Didn't know where to put this but I reckon it doesn't hurt to start a new thread... Biggsy was responding to some tweets about draft needs and here's a couple that stood out.... Brad Biggs @BradBiggs 2 Jan @MB10_10 I think there are greater needs, specifically interior O-line and backup TE Brad Biggs @BradBiggs 2 Jan @ChadBudd88 G and backup TE make more sense to me. No need for a developmental QB right now with QB on a 7 yr deal. Not pressing need anyway First tweet merely said interior O-line, not singling out OC, then the next one says straight up G as a draft need, didn't even add the word backup. I didn't hear the presser…

Reading a Q&A w/ Matt Mosley, who is a local guy for the Cowgirls, and knows the Eagles well, he was asked to name 3 weaknesses for Phily. His response, Chris Gocong is playing out of position at MLB, so he's thinking too much rather than reacting right now...Moise Fokou is a rookie starting on the strong-side. That's a mistake waiting to happen...And the Eagles don't have enough bodies in the secondary. When you have Dimitri Patterson covering Antonio Gates one-on-one late in a game, you have big-time problems. If their MLB is a weak spot, I hope to see a lot of (a) slants and ( more Forte receptions. If their SLB is a rookie, and struggling, that …

I got to coach a 5-6 grade football game against Roosevelt Colvin. His son looks just like him. We won 30-13.

For the draftniks out there I thought this might be worth reading. The article breaks down performance trends versus draft position. For example, OTs drafted in slots 1-13 have the highest success rate of being a 5yr starter at 94%, and a bit surprising to me LB is right behind them at 90%. . http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Diggin...babilities.html

Bears can pull the plug on Peppers after one year Posted by Mike Florio on March 8, 2010 11:07 PM ET We mentioned earlier tonight some of the details relating to the Julius Peppers deal. We've picked up some more information about the contract, and it's now clear that if the Bears clean house after the 2010 season, it'll be easier for the new regime to bid Peppers adieu. As Peter King of SI.com pointed out this afternoon, Peppers gets $20 million in 2010 (all but a $100,000 workout bonus is guaranteed). But the $22 million in guaranteed money that he's due to receive in 2011 and 2012 is guaranteed for injury only. This means that the Bears can decide after…

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...ver-four-years/ Forte deal has base value of $30.4 million over four years Posted by Mike Florio on July 19, 2012, 12:58 AM EDT AP Bears running back Matt Forte previously said he doesn’t need to be the highest-paid running back in the NFL. And that’s a good thing. Because his new deal puts him far from it. On one hand, Forte will be paid handsomely. On the other hand, multiple other running backs have better deals, including the franchise-tagged running back from Baltimore who signed a new deal later in the same day Forte got paid. Initially reported as a four-year, $32 million contract on Monday,…

So maybe it's slow and I'm looking for something, anything Bears related. Saw this speculative report (below) about the Bears looking at FA Evan Mathis (I'm for the 'no thanks' category). But what caught my attention was that the Bears are $8.1 million BELOW the cap at this point. That is with something like 90 players currently on the roster right? Seems pretty incredible. Of course I k is there are a few that need contract upgrades but still, seems pretty impressive. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0623-story.html

LM: Why did the Bears chose to keep Rashied Davis and Devin Aromashodu ahead of Brandon Rideau? JA: Rashied has a role on this football team. He could be a good slot receiver if we chose to play him in the slot. He also has tremendous value has a special teams player. That in itself is why he has value to our football team. If you’re not one of the top three receivers, four, five and six have to be the best special teams players. So he’s got a real value for our team. Brandon was a close call. Obviously, we liked Devin Aromashodu a little bit better, and we’ll see if our assessment of our receivers was accurate. LM: Jay Cutler didn’t hide the fact that he felt A…

Couple interesting interviews. The first was Mully & Hanley interviewing Warren Sapp. Now, people can say what they want about Sapp, but he knows Lovie (played for him) and knows the system. Further, the following comments, according to Sapp, stem not just from watching the game, but from watching film of the game. Sapp starts out talking about the type of protection Tenn is using, and goes on to basically rip the bears for the way the rushed the passer. He flat out said it was like Chicago never watched tape, and didn't game plan to attack the type of blocking scheme Tenn uses. I think he even took it another step, saying you really couldn't see much of a…

The newest Bear, running back Kevin Jones, showed up sporting arms bigger than former Bears backfield standout Thomas Jones. Kevin Jones said he is ready to play now coming off ACL surgery, but the Bears are likely to start him on the physically unable to perform list. … http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...,0,636028.story Thomas Jones had tree trunks for arms-

I found this article rather interesting. Really shows you just how good Donald was at getting in the backfield, and how Jernigan should be looked at as more of run stuffer than a 3 tech. http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/cfb/4665...k-dt-metrics-10 With Houston potentially, or perhaps likely, moving inside on passing downs I wouldn't totally be against taking Jernigan, but I still would love Donald. Wish they would have analysed more.

While most of us are all about DE, S, CB, QB, there hasn't been much talk about OLB as a selection. 1. Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson 2. TJ Watt, OLB, Wisconsin 3. Cooper Kupp, WR, EWU 4. Justin Evans, S, TX A&M 4. Rasul Douglas, CB, WVU 5. George Kittle, TE, Iowa 7. Mack Hollins, WR, UNC Read his rationale here. I don't like doubling up on WR, but that's a different take than we've been seeing lately.

The Sun Times and Tribune both had articles in today's paper talking about our secondary. Three things that were news: 1. Peanut Tillman is staying at cornerback (Not exactly breaking news, but it stops the rumors of him going to fs) 2. Danieal Manning is staying at nickel-back, not free safety (this is different then what Smith had said before) 3. Craig Steltz is penciled in as the starter at free safety with Payne at SS. First, this tells me our cornerback position is pretty damn strong. D Manning looked really good at nickel-back. We're hoping Vasher can return to form, and he'll be battling with Corey Graham who was pretty damn good last year. T…
