom is Taking Me Hostage
This is usually the busiest time of the year on this site. This year is a little different because we finally won. Rumors do get morbid but draft time always attracts my attention.

Mock Drafts
This draft will be graded by what rookies made first year contributions, not 3 years from now. The first 3 picks have to contribute. A safety will start, A DE will be rotational anyways. Same for DT. A LT will probably need to develop, a center will be a future starter. Unless Edwards isn't healthy, a LB wouldn't be a starter right away. A high CB pick would be the 4th or 5th CB to start. WR would be the 6 th pass catcher, RB third on the depth chart. Because we didn't get the comp pick, 75% chance we move back instead of forward. Last year there were 3 trades between 25 and 32. Many teams always want to get there guy and reach late in the first round.

I mentioned this in another thread but there literally 10-12 guys you could get in rounds 2-4 and maybe even 5 who seem like viable future starting centers. Whichever one they think is the best fit works for me.

Bradbury didn't have a penalty or give up a sack last year. To many people gage players by PFF ratings. By next year, no one will notice Dalman was gone.

I hope they draft one (center) to start a pipeline. It was disgusting seeing all the guys they traded for or signed since Kreutz. We finally get Dahlman and he decides to retire.

It’s a really good center draft so I’d be shocked if the Bears don’t get a center of the future in the middle rounds. and I still don’t buy OT in the first round.

I'm sure you're right. However, just because they confirm he was the best option to turn to doesn't mean there will not be a big drop-off. I read he was ranked 30 out of 40 qualifying centers in 2025. The encouraging point is that he will be sandwiched between two outstanding guards.

Mock Drafts
A mock draft from the Bears Talk simulator. I was graded C+, but I'd say a drafting a starting DE, S, and LB with a rotational DT, a gadget RB, and developmental C and DE is at least a B. Dont sleep on Patrick Payton, 6'5 260 4.65 speed, he has the tools to be a good pass disruptor. He needs strength to set the edge and hold up in the run, so a good year or two can make him an asset. They developed Dominique Robinson from WR to DE, so maybe take another swing.

The Bears did a lot of home work on Garrett Bradbury for center. Ben's offense is very complex and they wanted someone who can handle everything so there is no drop off from Dahlman. I don't think we will notice a difference and see better snaps.

Looking at the players' positions, it is encouraging that they have 3 centers listed. I am very leery of the guy we picked up from NE. Maye was sacked 47 times. Now, it's not all on the Center, but???

Boredom is Taking Me Hostage
I think or hope the talk will get better in the next 5 or so days. The Bears are wrapping up their scouting now and will be finishing their rankings next week, then they start doing their own mocks to set some odds on how they feel it will fall. I think this board has covered players or scenarios and are probably as clueless as you can be since we are down the board for once. We know the position needs, assume what players fit, but we know a knuckle ball will be thrown at some point.

Mock Drafts
This is a decent team filler draft but it's not looking like an all-pro type. I can see the Bears moving up to 10-15 if a player like S Caleb Downs goes that far or Edge David Bailey. I think it will be hard to move down because I see most teams looking for that opportunity. A top 10-12 team might want more picks if they are rebuilding.

Mock Drafts
Teams want out of the top ten but who wants in. This is not a good draft among top ten. At almost any position you could trade back 10 picks and get similar talent. Mendoza being the exception and he doesn’t really have to 5 talent. https://www.profootballrumors.com/2026/04/giants-eyeing-trade-down-move-from-no-5-other-teams-interested-in-trading-back#ref=home

Boredom is Taking Me Hostage
Damn, I hate the off-season. I want football! Not countless articles with clickbait and rumors.; On Good Morning Football this morning, they mentioned that the record for most passing yards in a single NFL game is 554, set by Norm Van Brocklin of the Los Angeles Rams on September 28, 1951, against the New York Yanks. This record has stood for over 70 years. 25 times in NFL history has a quarterback reached 500+ passing yards in a game. But the record still stands. Caleb has said he wants to be the G.O.A.T. - There is a goal for him to achieve. Caleb throws for 555 yards against the Green Bay Packers, who, of course, will find a reason to throw some shade. Okay, I did mention I am bored. ;-)

The Beast Draft Guide
I watch a lot of podcasts, bears related, and it bugs me with all these pundits that think they're experts on draft prospects. How much actual time do they put in evaluating prospects? I think they read a lot of other people's information and then they watch 4 or 5 games? Hundreds of prospects they can't have the time to do that. People like Dane Brugler actually has a network and puts in the time so I trust his opinion more. I don't agree with everything and he's not always accurate but has more input to make better evaluations. I'll watch 2 or 3 games and highlights films but no way I think I'm smarter than the people that put in the time. Also a lot of people use PFF for much of their view. PFF has some input but you just can't use that for perspective. It's funny to me that Dane rates a player at 49 and then some pundits think they are 25 valued. Some may very well put in the time but it's hard to figure out who is guessing and who actually does it. I keep everyone's opinions at bay but trust a few over most other people. I think the bears are more in on some of their own players than most of the fandom. Example, they will count on Turner much more than fans that write him off because he was injured. So when I evaluate I figure what they have and who they might pick.

Dexter Lawrence?
This rumor is false, we did not contact the Giants. It was started by a Packers fan trolling the fandom. Lots brought in to it.
-
Dexter Lawrence?
There are better options. Good against the run? The Giants' defense struggled against the run with him in the lineup. Sacks? Pressure? He had 1/2 of a sack last year. Questions about his conditioning and motor. Doesn't sound like someone I would invest big bucks and draft capital for.

Roster Construction
Never thought of watching last year draft. Good idea. I think unless a top 20 player drops, we trade back for that extra top 100 pick. Basically 20 to 75 are all in the same talent scope. Now some will emerge and some won't pan out. Poles could draft a player at 57 that could be top 40 value, stuff like that. It's about identifying talent and by last year results is looking like they know what their doing. Do not count out Turner, Hyppolite, or Frazier. I think Newman has already shown some talent to maybe be a starter when our IOL move on. Also players like Dushon Wright, Demarco Jackson, Walker, Theo, McFadden all contributed with no expectations.
-
Roster Construction
Also remember that as much as Poles talked about BPA, he also very clearly has position targets. I rewatched the Bears post draft video again recently and there’s a clip from in the draft room where he talks about how a trade down gives them the extra picks to address LB, DB, RB, and G day three, which is exactly what they end up doing. Now we don’t know what his targets will be, but that suggests that will be as much of a driver as pure BPA.

The Beast Draft Guide
Many people think his is the most prolific draft guide. He's not 100% perfect but he gives you lots of information that gives you a good look at prospects. I looked at his top 100 and unless players like Theinaman, Faulk drop we will probably stay at 25 but I totally think when we didn't get the comp pick, we will be trading back. Lots of good players of need in the second round range. I think S, DE, CB and DT are in play. Drop back and Young, Lawrence, and Jacas are in play. After the first 2 Ss, Stukes, Bud Clark and Kilgore are in play late in that round. I think DT will be scheme fit over NT types . Those are in third round territory. Halton, Kaleb Proctor, Zane Durant and Rene Konga
