I believe he has been waived. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...eu-of-benching/

I seriously would want nothing more than to resign him so he can retire an official Bear. C'mon Jerry make it right.

The odds have never seen a player of Hester's caliber before...

Cutler on pace to break Bears season passing record....
madlithuanian replied to madlithuanian's topic in Bearstalk
No it doesn't! That's why so many were all so excited when we got Jay! -
Are Hester's odd FG miss for a return and super bowl returns counted?
-
If Deion can include pick returns, why can't Devin include TD's? While not a huge element, the guy still has made some plays. It's the whole package. Returning A+, receiving C...but it's something. And I agree, he's not done returning!

To put in in some perspective, chicks like the longball. Punters and tacklers don't score. Hester scores. And does so spectacularly. That makes a difference whether it should or not. He literally has a leg up on both Ray and Steve. Who, I also agree, deserve to be elected.

I've stated it in earlier threads. Hester is HoF material for sure...

OK, Jay has 1,476 passing yards through 6 games. Assuming he continues at the exact same pace of 246 yds/game, he'll get another 2,460 yards for the next 10 games. That would be a total of 3,936. Kramer currently hold the record of 3,838 from 1995. Kramer also has the # of TD's in a season record of 29 from the same season. Jay is only on pace (having just 8 TD's currently) to only get a total of 21. Can't get 'em all Jay! Sid's got the franchise passing record of career yards of 14,866. Jay got 3,666 in 2009 and 3,274 in 2010. With the 1,476 he's got right now, that'll give him 8,416. He'd only need 6,450 more to pass Luckman. In theory, that's 2 seasons worth given Jay's current rate. So, in 2 more seasons after this, he should be well past it. Pretty cool! Go get 'em Jay!

Sounds like semantics...probably ensuring some type of salary...

Agreed. If pearlman wanted to discuss, he would have come back to check repsonses. There have been a few...and all I can hear is crickets other than the statements by our Talk Bears fans... -

Drunk, I think your reaction came straight from your heart. (Maybe bypassing the brain on a few quotes!) I know I'm guilty of the same a lot! I like your re-takes after some pondering... Even if true and even if Connie is saying no just to save face...the bottom line is it doesn't matter. This book simply isn't newsworthy. It's tabloid. No one will grow as a person by reading it. The only thing that will grow is Pearlman's pocketbook. This one just doesn't interest me. Read Steve McMicahel's autobio...it's funny fast reading. -

Great points lemonej... -
I pretty much agree. If he were a bear still, he probably would have at least waited until season's end to call it a career. Thanks for the service Olin...

There's some. But it's all dependent on the perspective. Giving certain military/political/philosophical quotes to oust Cutler is not a good comparison. We know nothing of the sideline dynamics. Could be like the Sienfeld episode where George takes the good ole boys out and they call one another sonsofbitches all the time. That could be standard practice. Could also be a simple heat of the moment bad call by Martz or something similar and Jay is simply telling him empahtically, "no!" using flowerly language inappropriate for schoolchildren. But, for men playing a rough sport...that stuff ain't nothing. Simply put, we don't realy know the context it was in. Was it intended for Martz? Was it just blowing off steam? Seriously, Jay yelling at a line, man or a WR? Did Pompei ever watch marino? That guys yelled at his guys all the time. They treated him pretty well. In the heat of the football battle, you need to do what you need to do. I'm glad Jay yelled at the clowns that were letting him get hit and sacked and the fools contantly dropping his passes! And on a pick, I'd have no problem with someone getting in his dish. They don't have to pass out "effort/participation" trophies after every bad play. Football relations are not the same as a regular job. I'm not harping on your response...moreso just adding to it. Pompei has me pissed off.

Anyone catch the last South park? They do a parody of intrusion of privacy... It speaks volumes! Some things just don't need to be covered. TMI... F TMZ...

Mr. Pearlman, Assuming it is really you...and in this day and age, it's not easy to determine so when posting on messageboards to say the least...I appreciate the time you took to defend your book. I was a vocal opponent to your book when news came out on it. I still am. But, I do defend your right to write. As a consumer, I simply am defending my right not to consume. I get that there's more to the Walter story than the PR, etc. However, I, as a fan, am simply not interested. Walter was an extraordinary athlete that was a genuine role model. He never committed any heinous crime, he worked hard, and he appreciated his fans. What more as a fan could one for in all honesty? I'm a fan of all knids of things...football, rock music, etc. So to learn someone had an affair, or took some drugs is simply not newsworthy to me. Only unless someone is preaching to others that they shouldn't do so, while doing so themselves...like Jimmy Swaggart as an example. None of the "negative" bits about Walter are surprising. Through the gravevine, I've heard may of those stories...including others that could be deemed worse. I have no idea what is really true. But stories are out there. I get that your book covers all elements, including a vast amount of positives. However, anyone in this day and age, that believes the positives will get the press is out to lunch. Turn on the news. The opening story isn't someone donating time and effort to the poor. It's a car chase, or a drug bust, etc. I believe you knew what you were getting into when you decided to print your book. How could you not? You had to know there would be staunch opposition to your publication. It's unfortunate, that some of that opposition have crossed the line. I regret people are sending you death threats and the lot. That is not only uncalled for, but outright against the law. Again, I thank you for your candor and taking time to set the record straight. But, I will not buy your book. I simply am not interested. -
ha! I hear McCoy will be back...
