That Dexter is lighter is a strong signal that they are committed to him as a 3T. Im looking forward to see what he becomes.

I think someone mentioned Davis was not there. Flus said he will be at the attendance required OTAs. TBH lineman arent muched involved in these type of practices.

The Bears were all in Odunze, they even had odds at each pick for him to be at 9. They were willing to trade up, losing a 1st or 2nd rounder for him. They were all in on DE Booker too. They were ready to trade a future 4th and 6th and got him for only the 4th.

As close as Flus and Poles are, it will take a meltdown. Poles has now put together a near all star caliber team of coaches and players, so the excuses have shifted from being on him(GM) to HC to get the team to execute. For me, if he doesn't take easy points (FG) early and goes for a 1st down or TD, it puts him on notice. Do it a couple times and the team finishes average can be enough to find a new HC that understands that you have to take the given points unless you are already blown out.

I think Flus is part of the plan that Poles has looking forward if he had any negative thoughts about Flus, he had the perfect time last year to do it. Flus would have to have a losing record for that even come up this year and see no way of that happening. Now if Caleb is the reason for us being 8-9 compared to 10-7 , I dont think Poles holds that against him but if the defense fails and chaos on the offense , then of course that's on the table. Since I'm predicting 12-5, obviously i dont think that happens. I rewatched the draft vidio the Bears put out and noticed Ian told Poles when Rome was available at 9, we got our one and two. Was Rome the #2 player on our draft board? No QBs were there and they may have had him rated higher than MHJ due to his intangables. He may have been. Two OTs went before us and they may have not considered it because of Braxton.

Keenan Allen, it was his wife's bday and also a daughters I think. I am not too worried about him missing the OTA. He and all the players have been in house doing the off season workouts. Rome Odunze - he has a hamstring and missed the practice. Gervon Dexter - not sure what his reason was, but Flus is impressed with his work all offseason “I noticed the body composition first,” Eberflus said. “[Dexter] was really good. He changed his body in the time he was off. He’s quicker, leaner.”

When they mentioned that Caleb had a rough day, they also said he was missing two WRs and two OLs. Now, I know it isn't unusual for players to miss OTAs. However, I was hoping for a solid turnout. The WRs need to continue developing chemistry with Caleb, and the OL needs to mesh as a unit with a new center yet to be named. Does anyone know who skipped the OTA and the reasons for their absence?

The rumor can be true, however, it seems to be more like this: Worker at Halas Hall - tells Phil that he never saw Flus and Getsy speak to each other. What that guy doesn't tell Phil or Phil doesn't ask, how often are you around them, are you in meetings, or behind closed doors? So it may have been a public thing, which I could see. Maybe they didn't like each other and if that is the case, I could see that too. Either way, this is going to be a telling season for Flus. I don't know if he is on the hot seat, but of all the coaches, staff, and players, he is probably the closest to being on the hot seat. I would say that order goes: Flus, Davis, Braxton, Edmunds, and Herbert.

Also, the Eagles defense is a lot different than the Titans, so he was basically playing at half speed. I really like him and think he will be a pleasant surprise on defense. All he has to do is play average and it will be a massive upgrade from Jackson. Also, if you remember a few years ago, Jackson was basically telling rookies that they didn't need to worry about tackling. Byard is clearly not like that. He fits in well with Brisker and the rest of the secondary. I would not be surprised if they extend him to allow the team to address other positions in 2025's draft.

if it was clickbait, theyd have put it into a headline, or lead with it or made it the story. Instead, it was a minor aside in the middle of another discussion, and he was hesitant to share it, but it was just some evidence about a point he was making. I agree with adam, and I take it as a rumor. but that doesnt mean it isnt true. You guys can believe it or dismiss it, it's all good. The main point is that his film breakdowns are amazing, pre draft and during the season. And in that case you dont have to take anyones word for it, you can see with your own eyes and evaluate whether you see it that way too or not.

