With the tough loss of Meredith, it looks like we will carry 6 WRs? 1. White 2. Wright 3. Gentry 4. Thompson --------------- 5. Cruz 6. Davis/Bellamy/Wheaton Wheaton hasn't played as far as I know, and Bellamy is also hurt. 2 QB Glennon/Trubisky 4 RB Howard/Cohen/Langford/Cunningham 4 TE Sims/Miller/Shaheen/Brown 6 WR White/Wright/Gentry/Thompson/Cruz/Davis 8 OL Whitehair/Long/Sutton/Leno/Massie/Compton/Grasu/Morgan 1 Flex (1 of Stevenson-FB/Bellamy-WR/Wheaton-WR/Braunecker-TE)

Anyone else think, despite the admitted need to focus on defense in the draft, we should nab a WR in the middle rounds? Certainly Marshall and Jeffery are great, but there's nothing but question marks behind him. At least with Earl Bennett, you knew what you were getting. Depth right now is: - Wilson, a thin and injury prone 2nd year 7th round pick with 2 career catches - Hixon, a journeyman who is at least two year removed from a year when he had any kind of impact as a WR - Weems, who had little impact as a WR and was already asked to take a paycut - Williams, a 5'8" return specialist - Bellamy and Tolliver, who have done nothing in this leage I real…

With the possibility that the Bears are not matching the offer to Meredith, I was looking at who is currently on the roster. It's pretty scary. We have a bunch of question marks and not much depth. Our #1 is coming back from an injury. Oh, so is our #2, whether it's White (zero confidence in him) or Meredith, who may not even be with the team. So our top 2-3 receivers are coming off injury. We do have a speedy slot guy. Beyond that - Josh "As long as it doesn't hit me in the hands" Bellamy, Tanner Gentry, and two guys I've never heard of - DeMarcus Ayers and Mekale McCay. I like the additions on offense this off season, but are we really in a better position …

Both Godwin and Gallup tore their ACLs in the last few weeks. The WR FA market is going to be crazy thin and overpriced. The Bears are going to need to go mid-tier so they don't break the bank on a mediocre player. Mike Williams is now the healthiest and will probably get the biggest contract.

With the latest rounds of cuts we have a WR group of Marshall, Jeffery, Bennett, Toliver, Wilson, Anderson....and Weems/Hester as extras The bold players are 6'3 and above so this will give us a few mismatches on the outside and in the red zone. So do you consider this group a strength or weakness

PFT is reporting that Andre Davis was just re-signed to a 4yr/$16m deal w/ an $8m bonus. Yes, that is right. $8m bonus. Same amount we offered Berrian. Yea, I know we offered Berrian more money overall, but if Andre Davis is going to get $8m, what the heck will a good WR get. I fear the combination of a huge salary cap jump (meaning many teams w/ huge cap dollars to spend) combined w/ a very weak crop of FA WRs, will lead to very mediocre WRs getting paid big bucks and good WRs getting ridiculous money. More than ever, I think this deals sells me that we need to sign short term solutions at WR. After that, we can (a) see if Hester/Bradley/Hass can develop (…

In talking w/ a friend, more and more, I am beginning to think our 2nd round pick will be all about WR, and rounds 3 through 6 will pretty much go defense. Others might argue our need for a FS is just as great. Some argue DL is a favorite position for Angelo, and he may want to offer Marinelli (and Lovie) some more talent. But I really am beginning to think we will draft the best available WR in round 2. We all know WR is a need, but reasons I think we will go WR beyond that. Angelo went FAR outside his comfort zone in getting Cutler. This is the sort of move that instantly (IMHO) ties a GMs fate to a single player. If Cutler booms, Angelo will be remembe…

I'm curious who teams are talking to and at NFL.com they show us having spoken with 10 players (I'm sure it's much higher than that) but on that list 5 are WRs. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000064...ayers-nfl-teams Then what traits are we looking at? Most are bigger WRs with the exception being Coleman. Devon Cajuste stood out to me because at 6'4" and 235lbs he's pretty close to what Zach Miller does for us. Reportedly Cajuste does not have the quickness needed off the line to get separation from CBs, but he has good enough speed against LBs. He'll need time to gain strength and learn blocking but he has the hands you want. He originally went to S…

Demitrius Byrd from LSU. Man, it seems like something like this happens every couple years I remember when Dennis Weathersby from Oregon Stae was shot like 3 days before the draft. Hope to see him recover. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/news/story?id=4083554

From ESPN Chicago, Talking about the first series after halftime, after Knox returned it to the 8, Turner said, "On (the) second down play, his [Cutler's] primary receiver ran the wrong route," Turner said. "So he's [Cutler] looking for a guy that's supposed to be there, who would have been wide open, so then he gets sacked." Turner refused to identify the receiver in question. "It's easy to blame the quarterback, but everybody has to execute," Turner said. "That's kind of been the story. Especially in the red zone, we seem to botch base plays we've had in, and not give ourselves a chance." Turner has taken most of the blame for the offense, bu…

Of all the position groups, this one has to be one of the most disappointing ones. Outside of Moore's god given talent, has any other player from this group done anything positive this year? Like for me, they have all been net negatives, Claypool, Mooney, Velus, and Scott. St. Brown has barely played this year so I don't even count him and his lack of availability is a negative. There was the Claypool stuff that started from the day he arrived until he left. Zero accountability both on and off the field. Then there is Velus Jones, who never developed into anything near his draft status, he basically drops passes or fumbles returns. Tyler Scott was a later draft…

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) - Rashied Davis figured there's not much more he could do to solidify his role and, for that matter, a spot on the Chicago Bears' roster. Devin Aromashodu had an idea. "I sent flowers to all the coaches, to keep me in mind," he said Tuesday. More important is staying in sight. With one preseason game left against Cleveland on Thursday, these are uncertain times for many Bears players. Particularly at wide receiver, one of the biggest question marks on a team with playoff aspirations - and where the third slot is open. Now that Jay Cutler is behind center, the Bears finally have a franchise quarterback to go with one of the game…

Slim pickings now. With Walker and Gafney gone, here is what is left: Bryan Johnson (looks like Buffalo or Washington) Reche Caldwell Drew Carter DJ Hackett Marty Booker Robert Ferguson (if we are desperate) Brandon Lloyd (would need to be a minimum contract - not sure what he brings to us) I wonder how much longer JA is going to wait to jump in. We cannot go into the draft with the 5 receivers we have now. Peace

The way I see it, there is only one certainty: Muhsin Muhammed has to either be cut, or take a backseat. Aside from that, here's what I think: -Bernard Berrian makes huge plays, and if the OL didn't stink, maybe the Bears could use more plays that utilize Berrian's speed. -Mark Bradley looks fast, big, strong, and confident every time he gets in the game. It's just too bad that he slept with Lovie's wife, or whatever the heck he did, because he simply can't get out of the doghouse. There is no way he should be behind MuhMuh. -Rashied Davis seems to be a fairly good slot receiver. I have a feeling that if he went to a more prolific offense, he'd end up be…

As much as we want a number one, I think sitting pat and let the cream rise to the top with the WRs we have. Next year there are several stud WRs up for FAgency. Roddy White, Brandon Mashall, Braylon Edwards, Antonio Bryrant, and TO is on a one year deal. Also V. Jackson from SD is up for contract. We should play the hand out and then grab a FA after we find out what we have and maybe by then we will have our own star on the team.

Jeffery and Hester both were at practice yesterday and have a chance to play the week against the Vikings. We really need both of them to take pressure of of Marshall and to give ay someone else to throw to since bennett is going to be out.
