  1. Yeah. Watching the Bears current best WR (Bennett) riding the bench would be terrific.
  2. If the return is Dan Connor, he's barely played since he's gotten into the NFL. However, I've heard that Armanti Edwards may be the guy coming to Chicago. I agree, in a sense. I fear that this may mean that Martz is planning on going back to his "throw the ball 55 times per game" philosophy. It sucks that such a POTENTIALLY talented TE couldn't fit in here, but he never exactly lived up to his potential. This makes it easier on me. It wasn't like Olsen was some great player or something. He was soft, sometimes didn't hustle, and I don't think he was all that happy with his use here. I said, it depends on what they plan on doing with Martz. Obviously, the plan seems like they are locked into him as the OC for years or they wouldn't be trading a 6'5, pass catching TE. I also said, if they plan on him leaving in a year or 2, then this is pointless.
  3. What if he signs Dahl, Clabo, or Nicks for OG?
  4. Last year, the Bears spent $120m in the offseason. Are they supposed to do that every offseason? That obviously doesn't mean winning. See: Redskins.
  5. It depends. The Bears are banking on Martz being their OC for many years to come, apparently, and a pass catching TE isn't valuable in his offense. If they only plan on keeping Martz around for another year or 2, then yes, this is a brutal trade.
  6. Manumaleuna was released because he failed his physical. That's really surprising..
  7. Wait, Roy Williams could be a #1 WR? Come on. The guy was never all that and he drops tons of passes. He'd fit in here. Everyone wants them to sign a good #1 WR. If they do, make it a GOOD receiver. Not Roy Williams. I'm sorry for attacking you. My "stop saying it" comment was way out of hand. Don't tell mommy on me.
  8. Spaeth is a good blocking TE. This is a good add.
  9. I think we agree, jason, except the WR part. I don't want Randy Moss just because they need "hounds of their backs."
  10. If I was GM, I'd keep Roach, Adams, Kreutz, sign Carl Nicks, and sign a LB. But I'm not, so they'll probably sign some depth players and keep Roach and Adams.
  11. So you guys are content with a UDFA at C (Linnenkohl) or some f*** named Edwin Williams? LOL
  12. If the Bears don't think WR is a big need, we shouldn't either. Getting your own hopes up for a $50m WR is wasting your time and energy. If they actually had an NFL caliber OL, maybe some of those balls thrown to Knox that he should fight for would've been better throws with more time and he could've caught them in stride. Of course they have small WR's. Of course they are going to struggle...they're young. Never did I say we can't disagree. But WR is NOT a huge need for the Bears. If it was, they would've addressed it 3 years ago. They would've kept Berrian if they thought it was a HUGE need. Did they? No. Therefore, to the Bears, getting a WR isn't a big need. OL is the biggest need on this team.
  13. How is Jermon Bushrod or Willie Colon a "marginal" upgrade from Frank Omiyale or J'Marcus Webb? Please. Those 2 guys, right now, are absolutely horrible at playing offensive tackle in the NFL. I highly doubt the Bears go after Carl Nicks. They aren't going to dish out $25m guaranteed and $50m overall for an OG.
  14. Did I really just read a "I've never heard of Willie Colon or Jermon Bushrod?" Jesus. They're good players, people. The Bears have signed one GREAT player as a FA in Angelo's time (Peppers). What OT do you want them to get? Answer me that.
  15. Yeah, I'm not sure why the Bears should have gone after Rice. He got way too much money, his only good season was with Brett Favre, and he's coming off a bad hip injury. Yuck.
  16. This is a weird issue. For one, I think Olsen doesn't play a huge offensive role on this team. I think a WR can be brought in and do a great job in his spot, because of Martz's offense. Plus, I'm not comfortable as a Bears fan to say the Bears should keep Olsen around and give him a huge extension next offseason for a small role in this offense. Granted, I'm not sure how long Martz has as the Bears OC, but for the time being, Olsen isn't worth top 5 TE money. On the other hand, Olsen has made strides as a blocker and is still dangerous. My blasting of him has stopped, because IMO, he used to be lazy on the field and not show a lot of hustle on tough catches. Last year, that slowed down last year as he worked on his blocking and made the catches he should. If the Bears can get a 2nd round pick + a FA WR in his spot, do it. If they have no plans of signing a WR after this trade and can only get a 3rd round pick in return, I say no.
  17. WR is not a big need, and if it is to you, it's not to the Bears, so stop saying it. This is a good signing. Podlesh was good last year, and Maynard is old and was horrible last season.
  18. My best advice is to relax. These contracts that are being handed out today are insane. If the Bears gave $19m guaranteed to Weddle, $50m over 5 years to Holmes, $30m guaranteed to C.Johnson, or $15m to Santana Moss, I'd have to legitimately consider jumping off of something high. IMO, the best move they can make is to immediately sign Carimi and get him the playbook and continue to get him accustomed to being a Bear.
  19. I watched one Jets game last year, I believe vs GB, and Brad Smith can also hit on ST as well. He can play some wildcat QB, he can catch, he can do a lot of offensive s***. Plus, he's a really good ST player. This is a good pick-up, without seeing the money involved.
  20. Rumor out of Halas Hall says Cutler, since coming to Chicago, is usually the first one in and the last one to leave. This is nothing new. This offseason, perhaps he's just dedicated himself to some lifting because he knows he's likely in for another 40-50 sack season.
