  2. I don't think he's involved in any personal decisions. Once they brought Warren in, it walled off the family. When Poles makes decisions he uses Warren as his sounding board. I don't get the impression Poles is a answer to guy. He makes the decisions and Warren gets his input. They are low on picks and at nine they will get a WR that drops or take the best DE in the draft. I think Verse more fits the true DE position, so if he can drop a few stops and still add a 3 rd round pick, then grabs Verse. In the third with two picks they can grab a WR and OL. I don't think LOT will be in play because of the progress of Braxton. Not saying he's going to be top 10 but close enough to keep him. If you have a QB that has a quick release, better vision, and good pocket awareness, that will make a 15-18 ranked LT will be acceptable. After the draft they may be able to shore up depth with cuts by other teams.
  3. Just read an article in The Atlantic, talking about how this Bears era feels different. When I saw the headline, I got the happy feeling vibe. When I started reading, I got the same old McCaskey family vibe. George talked about how he was at the combine when Poles and Flus met with Caleb. Of course, good ol George had to say that he stayed in the back of the room and kept his mouth shut. My question is, why the hell are you there in the first place? Warren wasn't there. Why does George need to be? He says all the time that it's Ryan and Matt's job. I just don't like any McCaskey being involved in talent conversations or acquisitions. Just stay the hell out of it. It's crazy, I like what George had to say about Caleb and Poles and Flus, but just couldn't stand it coming from him. It just shouldn't have, given our history of them F'ing things up. Just be an owner George, you know nothing about the rest of it.
  4. I'm so new to this rule, I must be missing something. Why is muffing less of a problem now? Isn't it still a fumble?
  5. Yesterday
  6. This is perfect for Velus because he can muff the kick without any real risk of a turnover. Also, I think he would have more confidence knowing he wasn't going to immediately get hit after catching the ball. With his speed and shiftiness, he could be a secret weapon on these new kickoffs.
  7. The only thing I hate about this new rule, is that I'm going to have to explain it to everyone I talk to...🤯
  8. https://nfltraderumors.co/2024-nfl-draft-prospect-visit-tracker/ Here is a visit tracker that has more names on the list.
  9. I believe the next known meeting is the "Top 30" one scheduled where Williams (so far not Daniels) and others will come to Halas Hall. I have read elsewhere that speculation is that McCarthy may get an invite too. So far the list only has three players listed on it but obviously will grow more in the coming days.
  10. Pix, thanks. I absolutely hated this when I first heard about it but have come around. It’s putting the return game back in play but with hopefully fewer injuries and penalties. Kickoffs have been boring as hell for too long.
  11. I actually like chicagobears.com's article on the new kickoff rules better. It shows a graphic of the field, breaking down the various areas and possible alignments of players. It was much easier for me to visualize what we could expect. New rules passed for 2024 NFL season https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1772612546467369005?s=20
  12. Yea that's what interesting.. I know the Bears were there, but the fact that they were not meeting with him is interesting. Wonder if they are doing a secrete meeting with someone, as I don't think they have had a meeting with Williams either.. or have they?
  13. We have a big arrow pointing up and if CW is that guy, we will be in many SBs going forward .
  14. Cool short clip of Allen doing his part and going to work. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C49bt-xMiro/?igsh=MWVpYXk1b2R6dnowbw==
  15. WOW, Adam Schein, I love you! 🥰 If you want a feel-good article about the Bears, this is ace! Check out the link below and shout a BEAR DOWN! With Caleb Williams making magic, Chicago Bears will be NFL's Cinderella team of 2024
  16. There was no mention of the Bears, but I did read elsewhere that Flus was one of the many HCs present. I'm not sure who else from the Bears attended. Still, the Bears are not listed among the scheduled visits. Interesting.
  17. This is an excellent article on which Bear players might benefit from the new rule changes. I was surprised there was no speculation on Dante Pettis. I know he was a punt returner, but with the new rules, would he be a possible kick returner? I don't recall him taking any reps as a KO returner but he might be a sleeper? 18. This is interesting. https://x.com/rapsheet/status/1773012995896926413?s=46&t=y8KKc_ixHFBLIoj8KLFAzA
  19. With both teams looking up within ten yards, schemes and execution will be imperative. Hit one hole and run downhill. This could be fun.
  20. I thought in 2022 that I saw Fields beat guys in the open field all the time. I agree he doesnt have wiggle, but he was able to abruptly change his line and accelerate and it seemed to be really hard to stop. Not so much of a juker as a cutter. But back in reality, who is our kick returner? Scott?
  21. Fields has speed but not a lot of wiggle. Neither does Patterson for that matter. It's guys like Hester that are so damn slippery when they cut without losing speed.
  22. I'm not sure how it's going to play out. I can imagine there will be a lot more trick plays like reverses and throwbacks. It does basically kill the trick onside play, which is good because you get can get way too much value for a fluke. If you think your team is the stronger one, you dont want or need surprise onside kicks. The good news is that apparently our own ST coach Hightower was one of the people pushing hardest for it, so he might have some stuff in mind about how to game this best. We need a real kick returner now. I don't want Velus again. Maybe someone with a good arm who can throw to the other side, and runs really well in the open field. Damn! We shoulda kept Fields! LOL (yeah I'm kidding, he'd never agree to be just a kick returner, and if he did, he'd be too expensive for that role. Hed probably be great at it though. I always thought of him as similar to Hester)
  23. Ah too bad. Thanks for telling me. I agree with Pix, we definitely need one!
  24. Last week
  25. The Iowa punter is a total stud - but I'm not using a top 4 round pick on him and reality is unless we buy a late round pick somehow, I don't see a scenario where any punter we pick will be anything but an undrafted guy. But I do agree - we need some real competition - either to help our punter get better and push him or to replace our current punter.
  26. I am excited - boring to watch a bunch of touch backs. I liked what the Steelers did bringing in Cordelle Patterson (ex Bear) too. I also think this could be a positive as Velus is pretty athletic so maybe this helps him be a bit more valuable.
  27. XFL. But I still want to see it with NFL caliber athletes.