Watch highlights on Byard, he's a dude, gtear against the run and has 28 ints. People look at his time in PHILLY, HE GOT TRADES DURING THE YEAR, was the D leader on the Titans and had to come to a disfunctional D . Just didnt fit in.

I was making the habit of seeing something on X and would post it trying to be first, now unless I see it several places I dont put much faith in the info. Since this is a new regime, 2 years 4 months, you either have to know someone that works there or beat reporters that are in the house a lot that make relationships. Example, Brad Biggs that's been around a long time. He does very little in way of postings unknown content so when he does say something I believe him. Most Bears media j post a lot of ( inside info) that is trying to get clicks.

So a few points First off Adam, thanks for that, I will look into it. Secondly, yes he is incredibly defensive and fights with twitter people and all that a lot. It's his worst attribute. I can totally see why no one wanted to keep him at Bears barroom. But to Stingers question - he doesnt say he is an insider, he just reports stuff. And I think that other beat writers hear what he hears too, but they know when to say things and when to keep it quiet so they can maintain access. Phil isnt invited to the press conferences etc. so he has less to lose. As to this rumor (and I agree, Adam, thats how I take them too) it is interesting that he decided to say anything, and kind of did it after asking his sidekick Shayne "should I say this?" without it being a headline or clickbait or anything. He just said it in the middle of the show and quickly moved past it. If he was making it up for clicks, hed have made something more of it than an incidental comment buried in the middle of the show. And to Mongo's point - yes this is the worst time of year for them. Theyre great with tape. They shine pre draft when they break down players, and mid season when they break down game film. At this time of year, they are really boring and it's all ego and very little info. I put it on when Im falling asleep, whereas a couplke months ago, id watch it much more closely. I just thought the rumor was interesting. But yes, my recommendation to try them out would be in season for all 22 game film, or pre draft. Right now is all boring.

Poles said he is a multiplier, just like Keenan Allen. It would be great if they can get Allen to do an extension to basically set a 2 year window. If Byard can get Gordan, Stevenson, and Brisker to that higher level and Coach Washington and Montez Sweat can get the Dline elevated, I believe we will see a dominant team. We get to play the team whose door we need to break down, SF to be the NFCs best as long as we take care of the division.

Regardless, I am sure he still provides some great breakdowns, he clearly knows what he is talking about on the tape. It is hard for me to take what he says about rumors seriously though. Not that he is not correct, or that he doesn't actually have inside info, but if it sounds sensational, I tend to just leave it there as a rumor.

I am glad this is happening and it would be a bad look for the defense if a rookie QB is carving them up this early in the offseason. I hope it is a battle for him all offseason and he just shows the growth we have wanted to see from the previous drafted QBs. Byard is going to be a better addition than most expect. Jackson was terrible and predictable. Byard can play both FS and SS, so they can get more exotic in their pre snap coverage looks than they could in the past.

He has recovered a lot since then, but man, when it happened, it was UG LEE. There are a lot of links about it on Google. He basically deleted whatever Twitter Accounts he had, went dark, then came back online a few years later like nothing happened. He has done a good job since that point but if you witnessed it, it is hard to unsee it. He posted good video breakdowns, but for some odd reason, any negative comment would set him off. Then he would swap to his burner accounts and attack the other person. To the point where he was doxxing people from the burner accounts to discredit them. It was sooo bizarre. Once I say that, he lost all credibility with me.

I loved listening to new FS Byard. He is adding wrinkles to the D and was asked if this was asked by Flus to add. He said, no, this is my experience. This was about getting the DBs to better disguise coverages to confuse offenses. The D told Caleb they want him to be good and this is where it happens. Caleb showed his mental toughness by not getting flustered. The team is hungry and there to be great.

Me too, I'm on the hype train. I like that Poles doesnt have an ego and listens to everyones opinion.

He's not walking off the bus and looking like an all pro. All of this is a learning process. I want him looking good in September, not worried about May. A top 5 defense is good for his learning process.
