  2. Poles has been very good at several things. (in no order) 1) Having the guts to do the teardown, trade Roquan etc. It's not like there was any real risk to it, but he had to know wed suck for a couple years. 2) Trading out of the #1 pick in 2023. He couldnt have been sure that we'd end up with Caleb, but there are at least four QBs from last years draft that are better than Young. Sure he could have seen the crystal ball on Stroud, but then again with all the picks he got, and to still end up with a shot at several good QBs - it was the right move. 3) Cutting Justin Fields loose. For me that was a no brainer, but there were a LOT of people saying the other way, so he had the balls to do it. 4) Hiring BEn Johnson and his staff - lots of great names in there, lots of youth, experience, players - looks really good. 5) Being cap disciplined. I know he knows what to do from his KC days, and he has stayed on with the plan. He's made some poor talent evaluations too, and keeping Eberflus was... well yeah. But in terms of knowing the plan and sticking to it he's been really good. Now comes the tough part - player evaluations. No one is perfect, but he needs to start hitting a bunch of home runs in a row. Let's see how this draft shakes out.
  3. no doubt, adam is awesome with his contributions - love all those stats. seriously, I think this board is the best place for Bears content. it beast the hell out of ESPN and all those types. I learn more here.
  4. It's rabbit holes. I look something up really quick, and it leads me to something else. Good for trivia, because it makes me remember stuff. Kevin Carter is now forever ingrained in my head as the last Sack Leader to win a Super Bowl.
  5. Today
  6. Poles lined this up right for the cap. We are paying our 3 starting WRs the same as Garrett Wilson for the next 3 yrs.
  7. I have to give you cudos for all the time you put in for deep dive facts. You dont get enough credit for that. With stats our 4 DL sack totals for each individual is between 8-10 sacks. we have an excellent chance at a top 15 pass rush
  8. Garrett Wilson just signed an extension paying him $32.5M AAV, so basically the same as Moore+Odunze combined, making him the 5th highest WR in the NFL. Crazy.
  9. Also, it's a team game with individual stats. So there are numerous ways to measure success. If you just look at raw stat leaders, the only player that finished 1st in a standard category that played in the Super Bowl was Saquon, who led the NFL in carries and rushing yards. Top Passing stats: Burrow and Jackson. Top Receivers: Chase, St. Brown, and Jefferson. Most INTs: Joseph and McKinney. Most tackles: Franklin and Baker. How about most sacks? Hendrickson (9-8 team) and Garrett (3-14 team). Interestingly enough, of the top 4 teams, the ones that played in the AFC and NFC Championship games (BUF, KC, WAS, PHI), not a single one had a player in the top 10 in sacks. Fowler-WAS had 10.5, Sweat-PHI had 8.0, Karlaftis-KC had 8.0, and Rousseau-BUF also had 8.0. So one team, had one player with double-digit sacks and finished tied for 12th in the NFL. To extend this sack thought further, in the last 35 seasons (1990-2024), there have only been 3 players to lead the league in sacks and play in the SB. So 3/70 (4.2%), and only one player won the Super Bowl (Kevin Carter) - 1.4%. So that is so bad that you would actually prefer not to have the league leader in sacks on your team if you want to go to or win the Super Bowl.
  10. You are spot on. Poles made lots of changing over this last offseason. Law of averages will dictate a miss or two. But lets say Dayo only gets 7 sacks but high level of pressures? It that a miss, I think not. Jackson will absoultey upgrade RG, if he doesnt make the pro bowl, not a mistake. If Jarret is only 75% of who he use to be? I think we have to look at ths as a whole. Dexter and Sweat will play better because those players are there. The OL will take a giant step forward even if Jackson is just average. I think Poles has put together a winning team, no matter how each individual fails or succeeds.
