  1. Yeah...the Packers have had the same coach and system so long that they've gotten careless to the point that they commit 18 penalties in a game. The Bears are 2-3 years away from being that awful.
  2. Causing a turnover or two and drawing a lot of penalties was probably quite literally items 1 and 2 on the game board of how they were going to win that game. The Packers played the exact game the Bears wanted. You don't get "lucky" holding a team like the Packers to 17 points.
  3. Marinelli does blitz...you just don't see it because the blitz only really works well if the other team is taking its time and looking down the field. A good number of the completions with yards after the catch were on plays where the Bears sent an extra back; Rogers stuck with the quick drop and threw to the vacated area. A smart QB loves it when the opponent blitzes; it exposes the secondary. The Bears were better off not blitzing very often and holding the LB's back to hit guys on the short passes. At least 2 of those 3 INT's you talk about don't happen at all on video without the penalty. Cutler doesn't throw that one INT without the blow to his head mid-throw; a legal blow and his eyes stay on the target. Cutler doesn't throw that INT on video late in the game without his receiver being manhandled. Cutler had a very good game at doing what he needed to do. I saw exactly 2 throws worthy of criticism; the INT in the first half sailed on him, and the 4th and goal INC was entirely on him.
  4. But...there was a reason that there was a surge of them when the Pack were trapped inside the 10.
  5. The only difference with a holding penalty is you don't get the precious loss of down or precious chance for a fumble/INT like you do if the QB is hit. If Peppers is the only one getting pressure...yeah it's an annoyance...but it's something you can live with as long as the other guys are stuffing the run.
  6. This is the exact type of game you bring in a Julius Peppers for.
  7. Packers at Bears on Monday night. I really don't need to say more than that do I?
  8. It remains plausible that a feeler was put out...but that the Bears either realized the Chargers were asking for a ton for a suspended player with FA looming, or the Bears realized the Chargers weren't playing straight up and didn't bother.
  9. Seems like the reason why the Bears aren't in on this is that no one is legitimately in on it at the price the Chargers want. The Chargers seem to be acting somewhat out of spite here.
  10. Saw the thread title and figured it meant you bet on the Cowboys...
  11. If a team can't get a lot of pressure without sending the house..and a QB gets the ball out of their hands fast enough to beat the blitz, then that's going to beat most every team in the NFL.
  12. If you can keep them in bounds...the quicker everything is over, the fewer chances there are for big things to go wrong.
  13. They're up 10 now with 4:45 on the clock and Dallas has only 2 TO's left. That 2 possession lead is a huge difference in terms of running the "prevent".
  14. Yeah...I got a "that explains a lot" feeling when I read that.
  15. This was a good enough read that I wanted to post it somewhere.
  16. As I've asked previously, can you please include a link when you directly excerpt large segments of an article someone else published to protect this site in terms of copyright matters?
  17. Bears try to make it 2 straight against the Boys, in the house that Jerry Jones built. Here's your game thread.
  18. Sweet, thanks, I learned something today!
  19. If the Bears put him on IR...that clears an active roster spot right? Is it possible there's a different position that they've decided they really need depth at?
  20. Yeah...it's certainly true that there is a degree of concussion that would require a player to sit out the season...but I get the impression it's really, really hard to tell that early in the recovery process. We see it all the time...the guys who get serious concussions that actually cost them months of playing time (Westbrook, from baseball Morneau) never think they're going to be out with concussion symptoms for as long as they actually wind up being out for. Does HH have a long history of serious concussions? That's the only situation that I'd think a concussion turns into an immediate IR trip for a guy for medical reasons.
