After both retired, Tunney asked Butkus about his zest for violence. " I always called him Richard. I asked him, ‘Richard, did you ever intentionally try to hurt somebody?’ “He said, ‘Nah, not unless it was in a game or something.’” From a story https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2019/12/12/21005035/fumble-pile-violence-nfl-stories Why I love watching football. Always viewed it as contact ballet. It's the grace of a WR or a running back. An OF line or DF player on one hand wanting to pile drive the other yet be so graceful as to just make them pound air. Such a violent yet graceful game. And then you add the chess like strategy.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001106246/article/nfl-player-vote-ratifies-new-cba-through-2030-season It's going to increase the salary cap but we also add 2 players to the roster....55 now which I think is good. I don't know if they will increase the game day roster because that's something else I'd like to see since we are moving to a 17 game schedule. Anything we can do to reduce snap count for players during a long season is a good thing IMO. Plus it would make it easier to get a backup OG some game time snaps when a game is in control in the 4th quarter. With such a limited active roster teams usually only have two backup Oline active on game day. …

I think it is a good decision as he will only get better and if another team wants him, they will have to pay him AND give us a 2nd round pick.

As we know, the national media or even our local media have not been very high on this team. Some preseason predictions had us winning 3-8 games, which we have already exceeded some of those predictions by Week 5. However, there is something else going on. The media pointed to a weak schedule for our record but have not used the same reasoning for teams that are very similar to us through this week. Check out these teams and how much different they are rated than us in power rankings. 1. First we have BUF. They are top 5 in most rankings. On NFL.com they are #4. Here is their breakdown: BUF 4-0 (beat NYJ, MIA, LAR, LV = 6 combined wins), 2 wins by 3 or less, all…

Going into the final week of the regular season, we still have 9 teams vying for 6 playoff spots, a very competitive year. So far Run Dem Pockets (1), The Bunny (2), Corona Kings (3), and SAVAGEw/LOOSEMORALS! (4) have clinched a playoff berth. That leaves the following teams competing for the last two playoff spots in the final week of the regular season: 5. The Mad Lithuanians* (technically they are in barring some crazy scores since they have the Pts For Tie Breaker against any of the remaining teams) 6. MotM 7. PapaBear 8. Nopper 9. Nips&Tips Even though Victorious Secret has been eliminated, they are on a 2-game win streak, trying to end th…

Hey Guys, So, this weekend we will all probably watch more than one game. When you do, pay attention to the rhythm of the other teams you watch. Notice how they gain momentum. They may not convert third downs and have to punt, but they look like they know what they're doing. In short, they look professional. We watch the Bears. Probably 85% of the games I watch are Bears games. I see the opponent for sure, but I see them in the context of this crazy rhythmless game. When I watch any other teams go at it, they may be bad teams, they may make bad decisions or plays, but you can feel the structure around them. The Bears never have that. And this is what coachi…

The Bears have 3 picks in the first 83. It would be really nice to trade back at some point and pick up a 4th, then get 4 of the top 100 prospects from these positions (2x OT, WR, CB).

As usual, I'm serious about this. The Bears would be better off just going with Alabama and/or SEC players instead of trying to outsmart everyone. First step: Trade back, and pick up an extra pick. To make this easy, let's say the Bears get another 2nd and that's it. 1st - Christian Barmore (DT) Alabama - Too good to pass up, sets up multiple possibilities, insurance for Goldman as well 2nd - Alex Leatherwood (OT/OG) Alabama - Starts immediately. 2nd - Kellen Mond (QB) Texas A&M - QB of the future. 3rd - Dylan Moses (LB) Alabama - I don't care about the injury; he's a monster. 5th - LaBryan Ray (DE) Alabama - I think he could be …

I keep hearing about the teams with the best spots for a rookie QB, and I understand there are a bunch of factors that go into that, but at the end of the day it comes down to the core skill position players with the ball in their hands. I know coaching, scheme, O-Line, defense, and even opponents all factor into this, but it is hard for me to look at the 5 teams with 1st Round rookies and not like the position the Bears are in from a skill position standpoint. I added on extra player per roster, and for the Bears could've chosen Byrd or Goodwin, but went with Cohen. Bears Justin Fields WR1 Robinson WR2 Mooney RB1 Montgomery RB2 Williams TE1 Kmet T…

I just got an email saying I have tickets for pre-season. It's for August 7th. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll see if I can transfer them. Says I can't forward them until the day before so I don't want to try and mess things up, but worth a chance if your interested. Electronic only and I live in Cali'. First come. But don't get your hopes up.

1-2, 10 yds. Throws to first read into triple coverage on completion. Lucky it wasn't intercepted and the receiver almost got blown up. Instead of letting him air it out, they protect him and run more than pass while Trubisky was in. That was embarrassing, and against the Lions no less.

I love listening to Riddick and hope at some point he works for the Bears. Great interview. https://www.windycitygridiron.com/2021/8/16/22627833/chicago-bears-wouldnt-shocking-see-justin-fields-start-week-1-louis-riddick-rich-eisen-andy-dalton

Visited Bears training camp today with my brother and his boys. Observations: 1 - Much more like Platteville than Bourbonnais. Platteville was very laid back. Bourbonnais was was too corporate for my taste. 2 - Jaylon Johnson had 2 picks of Andy Dalton. The 2nd was beautifully timed where he jumped over the receiver on a long pass to haul it in. Dalton did have a nice throw to Allan Robinson on the sidelines. 3 - Justin Fields made a fantastic throw to Jesse James on a deep side-line route that went right over the top of the defender Charles Snowden. It really was a thing of beauty. 4 - Watched the defensive line prac…

This is going to hurt, but I am glad it is not season-ending. In other team news, it looks like they traded a 6th Round Pick for WR Jakeem Grant from Miami. He is a Return Specialist and will likely take over both the KR and PR duties with Herbert moving to RB2. Webster probably getting cut for his reluctance to even fair catch a ball last week like Ted Ginn did last year. Grant also has some speed, but until they used Goodwin and Byrd, he won't be much of an option on offense, which is fine with me.

Every year it seems the schedule provides a 1-2 game swing per season. Even with the same team, you can see the fluctuations. The Bears were 8-8 and are going to go 6-11 or 7-10 (a 1.5 to 2.5 game swing from last year) who faced one of the toughest schedules in the league. I see the same thing happening next year back to the positive. The NFC North gets the AFC East and NFC East next year. The Bears also get the extra home game next year. A bad year next year is 9 wins (DET x2, MIN, WFT, MIA, NYG, NYJ, ATL, and HOU) with other winnable games against PHI and MIN. The toughest games are obviously GB x2, BUF, NE, DAL, and SF. However, an improved Bears team should win…
