  1. You know I have my issues with Smith, but I can easily see why is is appreciated. The players do love him. It's rare for him to call anyone out in public. One the rare occasion he does, it usually motivates or is a pre-cursor to a pink slp for the player. The owners love him because he's good enough to get into the playoffs with some regularity, is a nice guy, and realize the players play for him. The coaches probably like him because he doesn't throw anyone under the bus. All this is on the surface for the most part. he basically circles the wagons and says jack. Similar to Billichick. Except Lovie comes off a little better dressed. He' irritating to fans and media. But, for those in the inside, I can see where he's very appreciated. He keeps his cards close to his vest. We fans and media don't like it, but I'll bet management and players do. Over the years, I've changed from disliking Smith more than JA to now hating JA more. Smith appears to be learning a bit. I wish he could force adjustments more mid-game for one. But I've seen inprovements. He no longer has DB's 20 yards off the LOS on every play. There is some hope he could get better with a staff that is complimentary (Tice? "Run fisrt") and a GM that can get him some damn talent. My glass is half on him. Not full nor empty. Just 1/2. Whereas my glass on JA is bone freaking dry with residue of rat poison.
  2. That's like saying if I had a Ferrari I would have won the race. But, you have a Carolla. You aren't getting a Ferrari. Make the most of the Carolla. Put a better engine in, etc... We all can blame JA for the lack of talent, but it is what it is. You must make the most of it. Martz only seemed to adjust to it after numerous attempts believing he had a Ferarri...
  3. It's like a Christmas list of WR's! VJ, Colston, or Wayne would be great. I don't mind Bowe either. Welker doesn't strike me as the kind of player we need. But, I won't balk. I don't like Stevie Johnson. He hasn't shown he can really be a #1 and relied on.
  4. I'm sorry, I just plain disagree. The play call at that point was a run. You have a young QB that's been struggling all game. You are in position to take the lead with a FG. You simply run the ball. The playcall would be more than fine if an experienced QB were under center. Hanie is not that. Did the players both it? Yeah, I think so. But that play is not necessary at that point in the game. I'm honestly not sure anyone's bailing Caleb out. He cost us the game. But, it's up to the coaches to put him in the best position to win, and that playcall did not do that. If you don't think Hanie's any good, rest that blame at Angelo's doorstep. But, given the hand they got, the coaching staff did not make the most of it. Regardless of how good he is compared to the complete clowns that have been OC's for the Bears...he's still making too many mistakes. We could be jumping out of the frypan into the fire if Martz does not stay...but it appears to be headed that way nonetheless.

  6. Good read. I still have some issues with him, but the article rings true.
  7. Obscure reference indeed! Even better, just plain Falco of "Rock Me Amadeus" fame...especially since he's deceased. RIP Falco... (BHG tribute for the immature...)

  10. As a good chunk of us guessed after he didn't extend his contract, he was out at season's end... Still may not happen, but it seems like he'll be gone somewhere...

  12. Thanks for sharing your experiences at the game. I'm glad you came away unscathed! ...and am glad to hear it seems a rare thing. 8. I don't disagree with your reasoning, but I just simply say it was a bad playcall for what was needed at that time. The execution was beyond poor by every single Bear involved in it, but it just wasn't needed 9. I cannot agree more! That was a pure hussle play. Sheer desire to stop it from happening. That kept us in the game. Louis has been a very pleasant surprise this season. I hope he continues to improve and becomes a foundation of our OL for years to come. x. Can I get on my Clutts soapbox for a minute? I swear either I'm selectively watching, or does it seem like we simply gain more yars when Clutts is in blocking for our runners? Barber had Clutts in on virtually every one of his runs, and he was popping 5-8 yards per carry. Forte would get the single back treatment and rattle off far less. Can we just put Clutts in there as least more often than not?
  13. Thanks for culling that info... I think it was a bad play call.
  14. Oddly enough, just like Todd, the link isn't working...
  15. As you should be! But McCown has actually produced some in the NFL...I can't recall Collins producing anything but upset stomachs...
  16. Yes, I think he's better than Enderle is right now. He'll back Caleb up. Decent signing. NOthing spectacular. Caleb is the man.
