  1. I rewatched this play 10 times today. A few things standout: 1) Maneri makes a poor effort to grab it. He and Harrison Smith are seemingly the only two in the area who know where the ball is. Maneri only jumped about 6 inches to grab it. Either he didn't see Smith, he's a bad athlete, or he didnt' give a shit. 2) The decision to throw it was poor. Maneri was open, but why throw it to that guy of all people? He's there to block, not catch. 3) His first option was M.Bennett and his second was Fiammetta. Both were covered, although with a perfect pass, he had Bennett for a second. 4) A run play call might have been the best option. I know they had just scored on a 1 yard pass, but why's Bush even on the team at this point then? 5) Why was Maneri even on the field at that juncture? It might have been to make MIN believe a run was coming due to his blocking ability, but come on.
  2. Last week, the Bears only gave up 21 and this week only 17. The special teams just needs to be tightened up as do the turnovers on offense.
  3. Prior to the year, I said 10-6. For the sake of not being too optimistic and sticking with my original pick, I'll go with that. If they happen to get better play from Melton and Peppers, they could be better than that. If Cutler continues on this 32 turnover pace, they won't win 10.
  4. A team who NEEDS a receiver would, IMO, give up a 5th for Bennett. Baltimore and New England both could use a WR.
  5. At what point do the Bears consider dealing Earl Bennett, taking a 5th round pick and making Marquess Wilson active? I think it'd be difficult for Wilson to do less than what Bennett is right now. That's not criticizing Bennett either. Right now though, he isn't part of the Bears' offense and looks disinterested, for good reason.
  6. No, I know. Melton had that tackle on MIN's final drive to stop Peterson on 3rd and goal but that doesn't cut it. He should be able to have his way with PIT's interior next week.
  7. TRADE KUTLER AND PUT MCCOWN IN! You guys. But yeah, where are Melton and Peppers? They've been MIA.
  8. Waddle and Silvy & Jurko and Carman are good shows.
  9. For a fact, I know Urlacher and Cutler were never the best of friends. I believe Urlacher turned away from the Bears upon Cutler's arrival, knowing that he was no longer the face of the franchise and that the organization was trying to become an offensive team. It didn't help that Emery drafted a LB and signed a LB, both who had better 2012's than Urlacher and both who are currently better than Urlacher was last year. It happens. Teams move on from players all the time. BTW, Urlacher did tweet the other day that he was impressed with Kyle Long and even tagged him in the tweet. Brian, we all love you. Just move on to your new role in peace.
  10. Yes, exactly. The read option. The 49ers only ran it the read option 7 times, according to ESPN. I missed the first 20 minutes of the game because I was on the way back from the Bears game. Honestly, I think I saw it done 4-5 times, so they might be right. Right away, you get so angry. Relax. Just because I think you're wrong doesn't mean you need to start underlining and bolding and shit. Tebow and Newton are horrible examples. So far, Newton's been a bust and Tebow was the worst QB ever. Next time, use guys like Wilson, RG3 and Kaepernick, because using Tebow and Newton will get you laughed at.
  11. I think ESPN has the Bears #5, FWIW.
  12. I think I know what the difference between run plays and read option plays are. I wasn't born last year. They ran 7 read option plays, per ESPN. The pistol isn't the exact same thing as read option. What I'm arguing is that this will be figured out. The wildcat had 2+ years in it. This is now into year 2 of the read option. Give it time.
  13. My take? He's the biggest jackass in football, hands down. There's a difference between beating your opponent and attempting to kill them. He tries both.
  14. But really, who cares? This is good news for the Bears.
  15. LF: How do you rattle Jay? JW: You hit him over and over. LF: Ok, but how? JW: Good point. I never really paid attention and I'm a clueless dope. LF: Uh... JW: And they don't have me anymore so you can't exactly get to him easily.
  16. Uh no, the 49ers only ran 7 read option plays vs Green Bay.
  17. That's what the picture said but he wrote "stay off the quarterback."
  18. And what if Bennett doesn't have 2 holding calls and Trestman elects to kick a FG earlier in the game when they punted instead?
  19. How did that read option work for Seattle yesterday and Washington today? The 49ers run it and they put on a show, but it wasn't read option. It was all dropbacks and on Kaepernick's arm.
  20. Google "Kyle Long twitter." Scroll down on his tweets and look at the one from earlier around 3:00/4:00. The caption he wrote with it says something like "stay off the quarterback."
  21. My fantasy advice: start the best players. That sounds stupid, but an example would be starting a bad defense because they're playing a bad offense over a good defense facing a good offense. That always backfires. So, do NOT play Oakland's defense this weekend over Seattle's.
  22. The fact that they had Boggs and Britton as their only 2 reserve OL vs Cincinnati is scary. I can't believe James Brown isn't good enough to be active. Just think, he was potentially going to be a starter before Long roared onto the scene.
