2011 Official TalkBears Fantasy Football Check-in
madlithuanian replied to DrunkBomber's topic in Bearstalk
That's why we play the games! I'm in another league that splits earnings between the bowl winner and total points. Makes it kind of interesting. In the 10 years we've been playing, not once has the top point earner won the bowl! It's all about the match-up! -
I wish you had the say in operations...I am all for all your cuts.
-
Most the guys on the D line are ok. But, other than peppers none are that great. With all that peppers brings to the table, not one single Bear shined at all. That is a concern. You'd think someone would benefit from the double teams, etc...but not really. No one played bad. But no one truly shined other than in mere flashes here and there.

I like the improvement on Melton, but he's also been silent a lot of the year. He's worth keeping around for sure, but he needs to produce more. Paea could be a pleasant surprise. He's shown signs.

2011 Official TalkBears Fantasy Football Check-in

Congrats DevilDogs! You took me out with extreme prejudice! Although i think you may owe Drew Brees a bowl of gumbo is you ever run into him! Cheers! -
If all we got were OL's and WR's, I think I wouldn't be sad! At least we'd increase our chances of getting something good...
-
It's sad. he showed such promise early on, but never really progressed. Again, is it that this staff cannot develop players? There seems to be a lot of these circumstances... Granted Bennett has improved. But still, it seems we only get great when we bring in a Peppers or Cutler. Already proven guys...
-
Is it me, or does it just feel odd on yet another day when the quarterbacking for the bears is beyond atrocious, 2 castoffs (Orton, no so much a castoff albeit) perform well and provide big wins for their teams? Many of us have claimed that we simply cannot develop players. I'm not sure that's the case here...but it just makes me think. My dad brought the subject up to me. While we both agreed that Cutler is better than either of those 2...it was just kind of odd both did well while we floundered with no heart or brains yet again...
-
I think Martz more adapted to Cutler's complaints, than Cutler adapting to Martz....
-
Yes, I meant more Smith than Martz...
-
I think he's hurt. Ankle I believe. But, still...horrible over the past 4 games.
-
This one will be an easy loss to detatch ourselves from... I don't think we have a snowball's chance. Yeah, the Chiefs beat them...but they played with heart and smart. 2 things this Bears team has been lacking for 4 straight weeks...
-
Amen to that...

What a big yuck today. Where we failed... 1. Special Teams. Paging Dave Toub? Where did you go? No Hester, mess ups on FG coverage, and just plain being a non-factor... We were counting on you for 4 straight weeks to at least come through once. FAIL. 2. D. How is it we can look so good, then so bad so quickly? It's been for weeks now! Bumbling around in the secondary like a bunch of Shemp rejects, having the only thing come from Urlacher in weeks is poor sportsmanship, and reverting back to playing 20 yards off the line of scrimmage... When the going gets tough, this team has seemed to regress. I don't expect tunrovers all the time, but I expected more heart than what we saw today. I think I only saw Peppers and Briggs playing today other than some decent plays by Paea. 3. O. Seriously, do I need to say anything? No QB, fair RB's, not one WR worth a damn...it's just beyond painful. Thankfully Johnny K is OK. As much as he's been problematic, his injury looked so bad I felt sick to my stomach. I prayed he did suffer any long term damage or paralysis. I didn't want him on the squad next year, but I don't want him hurt. 4. Coaching. We just have not been prepared to play big boy football for 4 weeks straight. You'd think one damn game would be a wake up call. Smith will get a pardon for having so many injuries to deal with and a crummy talent pool. But his smug face is not blameless. I've been harsh over the years, and have relented this year. I want to see something positive next year. Or it's time to cut bait. Sniffing glory and constantly missing it is no way to go about football life... 5. Management. JA. Well, I need not go into detail...we all know why people dislike and want JA gone. Some don't... I can't understand it, but that's OK. We all have varying ideas of success. And that I do get. But I am done with him. On the positive side... 1. Cutty will be back. He is awesome. He is the team. 2. Carimi will be back. He will help. We improved on the line, but he will make things better I believe. 3. Forte should be back... He's the best RB we have, and a huge contributor since JA has not supplied us with anything but a decent Bennett. We need more help. We need more in the secondary. We need a FREAKING REAL WR FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT'S HOLY! We need a real TE. We need some depth at LB. And we need more more DL that can make an impact. It's a lot still... But even if we got some of it, things should be better. At least a freaking WR... Please Santa.

For one moment today, I felt good! It was so nice to see a guy that did every thing we asked him to do, perform well against a hated rival! Thank you Kyle Orton! Now, even if the slobs from GB win it, at least they can't shove perfection in anyone's face. Kudos to Kyle Orton. I hope he lands the starter job in KC. He's earned it today in my eyes. ...and one last thing. F you Green Bay!
-
Yep... Season done. Onto thinking about the next.
-
Exactly. There is no such thing.
-
Seriously, the best comments I've read on this situation...
-
Can't agree more. Jennings had a tiny few good moments this season, but doesn't compare to the multitude of bad. I feel for Hanie. It's not his fault he sucks. It's the management and coaches, thinking he didn't suck. Webb, for all the promise, it's just time to move on. Thankfully Carimi is back and maybe he or someone else can fill that void.
-
We are playing like garbage for the 4th straight week. The coaching staff needs some blame for this. We do not look prepared for play.
-
Deja vu all over again...

Could this Hurd mess be an indictment in JA?
madlithuanian replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
It isn't. I'm just desperate to rid ourselves of him... -

I'm with you on that for sure! -
Yikes...I hope Johnny Knox is OK. That hit looked horrible.
