  1. Agreed. Basically whatever monster stud we bring in from FA, I don't really want to see that be our #1 pick as well. Be it a Mario Williams or a Colston or V-Jack.
  2. Agreed. Royal as a complimentary WR would be a good move I think. We just need a clear #1 as well as you said.
  3. Exactly. No need to play your hand now when if can be played later.
  4. I'm not sure what our track record is turning bargain basement guys into gems... A Adams was OK, Jennings was fair at times. Overall, our only real success has seemed to come from getting a bonafide stud or through the draft. It could very well be a "coaching-up" issue many of us have had concern with over the years. But, I simply would rather get 1 blue chip guy over a handful of so-so discards from other systems.
  5. If we win the SB, Moss could have a career year elsewhere for all I care...
  6. Just postin' for those who want to see empirical evidence...
  7. None of those are solutions. Helpful hands, but not what we really need. Anyone other than Colston or Jackson will be considered a whiff by Emery...at least on paper. Barring, of course, if he gets Mario Williams. We simply need one of three of those guys in order for FA to not appear to be a bust. Time will tell, but at the moment and on paper, that's how it appears.

  9. I swear I feel like I'm waffling more on this issue than a damn politician these past few days! I would really want V-Jack, but so much of what's being brought up, including the hefty price tag worries me. Colston would obviously be the great alternative. However, the more and more I think about things, the more I like the Mario idea. With Peppers getting older, we'd have a stud in place to eventually replace him. And in the meantime, we'd after potentially the best ends in football that could even be more amazing than what we saw in '85... I'll put the koolaid glass down and contemplate waffling again on this any moment now... But bottom line, we are in a position to bring in at least one big star...and we can justify as least 3 moves that would make us better.
  10. There does appear to be some potentially nice fits... I wonder what Cutler's thoughts of Royal are...

  12. He will be a #1 WR for the Bears. He just won't get Gronkowski-like stats. We need a chain mover and an end zone threat.
  13. Thanks for sharing that info. I wasn't fully aware of the details. And am glad you shared some of your knowledge w/ the rest of us.
  14. Jackson is significantly better than Berrian.... Berrian was only a deep ball threat. We are desperate. It's not like we have anyone... If not him, Colston is fine. But we need a vet that commands respect and can make big plays. Your bias shows. To say that Jackson is mediocre is simply off base. We still may not want to overpay for him, but he's not mediocre.
  15. I stand corrected. I was talking more in theory or as it should be. Sadly, it appears reality doesn't work that way. But I think my basic point still holds up. Those in charge knew of the issues, boldly lied that they did not, and condoned the issues. I think we can agree that blame is to placed. To what extent, we can differ.
  16. Not sure if you're being sarcastic...but here's the facts on the term "burnt"... http://www.chicagobears.com/tradition/uniform.asp
  17. You may need a better analogy. What's going on with the Saints more closely resembles a group of guys that agree to steal. Let's use a military reference for ease... These guys are privates and corporals. Now, the staff sgt. knows of the plan. But instead of alerting the MP's or his Lt., he does nothing. In fact, his Lt. asks him if he knows anything...and he says no. Now the group of privates and corporals go and steal. Yes, the privates & corporals are guilty. But, by not doing anything to stop it and especially lying to the Lt., the sgt. is basically as guilty, if not more so. It is expected that someone in that position of power set a greater example.

  19. It's Navy and Burnt Orange.... http://www.chicagobears.com/tradition/uniform.asp "In 1935 the Bears introduced an orange jersey with black arm stripes and black helmet and by 1958 were wearing the familiar navy blue with burnt orange. The Bears unique "rounded" number style on the uniforms and numbers on the sides of the sleeves of the jerseys date back to the 1950's."
  20. It basically is literally too good to be true.
  21. I've heard NE and SF as potential suitors....They are the only clubs that worry me. But, Smith is no Cutty. Brady on the otherhand....that choice truly concerns me. But I think money will talk.
  22. Well, V-Jack apparently is free. So that bodes well... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/...-franchise-tag/
