I know I am concerned about the Bears offense, but league-wide, offensive numbers are down across the board. Check out some of these stats thru 2 weeks: 300-yard Passing Games thru 2 weeks: 2024: 5 2023: 13 2022: 13 2021: 21 2020: 16 2019: 20 2018: 19 2017: 13 2016: 20 Red zone passing TDs thru 2 weeks: 2024: 40 2023: 67 2022: 74 2021: 71 2020: 79 2019: 56 2018: 69 2017: 57 2016: 64 So as bad as Williams has been numbers-wise, they look a lot better considering what the rest of the league is doing too.

Caleb Williams is now 70th on the Bears all-time passing list. He just passed the likes of Jason Campbell, Henry Burris, and Moses Moreno. Up next is passing Sweetness, Red Grange, and Doug Flutie. D'Andre Swift is 220th in rushing yards, and at his current yards per game, would only need 41 seasons of 17 games to surpass Walter Payton's 16,726 rushing yards. The Bears have 4 more games before their Week 7 early season bye. 3 home games and the only road game is 3 hours away in Indy. There may not be an easier stretch of games all year. The combined record of the 4 teams is 0-8. @ IND 0-2 (Richardson is boom or bust, plays into Bears strengths on defense, weakest defense faced so far potentially missing Buckner) vs LAR 0-2 (decimated with injuries, no Kupp or Puka, -37 Pts Diff) vs CAR 0-2 (just benched Young, have been outscored by 60 pts in 2 games) vs JAX 0-2 (might be 0-5 or 1-4 by the time the Bears play them with HOU, BUF, and IND up next) The Bears really need to go into their bye 5-1, at worst 4-2.

I have no idea why he was kept on the staff, but when every Offensive Lineman that leaves improves, there is only one common denominator. I wish this was satire, but somehow guys like Lucas Patrick (who was the worst OL player in the NFL last year magically becomes the best OG in the NFL in one offseason?). This is definitely a much better opponent for the Bears this early in the season. Indy is 0-2 and is the worst rush defense in the league by a pretty wide margin. They will also more than likely be without Buckner at DT. Richardson has connected on a few bombs but if the Bears take that away, he is prone to mistakes with 4 INTs on 53 attempts and only a 49% Comp%. If the Bears defense can stop Taylor and prevent anything to get behind them, this is a much more advantageous matchup than against HOU. We drive down the field with no effective running game and Caleb doing great. Get to the red zone and run twice and then try a slow developing pass for a sack. Not ok.

I am glad Fields is winning, but because the Steelers defense is playing so good (16 pts allowed in 2 games), no one really knows how Fields is actually playing. Prime Time Game, on the road. Hard to see anyway the Bears win this but Indy did give HOU fits all game and kept it close. I hope the defense can continue it's solid play but if they allowed 17 to TEN then that is probably high 20s to HOU. The offense has to play better all around. Stick to the run game, get Kmet involved, and more presnap motion. This was always a loss for me, so I will say HOU 27-20.

The reason Im even posting is to comment on Mercedes Lewis being in there. At 40 years old, he still has some use in the red zone where he doesnt have to run 40 yards, and he is a good blocker. But there is a reason beyond those few snaps that we kept him and lost Bates to develop, and that he is a captain, even as a third string player. Yes, I remember the pain of Moses Moreno, Steve Stenstrom and Jonathan Quinn (among others) Hopefully, Caleb Williams is the guy that will finally give us the QB we've been looking for and deserve after 75 years of failure at the position Excited to see how everything plays out. With 16 slots, it will be interesting to see how many outside players they sign. The Bears didn't claim anyone on the waiver wire, so all the external signings will technically be free agents.

This one surprises me because I thought he was a lock. I guess with the Borom injury they need someone who can play OT as well, that seems to be Bill Murray.

Darrell Taylor. Has 21.5 sacks in the last 3 years, and 15 over the last 2. Feels like a poor man's Ngakoue. $3.1M cap hit. Low risk. 6th rounders rarely make an NFL roster, so I really don't care too much about 6th and 7th rounders if you can get guys who make the 53-man roster for them. Taylor looks like one of them.

This is a glorious day to be a Bears fan. They defeated the SB champs handily, very close to an ass whooping, and they did it starting almost all players 3rd round or later while KC was running former 1st and 2nd rounders out there. The Bears end the preseason with a +68 points differential in 3.5 games. That is crazy. They scored 20+ pts and 3 TDs in every game. The defense has multiple TDs in less than 4 games. This would not matter if the Bears had weak starters, but both units look like they are top 10-15. With all the positives, there are still some concerns.