  11. Nah, ultimately they hated the Dayo and Jarrett signings, and the Jackson trade. So those were so negative, that they weighed down on everything else. Jackson played some Center for the Rams and was not used the same way that he was in Detroit. Jarrett wasn't even a Wave 1 signing. So Dayo is the only question mark, but the 49ers can trade for Bryce Huff, who had fewer sacks than Dayo in 2024, yet their spin on that is much different: "San Francisco also made a win-win trade for Bryce Huff, giving up a Day 3 pick for the former Jets and Eagles pass rusher." So the Bears can't bet on Dayo's potential because the pressures are there, but the 49ers can trade for a guy and it is spun as a positive, lmao. Yeah not bias at all lol: "The 49ers suffered significant losses in free agency -- Aaron Banks, Charvarius Ward, Jaylon Moore, Talanoa Hufanga and Dre Greenlaw -- but I thought most of these departures made sense for the team."
  12. absoultely agree with everything you said. I like GM thats why Im in FF every year.
  13. Swifty is a homer but I totally agree with a lot of what he says.
  14. I like your list much better from hers. I like her a lot but she was doubling and tripling down saying we were moving up to draft Jeanty. I never thought that was going to happen. Now if he fell to us, I would say 70% chance we would of taken him. She started out # 10 on her list was Warren, he should not even be on the list. I would put OL 3rd but you absolutely got the first 4 right. The bad OL last year cost us a winning season even with bad coaching we have enough offense to win 9 games.
  15. So true, the personalities that I like left. Rich Eisen, Dan Patrick, Collin Coward. Also lots of NFL personalities have been from both coasts and clearly can see bias in their broadcasts.
  16. Did ESPN after alternatives? Who was the better HC candidate we should have signed? Better DC? Better OC? Better LG? Better RG? Better TE maybe they preferred Warren?
  17. I think Courtney Cronin is smart and gets it. Shes one of the best in my opinion. When she's on some of these other podcasts, like with Pat the Designer, she has to play along, but I feel like sometimes shes thinking "what the hell am I doing here?" I haven't watched much of this yet, and I get why the exercise is good - it promotes conversation - but Im not really into top 10 lists anyway. I feel like the whole team is connected, and weakest links are the problem? So maybe a top 5 positions on the Bears that we are worried about list would be my style LOL For me that'd be: 1) Pass Rush 2) LT 3) HB 4) Safeties, especially depth 5) WR3 But most important would be a mix of biggest concerns and necessary leaders So off the top of my head, and I havent seen Courtney's list at all, so maybe I am in line with it, and maybe not I dunno: Most Important Bears 1) Caleb Williams - I know you agree - we cant go any further than he can take us. And this is a critical year for him. 2) Ben Johnson - he has to set the entire culture for the team, he is also super important 3) Dennis Allen - he has to get the defense in shape 4) The OL - I mean all of them. 5) WR1 - Rome should step up and claim the title, but if not, then DJ has to be it, but we need a guy easily over 1,000 yards 6) The DL - you cant beat good teams without a pass rush 7) The secondary - they have been great, but they are obviously very important 8- RB1 9) Colston Loveland - he will be a huge part of the team, and he can make himself important by balling out, if he has a slow start the team can still survive that, so he's less important now, but if he is a stud, he becomes very important 10) LBers - Tremaine Edmunds can step up (like I said about Loveland) or he can become irrelevant, but TJ Edwards is important!
  18. They can kiss my ass. ESPN went from sports journalism and reporting to woke politics. They are anti white and anti conservative. I only tune in when there is a game I want to see.
  19. Yesterday
  20. I like to hope we still would have skipped QJ. That said, Im not sure Burden isnt a head case too. He gives me Claypool vibes. I hope Ben Johnson and Antwan Randle El can get him right.
  21. True, just glad he wasn't there when the Bears picked Burden.
  22. Yeah, it is all hot takes now. Yep, and it is pretty obvious.
  23. Dont there broadcasts come with the East and LA? Constant bias.
  24. hes just a pounder anyway. I think RJ can do everything QJ can.
  25. they are fools. OR theyre smart and looking for clicks not the truth? either way it's as trashy as the national enquirer. same with PFF. but i dont care - the games are won and lost on the field, and Im so sick of winning the offseason. I used to love the hype, but it has gotten me sick so many times, I just cant anymore. I have no patience for it, whether its pro Bears or anti Bears. I want us to dominate - THAT will be fun.
